Stopped there 2 years ago with friends on UTV. Sign was out front with brushes to clean your clothes off so you didn't drag in mud, which we had no problem with. Recently I heard they reopened and now have a sign out front that they will no longer be serving ATV and UTV patrons. Such a shame as they advertise that they are right on the trails, but apparently don't want our business. $125 for 3 meals is a little ridiculous. They just opened again and will lose business because they discriminate who can go there.

Have you ever seen a baked potato buttered like this?

Somewhere along the line, I heard good things about The Wildcat Inn. I thought it might have been a television show or tourism promo but it turns out, The Wildcat Inn hasn't been a part of any of those, at least, that my server could remember. No matter. I found it without much effort. It's right on the northwest corner of Cty B and US 10, west of Neillsville. (Is Cty B old US 10? It certainly seems like it.) The parking lot was full of pickup trucks, sedans and some ATVs promising an eclectic, and hungry, clientele. A sign on the door indicates that muddy ATVs are not welcome and should clean up before entering. The decor is pure Wisconsin Supper Club, so is the ambiance. You'll find the namesake stuffed and mounted on a canoe above the bar. Two mounted bear are wrestling behind glass, you'll see deer heads, a turkey, an old Johnson Sea Horse, several snow shoes and a myriad of advertising signs, both antique and modern, adorning the walls. The tables are slabs cut from tree trunks and a large fireplace breaks the huge space into a large dining room and a smaller, more intimate area where several couples were seated, including us. In fact, along that wall, there are picture windows overlooking a collection of farm memorabilia and a smiling piglet. Rock a bye baby, don't you cry, you'll be a sausage by and by. I ordered a bourbon Old Fashioned and my server insisted that I choose a brand ("We have a wide selection of bourbons") so I opted for my old friend, Jim Beam. It was made with a more than ample pour of bourbon, too. My dinner date ordered a cranberry wine, which she reported was mildly sweet and very good. We both ordered the Friday Fish Fry and while we waited, I went out back and snapped some pictures of the farm displays. Dinner came out of the kitchen about the same time I returned, much faster than I anticipated. Two pieces of cod were well breaded making a tasty, crispy shell. No potato pancakes here, so we opted for baked potatoes. The potatoes came with a huge slab of butter that would make my cardiologist cry. They use pre-packaged sour cream but if you ask for more, they gladly provide it. Cole slaw was more like a salad with large chunks of ingredients that I actually had trouble chewing. (My issue, not their's.) Our plates had a garnish of delicious sweet pickles that tasted home made. Later guests received a wedge of watermelon, apparently they went through their allotment of home made pickles for the night. The Wildcat Inn is a delightful holdover from the days when supper clubs were more common in Wisconsin than McDonalds. That's no longer true and in most surviving supper clubs, the traditional relish tray and bread basket is no longer a part of the meal and I miss the sweet peppers. The Old Fashioned is still the predominant cocktail and most places still muddle it the old way, as it should be. The rest of the crowd finds a wide selection of beers. Drink hearty! Overall, this was a great experience and I would return often if it weren't so darned far away from both home and cottage. It was convenient for me, right on the way back to the cottage from a day trip. It's just a couple of miles west of The Highground, so I was able to stop there and pay my respects. If you find yourself in the Neillsville area, keep The Wildcat Inn in mind.

Try it! Not the same as everyone else.

I wish I had taken pictures of the back yard .... Adorbs! So flipping cute. But it's more than that - it has a menu that makes it a true Supper Club. Tonight's special included chartruie platter, shrimp on grits, so many more things that are just not ordinary bar food. God! Get the Slow Roast 'which! No regrets. Inside - also enjoy their Bourban Bar - protected by their own wildcat. Ps. Look around the corner for the bear display. I am coming back...I want this food again. Thank you for a great food and personal experience.

I went 2 night in a row and was impressed by both meals. Ribs were very good and the side of hash browns with fried onions and cheese were excellent. I also had the twin lobster tails with the hash browns again for 30$, which was one of the best deals I've had in a while. I would highly recommended if you're in the Neillsville area.

The food was so good! seated quickly, ordered in a timely matter and our food came out in a normal amount of time. Everything was hot and fresh! I had Cesar salad, French onion soup, rib eye, scallops, and lobster tail. Husband had rib eye, lobster, baked potato and carrots Everything had flavor and was cooked perfectly and not over cooked at all! It's hard for me to eat in neillsville as everywhere you go, it's all deep fried bar food.. not this time. It was nice to eat real food. The ambiance is great too. We were seated in the bar area, not loud but it was great not to be seated alone too! Service was wonderful, loved our waitress! The prices were great and was worth it!! It was all fabulous, coming from me, a California snob who has overly high expectations of food! I'll be back!! Already looking forward to it!!

Sat on patio because the inside was packed for a Monday night. Tried several tapas for dinner, favorite was the bread service and Brussels sprouts. Also had the wings but the seasoning was a little overpowering. Came back a second night! Loved the steak sandwich. Ribeye had a great flavor. Recommend the relish on the side if you're not into heat. Service was great tonight. I do want to mention the beer selection on draft is great since most are local.

There is as a large sports bar with games playing but, that is not why we came here. We made reservations and still had to wait. When we were seated, it was at a high-top in the bar area with a very wobbly table. We asked to move to a regular table which was done "after they cleaned one off. So..... I would expect some bread and butter at the table. When we asked they said they didn't "do that" they did make us some burnt pieces of toast with olive oil. It was gross. What I will say, and what saves this review at 4 stars are the chefs working on an old school wood burning adjustable rack system with an open to see galley and cooking the steaks to absolute perfection.
