Wiener Blut is a quirky little bar in Vienna, named after the iconic Viennese pop star, Falco, who famously topped the US charts for 4 weeks in the 1980s with "Rock me Amadeus"--an unmatched feat for any Austrian musician, especially since he "sang" (rapped) in German.
The bar is an ode to Falco and is owned by Rudi Buzasi, a close friend of the legend. Rudi also launched the critically acclaimed Wiener Blut Gin, which we had the pleasure of trying. We stopped by the bar before heading to a show by the Viennese Philharmonic and needed a place to relax.
The atmosphere was wonderfully cozy (or "gemütlich" in German). A variety of characters were mingling, and everyone was chatting, making it feel very welcoming. We had a great time and really enjoyed the gin. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Vienna! read more
