The…read morepark is well maintained and very nice to bike through, well not at night when it's dark and I run into things. There's a nice baseball field, reasonably clean restrooms, a nice balance of open meadow - cut grass and light forest. It's a long curving park with ample parking, lots of dogs with their humans visit here but I've never stepped in any irresponsibility so that says something about the people who frequent this park. Mosquitoes were a little aggressive but what are you going to do, a creek runs through the middle.

The…read morebaseball diamonds look recently updated, there is a large play area of kids, a pool, and a pond for fishing (stocked with fish!). There is frequently a food truck or two parked on the perimeter. I've visited a couple times and there are a lot of people during nice weather. There is definite need for available restrooms - there are a couple bathrooms, they were just locked (even though the signs said they were open). Luckily, we found 1 port-a-potty at the far edge of a baseball diamond. The pond also needs some love - there is quite a bit of smelly algae, and I imagine the dissolved oxygen levels are low due to high water temperatures, especially during the summer. Not sure how well the fish are doing, and it is HEAVILY fished. However, it was nice to see so many families enjoying the pond and I love seeing parents teach their kids how to fish. As an ecologist, it is sad to see Honey Creek is still confined to the concrete channel that runs through the park. But the ducks and geese seem pretty happy. A solid 3.5ish stars, will be back next time I'm in the area.

Went here on a Sunday that was a little overcast not a lot of people here which made it really…read morenice. However the beach is very small and there is public access to the lake right next to the beach which to me as a parent would be scary for little kids getting too close to the boats and vice versa. The snack bar wasn't open at the time we want the playground looks newer and what I've heard from others, but did not see when I went there was you have to pay five dollars to park. Can't get very noisy. I'm sure if it's a hot day and more people are there. It is a beautiful place to view the lake and a lot of benches and picnic tables to sit on.

My husband and I were recently scouting great kayak locations and secondarily solid fishing locales…read morefor my dad. Our scouting trip brought us (aptly) to Scout Lake Park. For our purpose (kayaking), it's a no-go. It's has more of a pond vibe (both in size and wildlife) and just really isn't a good spot for kayaking (or paddleboarding for that matter). There are signs that say no boats (not sure if that includes kayaks). All in all, it's just not the best spot for it. There is a platform/dock that extends over the lake that we saw some folks fishing from it while we were there. There are a couple benches for sitting while fishing or you could easily bring your own chairs as well. I read that they stock the lake with fish so could be a nice spot for that. My dad is more into fishing from the banks and the foliage at the banks here makes this not the best spot for that either. That said it is a lovely lake and there's a pretty nice trail that extends around it that would be good for either biking or walking. We walked it while we were there and it doesn't take very long to traverse the entire loop around the lake and the views of the lily pad adorned lake were lovely. One note I'll make is that there was an unfortunate amount of trash in the lake near the doc which was such a bummer. But, beyond that sad note--a great spot for an evening stroll.

A real gem of a county park wildlife sanctuary, close to 200 acres of which about 60 acres or so is…read morehardwood forest. A swimming area and plenty of nice picnic area make this a great warm weather park but the hiking trails are good all year round. The swimming area used to have lifeguards but I think the County cut that out a couple years back. There's a five dollar per car fee which is well worth it. Besides the UWM…read morebuildings and their Great Lakes Research Ship that they park along the river... there is a park that highlights all the various fish species that are in the lake in the river along with the additional information on the old Jones Island fishing village. You will also see huge P@H trucks on display. Also, the Komatsu offices look like a ship when you look through the windows. The whole area is pretty cool.

Beautiful small plaza with bubbling water and play features, along with a small slide, and a very…read moretall slide made out of an old shipping container. This is a great addition to the budding Harbor District, next to UWM's Freshwater Sciences building. A few bike lock stations and a bubbler and a bottle fill station make it a nice pit stop on a ride. Iron gates with art, open up to a seasonal kayak launch. Perhaps a straight shot kayak launch with less obstacles and right angles is needed here. I was in the area picking up a DIY fall river cleanup kit from Milwaukee Riverkeeper, who would probably appreciate a helping hand with occasional debris, if you spot it. It takes all of us, sometimes. There's nice signage of individual and corporate sponsors, who helped make this plaza a reality, and help keep making Milwaukee a great place on a Great Lake.

I'm a sucker for nature and Kletzsch park left me feeling no less awe. I've hiked around this area…read moremore than a few times since moving to Milwaukee forever ago. Kletzsch is particularly stunning as it has a large damn that many people fish in. It's also a great launching point for kayak's and canoes to head up or down the Milwaukee River. We enjoy walking the pooch and pushing through the woods down over near the massive spans of park in that area. Either way it's just a serene and casual walk where you can hear the sound of rushing water. This section of the Milwaukee river is quite high right now. It's amazing to note the changes in land mass that the river engulfs in comparison to drier times. I've even ventured out below the railroad tracks that pass over the river just down from the damn a ways. Nature at it's best on the outskirts of the great city I call home, Milwaukee!

I did learn that if you're a young girl alone asking your Lyft driver to leave you at the park when it's covered in snow it will draw red flags and you'll have the cops looking for you. Mainly wondering why you're wandering the park completely alone. Lol Made for good memories and should that Wisconsin people are very nice and caring compared to other places. Hopefully I'll get to come back to this Park when it's not completely covered in snow and I can freely explore.

We challenged our leg strength and climbed the tower to get a better view of the land before heading back to the car. Beautiful day but really muddy trail. I can definitely "feel the burn" after slipping down the hillside even when we decided to take the road less traveled. We saw a little family of deer cross our path in the woods as well. All in all, great hike, made the find and I got my steps in:-)
