We wanted to have some Asian for our Friday lunch and went ahead and ordered some food from Grubhub We ordered kung pao chicken and Master Gees chicken and requested for spicy. Food arrived warm, quantity really good and the rice was not plain but fried rice. Kung pao chicken was one of the good ones we tried, have nice flavor and lot or veggies. But, the spice level was very minimal. Master Gees was such a disappointment we requested for a 4 level spice and it was super sweet. We just couldn't eat it. I wish we ordered something else. Not sure if we want to give it a try again but for now it's a pass. read more

Wild Ginger Asian Bistro is located in an aesthetically pleasing strip mall in Gilbert and the decor inside is simple but clean. It felt a little dark inside, but low lighting obviously doesn't impact your food at all! Our server was exceptionally kind and patient with our daughter that came with us. She brought out her fried rice ahead of our mains to help manage our busy toddler. That was greatly appreciated and thoughtful. We ordered the egg rolls which are HUGE. I mean absolutely massive and thick, which made it difficult to really enjoy the crispy shell. The flavor of these was good, but the ratio of filling to shell is off due to the size of them. Chicken lo mein was about what I expected but not as tasty as I secretly hoped it would be. The noodles were well cooked as were the veggies, but it was more oily than flavorful. It left me a little disappointed. The shrimp pad thai had a sweeter flavor and wasn't very spicy which was surprising. All in all, this was a decent place to dine it. Thought I give this place a try since it had good reviews. Well restaurant was very clean staff was friendly. Order the wild ginger platter which was $16.. 2 ribs which were ok.. 2 fried shrimp which was 80% batter and rest shrimp, like pop corn shrimp tiny. All I taster was batter, 2 spring rolls which weren't bad, 2 pot stickers was blend, I didn't eat the crab ragoon, wings were nice and crispy. Not to mention only came with on little dish of sweet and sour sauce for all the appetizers.. Very disappointed. Also order wild ginger chicken $14. Pretty good portion but again too much batter and sauce was sweet and blend... So over all the food were very blend and nothing stood out. I was hoping for the dishes to be good for me to return and try some other dishes but I would have to say I would not come back here. I think I would compare the place to panda express. I've been looking for a decent General Tso's chicken and I've definitely found one here. I usually make my own so I wanted to see what it tastes like at a restaurant. I've noticed that my recipe is more tangy and spicy while restaurants usually make theirs sweeter. This one was definitely on the sweeter side, but it wasn't too saucy and the chicken pieces were of good quality. We really wanted to like Wild Ginger. It is cute, clean and conveniently located. We read some reviews and thought we would give it a try. My first thought looking at the menu was that white onions seemed to be in way too many dishes for me so I ordered Lemongrass Chicken thinking it might have fewer, and don't get me wrong here, I like white onions, but they can overpower a delicate sauce which wasn't the case as there was very little sauce and virtually no lemongrass. The chicken was very sub-par and the "dollar-extra" fried rice was plain rice that had been tossed with soy sauce, there was nothing extra in the rice at all. I left half my meal and was correct about the white onions, they are used as filler, to take up space. very disappointing. The hot and sour soup, although generous in size, has very little in it, I have had it with bits of shrimp or chicken, snow peas etc, but that is not how Wild Ginger does it. The biggest problem were the dirty forks, and do look at the forks they give you, they were a big turn-off. We asked for chopsticks. We won't return but think that perhaps you should try it for yourself as there were other diners there and I have to believe that some were return customers. read more

I like many of their recipes, meat and veggies are good quality, portions fair, many of the dishes are very good or even great. But I've had food from here many times at this point, and every time, my palate tells me they use Gilbert Municipal tap water for everything they make. The soups, the boiling of the vegetables for your dish, making the rice, the noodles, pretty much everything. Every time I eat here, the aftertaste of chlorine and minerals lingers for hours after. And their soups are a joke w/how much they charge vs. what you actually get. For what they charge, they could invest in a water treatment system, put it like that. read more

