We got lucky and were able to get a couple of days of leftovers out of one meal, too! Her pricing is very fair, especially given that she does all the menu planning, shopping, prep, cooking and cleanup. Each guest would grab a plate and either corn or flour tortillas and place them into disposable taco "holders". Then proceed to fill the soft shells and add side dishes of your choice. This is what WE decided. Josh does what YOU want. We decided to purchase several fruits and the Costco cake and pick those up ourselves. We could have had Josh do these things also. We provided serving dishes-both heated and unheated. We did not have everything needed so Josh filled-in with the rest. Based upon our decisions on HOW MUCH we wanted Josh to do, he gave us his PRICE - to add to foods he purchases based upon OUR preferences. We agreed! On the day of the 5:30 party, he showed-up at 2:45 and after bringing-in all his equipment and food, he became our personal CHEF. He cooked, sliced and diced so that ALL WAS READY for the 5:30 party! For the next 3 hours Josh ensured everyone had a full drink glass, full plate, cut-up the cake and served, and finally prepared "take-away" containers for all who wanted stuff. The pasta machine is super cool and I won't share the secret to the best alfredo sauce...you'll just have to take the class and learn it yourself! Then while we let the pasta sit we worked on the ragu. Veggies galore and Joni is great at ensuring everything can be vegetarian and working with your dietary preferences. Joni shared many different techniques and also the science behind the making of the food. For example, reasons that cooking a veggie a certain way provides more flavor. For dessert, tiramisu. Honestly, we were stuffed but always leave room for dessert! Anything you don't eat you can take home! Joni is super organized and was very accommodating of my wild schedule. She asked good questions like "Why did you choose this class?", "What do you hope to learn from it?", "What are your goals?" etc. Really appreciate this since she can cater the class to exactly your needs. She was also very accommodating when I told her that one of our team members was a vegetarian so she made sure she had a vegetarian option on hand during our class. I don't want to spoil too much of the class but I'll share some of the highlights for me at least. Preparing the Fettuccine Dough from scratch including folding it, kneading it, was a really fun experience. Also running through the dough through the pasta machine to stretch it and finally cut it into actually the noodles was such a cathartic experience. I'm really happy I got to experience that. The Ragu was so delicious and so healthy at the same time as we barely used any vegetable oil and we put in so many vegetables. Finally, the tiramisu making was actually pretty easy but delicious at the same time. Now that I have been through how to make Tiramisu, I am confident I can make it for a party without issue. Also, if you can't finish all the food you make, Chef Joni gives you take-out boxes to bring home so you can enjoy the food again! Unfortunately, my mom and I CAN agree that the food is now the only positive component of our interaction. This company has been so unprofessional and dismissive of my family's reasonable concerns regarding our wedding post event and it is all very upsetting, especially following such a joyous event. The gist is that we had a few basic points of feedback that we wanted addressed, which included the salads not being individually plated and pre-set (the salad type was specifically chosen given options delineated by the caterer for this purpose), running out of potable water (of which we paid for), and a variety of guest service concerns including the bartender informing guests that they were "running out of wine" when we had cases of wine available to be brought out. Our contact responded to our concerns very unprofessionally and over-reactively (IMHO) in her first email. Then, when my mom took the time to provide further detail and support of the issues at hand, and express her own frustrations as a key financial stakeholder in the wedding, that email was met with a very terse response that didn't even address any of the items that had been thoughtfully (and factually) laid out. All our contact said was that they "take all clients concerns seriously" and then "wished us all the best" and then, that was that. Short and not so sweet. Never an apology or ownership, just defensiveness, blame, and then a couple thank you for the feedback. We paid this company thousands of dollars for our once in a lifetime event and not having concerns addressed appropriately and professionally is just a complete let down, on multiple levels. I understand that there are not a ton of options out on the peninsula. What I am confused about is the lack of adherence to even a base line of customer service, let alone this "superior service" that they boast. To make matters even more disappointing, to date we have not been contacted by Chef Sunshine herself (not to mention neither she or Chef Patrick checked in on us once at our Tasting which is fairly standard practice). Since our venue typically uses a list of set caterers they require any outside caterers to tour the premises so they have a clear proposal for how they use the space. Sunshine, her husband, and their chef all drove nearly 80 miles and took a ferry to spend the afternoon touring the space. We were also able to sit down with Sunshine and plan out a menu that worked perfectly with our theme and worked well within our budget. Their prices were extremely reasonable and well worth every cent! During our wedding they went out of their way to make sure my husband and I got to try everything, packaged up all the leftovers for us, and even helped clean up! Without a doubt, hiring Sunshine's was the best decision we made during our wedding planning process. I couldn't be happier with the results and encourage anyone thinking of hiring them to do so without a doubt!
