If you're looking for a weeding venue in wine country. ..this is the place! There is no need for decor as the place is SUPER nice. Also they have a lot of decor (some leftover from other weddings) that you can use for free so it'll save you a lot of money. I highly recommend getting married in December because you get the best deals! No one gets married around that time in wine country so you can haggle great prices. Now a special note about the food. The chef they partner with is TOP NOTCH! It's been almost 2 years and my guests are still talking about the food. He puts so much care into the food. He really needs his own restaurant. A must stop if you're in Temecula Wine Country. Exceptional wines (De L'Orange Champagne is our favorite) and awesome staff welcome you at this family owned place. When you walk you there's two tasting rooms, one fore members and one for the rest of us. So this is what it feels like to be segregated? This place is great! Good prices and the staff is great! We got James as our pourer and not only was he entertaining, but he also gave us a lot of information about discovering wine and about the wines we chose. Have to give it 4 stars instead of 5 because they didn't have very many white options. My "partner in crime" for the day enjoys reds and she loved all of the options but I only had about 4 to choose from. Out of the 6 tastes, 4 of them were of the same white because there were no other options. Other than that, great place. Atmosphere is friendly, open and relaxed. Definitely will be back for another visit, but hopefully they'll have more options for those who prefer white over red! read more

I have been a member here years...I can consistently find at least 4-5 wines that I really love. It can be dangerous after a tasting, because I wanna buy a bunch. Just left from doing a tasting and picking up my shipment. This is one of the only wineries that let you swap out wines in your quarterly shipment - which to me shows they care a lot about keeping their members. Good place and great wines. However my only complaint is that is seems VERY silly that they don't sell their beer there. You have to go to a completely different location for their brewery. I'm not sure who owns this place, but c'mon, get it together and connect your two businesses so you can get everything in one spot. This family run business has knack for making wine that brings a smooth rich flavor to great wine. I have been to over 20 wineries in Temecula and this location is hands down the best. I have been a member for over a decade and my favorite month is the Wiens month. I love reds and Wiens is notorious for their big red blends. Each year they always have something that seems to be a little different because the wine maker has such a great palate experiment wines come out amazing. The select wines are amazing as well. The Reflections is my favorite but the Zin and Cab have melted my heart too. They also have an artist series that is hard to beat anywhere else. Also, it is always fun to do a barrel tasting. As far as the whites, I only drink white wine on boats and the ones at Wiens have a distinct flavor that is delightful and refreshing. I think they are crisp and fun. My friends always enjoy them and always by two or more bottles. Other than wine, the best part is the knowledge that the employees have about their line and about wine in general. I love taking friends who are new to wine and I love flooring the aficionados on Temecula best kept secret (It is a secret, only because they do NOT mass produce to stores, only a few restaurants, which is better in my humble opinion). I also like to take people who only like certain types of wine, because of the blending brilliance brought by the maker. If I say to the server my friend like Malbec, they will tailor a taste based on that palate. Always take the Red Ride at Wiens, you will not be disappointed! read more

The GF was a member here with her dad. The concept was they keep the whites and I get the reds from club. Then, out of the blue, they made the club only whites. Dad quits and I still have some reds left. Fast forward 3 years and the GF gets an email saying they have a little sampler for $35 bucks. We get two for gifts and decide to revisit. I really tried to like the new stuff, but was having a bitch of a time. The interior was still the same. A bar hugging the walls and nothing in the middle. The members only room in the back was packed as was the bars. They did have whites and the GF jumped on them. I scanned the reds and was intrigued. I do remember the Reflections from when we were here before. On to the wine: 09 Perspective - What a mess. There were flavors there, just flying all over the place without any structure. 10 Sangio - Smooth and the best one of the lot. Nice nose. 10 Barbara - This one seemed like they stopped and had nowhere to go with this one. Honestly one of the most boring wines I have ever had. 09 Domestique - A nice attempt at a GMS, but missed the mark. 08 Resv Tempranillo/Petite Sirah - Not bad, way but over priced. 09 Resv Primitivo - Same as the previous wine. 07 Cab Sav - very nice. Aged nicely The GF was very happy with the Whites and Sweets. Dulce Maria - Sweet, but not as sweet as the last one. She like the Clementine and the Ports. For me, the port could have been a little hotter. Gotta love the heat. All and all, they are going in the right direction, it's just a matter when will they be there. read more

