Possible to eat without spending too much money, but if you get a sandwich be prepared for very hard bread.

It's a beautiful building located in the middle of one of the nicest parks in Munich and, has tons of outdoor space and facilities for events. This particular restaurant however, seems to have bucked the trend and has been around for a while now. Initially there were two restaurants but, now there is one. The pizza / Italian place shut down recently (not sure permanently or not) and, I am not really surprised about that. This place however seems of attract a lot of locals and, it was packed last night when we got there, around 8pm. It's an Austrian restaurant and there is a self service Biergarten there as well. I have not eaten in the Austrian restaurant so cannot comment on the food but, it looks good. Will update my review, after I have had a chance to eat there. I have been to the self service Biergarten a couple of times and quite like it. They serve Augustiner bier here (one of my favourite Munich brewers) and there is a food counter also. The food counter has normal Biergarten food choice like sausages, wurstsalat and there is a counter that makes Flamkuchen or alpine pizza. The food is quite ok here and I quite like the Biergarten food. The atmosphere is lovely and I love the park itself. We come here often with the dog, as he loves this park. I will definitely come back here again and try the proper restaurant menu. It's close to where we live and an area we often frequent. A nice and quiet part of the city.

Food and wine were amazing! Service was superb- never felt rushed, service staff were on top of clearing and explaining the different dishes, recommending some over others. Too bad we had to make decisions, would have liked to order one of everything! Plate presentations were done cleanly and professionally. Can't stress enough how memorable the meal was for us especially the service which was friendly, respectful, aware of how to do their jobs without rushing us. As tasty as the appetizers and main courses were, the desserts put this meal over the top! Overall, I'd give Gasthaus Waltz an 11out of 10. Pictures don't do it justice (even though the food looked as good as it tasted)! What was more impressive was the service, the attention to detail, the way the servers interacted with our party of four, and the options on the menu which allowed us to try different dishes and different "liquid refreshments" which were solid hits all around! You know how you can tell a meal is great? You forget all about taking pictures of the food and instead enjoy making it disappear into your belly!!! Oh, and I should mention this one last thing: the restaurant is located on a neighborhood street, not on a main drag or alongside other businesses which allowed us to people watch between courses! Would definitely eat here again!

They offer a la carte options, but they also have a 4 course menu for € 69 and a 5 course menu for € 75. We opted to do their 4-course menu, since we wanted to try a few of their dishes. A highlight was the duck terrine appetizer as well as the trout entree with braised cucumbers and Veltliner foam and mashed potatoes. The staff here were absolutely delightful and honestly, I think the best service we had during our entire time in Germany.
