OMG - Great little cafe. Yummy coffee and dessert. The meat pies are homemade and look amazing!

We visited OMG based on the stellar reviews, and amusing name, and it did not disappoint!…read more We each had burgers and fries for lunch, and they were absolutely phenomenal! The fries were a perfect golden colour, the aioli was smooth and creamy. But the burger was the real star of the show, cooked to absolute perfection, juicy and full of flavour! It did get a little bit messy but that seemed to add to the overall experience. Phoenix cola served chilled in a glass was a nice touch. The service overall was very pleasant, and everyone here -both staff and patrons- were very friendly and happy to be there. If you can, sit outside on a nice day! You won't regret it. I suspect even sitting outside on a not-so-nice day, under the grapevine wrapped awnings, would still be quite nice.

Wow! What a great find OMG is…read more I walked in by accident after seeing a sign about a brisket and egg burger special. Since there is a cluster of restaurants right there at the corner of Kitchener & Ohio Streets, I walked in to OMG to ask whether that special was theirs. They said "yes," and then I took a seat inside. Their attentiveness was obvious from the first moment--again, friendly, but not overbearing like tip-dependent waitresses sometimes are in North America. I alternatingly had a male and female server, with both of whom I talked about the Wairarapa Valley, Martinborough wines, the weather, the USA... Good times. As for that brisket and egg burger, I also ordered it with fries and a white Chardonnay from Martinborough. I honestly forgot what I got for dessert. But, what an excellent meal! That brisket was just tender and had so much "personality," and the eggs and ciabatta bread just gave that burger a nice touch. I don't think they sell it all the time, but rather it was just on special (maybe I'm wrong, though...) As a neat little aside, there is a bus stop located caddy-corned across the street from the restaurant. I was standing at that bus stop the next day, and that same female server just happened to walk by and wished me a safe journey. Now that's a small town, for you! Well worth the visit when in beautiful Martinborough.

As observed by earlier reviewer, carpark was full, situated next to a garden centre in this rural area. We queued up and waited whilst orders were taken, paid, #'s on a little stand, food beverages arrived a reasonable time later at self secured table. Reasonably tidy, self serve water, not particularly comfortable seating, room is ok accoustically, view to working bakery area, not a luxury / fine dining environment "Loos" were clean / we had a wash up / rest stop / much needed travel break. . As a 6th birthday was being 'celebrated' by the business, a lagniappe sweet chocolate mini profiterole type creation was placed silently in our midst. I wouldn't classify the service as hospitable...more like "functional", a 2.5 rating. Lunch special was a BURGER served with fries, classified as gluten free: we ordered that and a sausage roll, two decaf coffees. A FIRST for me! a 'burger' sans meat patty (or otherwise in the case of a vegetarian or fish burger). Twas in fact a SANDWICH: lettuce, tomato, avocado, bacon, relish. What's the Bush Senior quote ?......"Where's the beef" ? Barely warm string potato fries. Tiny ramekin of red sweet sauce 20 bucks the plate lunch 'special' Edible, as was the sausage roll (not gluten free) Rated 2.8 for food, 1.8 for "value", (1.0 for marketing / communication) Coffees (4.0) were better than savories. Nice hot almond milk on the side was appreciated. Gratis confection was UBER sweet, she said she couldn't consume it.....I'm off sweets so ....... we left it behind. No one inquired is 'everything's ok' ? (usually the case when it's 'iffy'. innit ) In the past, we'd stopped to pick up wonderful loaves of artisanal bread at Clareville bakery, dined a couple of times, not reviewed. Probably the pick of LOCAL dining spots in this provincial farming area, hence the brisk lunchtime trade.... For us ...we can stop en route anywhere ? Unless we're taking their lovely bread away..... (some of the best in NZ) Not hurrying back to Clareville Bakery for a dine in / restaurant type experience. Pleased to share with y'all. Not as scathing as Michael T's, OUR opinion is a rounded up 3 on the yelp meter. pics to follow