My new favorite winery in Temecula. They have a good selection of white and red. For refreshing whites on a sunny day, the Bianca and Fume are good. As for a nice piece of steak or lamb, the cab-Syrah or Refugio cab-sav would pair nicely. The staff are very knowledgable and friendly. My first Temecula winery to taste! The grounds and foliage of the winery was inviting and warm. I was here on a Friday for a wedding rehearsal and got to try out what this fine establishment had to offer. Tried the Chardonnay 09, Solace 09, Sangiovese 09, Syrah 09, & Reserve Zinfandel 06, and reserve Tempranillo-petite Syrah 08, and reseve petite Syrah 07. My favorite was the Tempranillo 08! Janis guided me through the pleasant experience and she was well-versed in her product. I will definitely come back to become a member. In terms of wedding ceremony & receptions, Weins is splendid indeed. From the fresh atmosphere of the amphitheater to the warm reception hall, this place is top notch for special events. Weins is the home of the Big Reds, but don't count out their white wines and champagne. It's $15 for 6 tastings, my personal favorites: White Crowded De L'orange Pink Crowded Red Crowded Domestique Perspective. They commission local artists to do a lot of their label artwork and have many events if you sign up to be a member. The ambiance is nice they have a large tasting room, with a really big patio area. Downside is they are not a resturant so they cannot pour full glasses, only doubles and you can't have lunch there. read more

My husband and I visited this winery for one of my client's weddings. It's a beautiful setting, staff is very friendly, and wine was fantastic. There were a few issues however, if you are planning your wedding here. First off, when I arrived to help the bride get ready I met the wedding coordinator. I had NO idea she was in charge since she had a t-shirt, stretch capris, and clogs on with hair that hadn't been brushed. I am not trying to take cheap shots here but I have worked in the bridal industry for years...Put a blazer on, a pair of heels, some lipstick and look like you're in charge. The wedding coordinator is likely to show up in the background of many of your priceless photos so it would be great if she looked like she belonged at a wedding. Thirty minutes before the ceremony, as guests were beginning to arrive, the coordinator asks me if the bride will have a problem with them having another couple's rehearsal right now. Uhmm....I'm not the bride but I would be LIVID if my guests had to watch another couple's rehearsal in my decorated and paid for ceremony space as my guests were arriving. It was so weird to be waiting for an actual ceremony to start and having a loud, tipsy bridal party walk down the aisle instead of the bride we were all waiting for. The food at the reception was just okay. Most of the people at our table were complaining that their steak was severely overcooked but when I looked at my plate it was saturated in blood. Rare was an understatement. Thankfully, after the server said he would have to "check" to see if I could have another plate I got a lovely well-done meal and we really enjoyed the evening. Three stars because the winery itself is a great environment for an afternoon to relax, but there are so many wineries in Temecula I don't know why you would book your wedding here with such basic courtesies completely overlooked. read more

We were there at Wiens last year and picked up a couple of bottles of their 2005 reserve zin. Now I'm a big fan of this varietal, and paid some decent coin for their "special" wine that they grew out by the lake in the back country. It was one of those deals where you pay for the tasting, they check you out, during that process (and figure you either are a snob or want to be) and then start offering you the special stash. We didn't care for the regular wines but bought two bottles of this reserve because I liked it. We stashed them in the storage locker at 55 degrees, because I figured they would hold like a Turley. Big mistake. This week, we retreived them. Opened the first bottle and was very surprised by the plastic cork. As we all know, that's for wines that are meant to drink in 1 -3 years (and here it was 2010!). Oops. We decanted, but the wine was that horrible rosey oxodized color and smelled and tasted like it, and that was that. I should have known - 17% ! So guess what? We are going down to Wiens tomorrow with the opened bottle and the unopened one - let's see what they do . . . Update - they get an extra star since today they took back the offending wine and we could now get credit for their current wines (with a free tasting). We sampled their present selection and except for the super-expensives, it was not exceptional. Surprisingly, one of their guys insisted the wine we returned was still ok since the high alcohol content gives it that port-like (and not too familiar) effect to the zin. Not my style. But Dave was great and Sharon was friendly. We left with four bottles of fresh wine (two GSMs and two spicy merlots). Well done Wiens gang - great customer service. read more

