The usual National Trust giftshop and cafe is in attendance and of the requisite quality, but folks, this place is all about the nature. Highlight is a little observation hut where you can hunker down and look out across the fen (ideally with some binoculars) through some narrow slits in the sturcture. Educational wallcharts behind you inform as to what you might be seeing and the whole experience seems designed to make you stop, take stock and enjoy the silence as you zone out and search for the tiny movements which might betray some non-human activity. The windmills are very pretty as well.

Not for those scared of heights, there are plenty of Zip wires.. the longest one is 133m long and the highest point in the course is 36ft high. Prices are fairly high -25 for an adult and 20 for 10-17yr olds, but worth it as a special treat. There are other locations throughout the UK but Thetford was the first one created. Set in Thetford forest it is a great day out, with lots of walks and you can walk around underneath the ropes course if you are not participating so can get up close to take photos etc.

Named after the Queen's Jubilee, these gardens are lovely…read more They do not stretch for miles and miles but they run close to the river and are often host to fairs, festivals and events. Weekly music can also be heard on the band stand in the centre of the gardens. Jubilee gardens are a hotspot for many locals and visitors. Well looked after and enjoyable in spring and summer.

There are some great cycle routes including family ones, which are well marked, and a really really good adventure playground.