Just wanted to add that I tried the Orange Tofu last night and it was beyond delicious! The sauce is incredible and they cook the tofu perfectly. Lightly fried on the outside and soft on the inside. September 24, 2020 First time visiting Wild Ginger. I ordered a chicken lo mein, an orange chicken, and a sesame chicken to go. The gentleman at the counter was patient in taking mh order. The food arrived to go in 10 minutes as he stated. The chicken lo mein was packaged in a styrofoam container without inside divisions for support. Due to the weight of the two meals on top it crushed and cracked the lid of the chicken lo mein container. Just an FYI is all. We live about 9 minutes from the restaurant. The food was still very nice and hot. I opened the sesame chicken and tried a piece. It appears to be breast meat in a non crispy breading covered with sauce. I felt it was on the mild side in flavor. I tried the orange chicken. It looked and tasted just like the sesame chicken but with a light orange flavor, and a very light touch of spiciness. Overall I liked the flavor, but not the mushiness of the breading on either one. The chicken lo mein I felt to be without really much flavor at all. I also ran into several pieces of chicken which had a rubbery/chewy texture to them. The fried rice was pretty good. An average experience for my preferences. read more

It's located in the same parking lot with Tia Rosa, it's a pretty nice sized restaurant that can seat a large party if needed. Pretty large menu to work with and a range of great Asian cuisine from Chinese to Thai food Our party really wanted to have a good range or food so we went with beef and snow peas, lemongrass chicken, Kung Pao and the appetizer plate. Starting with the appetizer plate, it has egg rolls, cream cheese wontons, chicken wings, and ribs. Best thing on the plate was the ribs by far. I could of had an order of those for sure. Everything else was pretty average at best. As for the king Pao, it was pretty saucey which I don't really care for but works for others. Still a good dish. The lemongrass chicken really seemed to lack the key element of lemongrass. I really was hoping for that flavor to come through but it lacked it We did try out the ginger ice cream which is pretty solid. Lots of ginger taste, not a super creamy ice cream but really good. We live a mile away and try yo get there every month or so. I usually get the Mongolian beef with white rice and my spouse likes the teriyaki chicken. Both are very tasty. Very reasonably priced food also We either take out or eat in which is a pleasurable experience as the waitresses are very kind and efficient. Updating this review to 4 stars because although it's still a go to place, we've had a few take out orders that weren't as good as the initial food we got. For instance, we still love the chicken Lo mein but the pad thai left something to be desired. The fried rice can either be really good or it can be lacking in flavor. Consistency is an issue. First trip I got the chicken curry, which had a nice flavor and kick to it. We like our other place a bit better because it has a hint more coconut flavor, but this place is a close second for curry. Typical large portions mean that we will have delicious leftovers. Second time, I got the sweet and sour chicken. It was a good traditional dish. My friend said her chicken and veggies ramen was pretty plain. Kung Lao chicken was very good. Across the board the food is above average. I will be happy to come back and try more dishes here. The meat and chicken is just simply not giving off a real meat texture. It's rubbery, plastic-y it sort of looks like synthetic meat. I have a hard time with texture in foods and I couldn't get myself to eat my Mongolian beef. My partner couldn't get himself to eat his plate either which had chicken. They resembled the same "fake" meat appearance and TEXTURE. I'm sorry, but if anyone is super suspicious about everything and super picky I think this review might help. I have been here twice now and I must say that this place offers up some great Asian food! They also have unique items and flavors that aren't typical of your traditional Chinese food and they're also willing to substitute items and are super nice to do it. The first time I ordered the lemongrass chicken only I substituted chicken for tofu and it was super flavorful and delicious. They use the perfect amount of sauce so the flavor doesn't get lost in the rice. The second visit I had Kung pao tofu, which you can get pretty much anywhere but this dish was super flavorful and you can tell they make their Kung pao sauce from scratch. Again, it was the perfect amount of sauce so the rice didn't take away the flavor. Definitely give this restaurant a try if you're in the mood for some tasty Asian food. read more