Wiens is nothing short of fantastic. Do yourself a favor and stop by this lovely winery when you can. I sincerely doubt you will be disappointed! The inside of the Wiens winery is very polished, beautiful, and professional looking. It makes it look a little more commercial as far as looks go, but it is stunning nonetheless. Out of all the wines we tried (and between four people we were able to try a LOT), nearly all of them were received well or absolutely adored. We had a stellar server, named Terry, who went up and beyond the call of duty to see to us being cared for and entertained. So if any Wiens' staff is reading this, give this woman a raise! As far as tasting pricing goes, $10 for six tastings is fantastic - doubly so since the quality of these wines are top-notch. I am not sure what I would label as Wiens' specialty...but being most of the wines we walked out with were reds (which is impressive since half of my group are not huge red fans), then I'd say that's a pretty good indicator. The overall winners for tasting were... - Amour de L'Orange Champagne (It's like a mimosa, but better! Get this by the case!) - Clementine (Bursting with sweet orange flavor. It's a lot like the Amour de L'Orange, but "thicker" and more like a heavily orange-infused muscat.) - Crowded (If I can recall, it was described to us as a blend with six different grapes "all crowded together and vying for the spotlight". It sounds like it would be a chaotic wine, and it was...but in all the right ways. It was like an everlasting gobstopper of tastes, but it had a sense of unity about it so that it can be properly paired with food while being just as enjoyable to drink on its own.) - Dulce Maria 2008 (Sweet as can be, but so gentle... Terry described it to us as a wine maker's "mother's milk". I can agree with this!) - Reserve Barbera 2007 (A more caramel-y and spicy red in comparison to the Crowded, which is more my style compared to the rest of the group. While the Crowded is still my favorite of the reds, this is a VERY close second that is worth a try.) - Reserve Tempranillo-Petite Sirah 2008 (Super heavy, but oh so delicious. For those who like their reds extra bold and flavorful, this is the queen of them all.) Overall, Wiens was worth every drop and penny. We even walked out of there with a Wine Club membership - something that none of us ever would entertain doing before! But Wiens Family Cellars was just that good. read more

My husband and I started here on our day of wine tasting in Temecula and glad we did!!! We were blown away by the grounds, the inside was beautiful and the outside was gorgeous!!! Our server Jakki was fabulous!!! She was extremely knowledgeable about each and every wine we tasted. She showed genuine interest to get to know us and talk to us on a personal level. We also told her that this was our first stop and she gave us a map run down on where to go and who to talk to. The wines at Weins were by far the best of the day. Each were smooth and drinkable. My personal favorite were the sweeter ones like the Dulce Maria. White crowded was one of our favorites as well. We also got a special treat, wine straight from the barrel!!! The staff is always generous and witty , traits difficult to find in this region. Always visible are the winemakers or various members of the family which really proves that they love what they do. The De L'Orange is exquisite to say the least and is a great way to finish your tasting every time. Erica was the BOMB ! She had some funny behind the scenes knowledge and always kept all 5 of our glasses filled with liquid love ! My husband and I decided to do some wine tasting in Temecula a week ago Sunday. He googled wineries that catered to red wines, as that's what we prefer. Our first (and last) stop was Wiens Family Cellars. We decided to get one tasting ($20 for 6 pours) and split it. Able was the gentlemen who served us. Not only did he treat us exquisitely, he sold us on a membership because the wines were that good! (And we aren't easily swayed into memberships of any kind!) We walked out with six bottles and signed up to receive two every other month. I like deep reds with a very smooth finish. If this is what you're into, I highly recommend their 2016 Cab Franc. Their Cab Sauv is good too, but the Franc was excellent! Second up was from their Artist Series, 2017 Crowded. I could sip this with just about anything! It's made up of Cab Sauv and Primitivo grapes. I'm not really into dessert wines but because we were having so much fun, I wanted to try their Late Harvest Primitivo. Able handed me a dark chocolate Hershey's kiss, poured a sample, smiled, and walked away to help someone else. WOW! We ended up getting two bottles of that too. It was amazing! A few friends & I went for a wine-tasting party from one winery to another this past Saturday (20th October 2012)...this was our 2nd stop. I absolutely loved the wines (save for the Cab)...our sommelier was a beautiful woman named Natalie...she explained the wines very well. Unlike my friends, I didn't go in order of the wine tasting...and went backwards starting out with a Port which was utterly delicious. I ended up having 2 portions of the Barbera which was my favourite. Natalie was utterly top-notch when she even poured me a sample of your champagne...magnifique! I don't quite know if management ever reads these reviews or not...but Natalie is a well-versed sommelier. God, if she was single...I'd have married her on the spot!
