Heads up: download the app! There is a HUGE wait time and reserving a spot is an enormous time saver. ALSO, they give a big discount for veterans and civil servants. So that's the issue with this place; they're so good that it's always packed. Usually wait time, even with a check-in, is anywhere from 1 to 4 hours. No joke. Today was four hours for our regular barber. It's busy because it is mostly filled with millennials needing beard care and cuts. If you're a middle aged guy like me you'll be in the minority, but it's worth it. We've tried several barbers there and we finally picked Kevin as our regular, but that doesn't mean the others we tried weren't top notch. All of them were great and really engaged with my ten year old. They always kept him entertained while doing his cut. Made a big difference. After finding out I was going to be on bed rest due to a complicated pregnancy, I couldn't deal with my hair anymore. I looked on Yelp for a barbershop that had great reviews in my area and that is how I found Wilfred's. The online booking was very convenient and I was grateful I was able to get a same day appointment. When I arrived a friendly man at the front checked me in for my appointment and told me I was going to be with Fras and told me I could wait in the waiting room. The sweetest and friendliest dog came over and allowed me to pet her while I waited, which was really cool. The decor of the shop is really nice. They have a picture of the Vietnam Wall, which was really special to me because my uncle was a POW in Vietnam and his name is on the Vietnam Wall. Before calling me over, Fras sanitized all of the equipment which is not only appreciated but professional as well. I showed him the inspiration picture and he took his time doing a thorough consultation, and he even took the time to point out where he was going with the haircut as we went along. He took his time detailing the edges of the haircut, and thoroughly communicated the whole way through. Some people would have just buzzed it down and been on to the next client, however Fras stepped back, eyed the haircut, and made sure it was perfect. My haircut looked exactly like the inspiration pic, it was exactly what I hoped for. Nobody wants a jacked up fade, but if you're a woman, you ESPECIALLY don't want it jacked up because you're already choosing an avant- garde style so it better be on point! Went here for the first time today. Despite the strange and sour times, the staff was upbeat and made the best of it - masks and temperature taking on arrival and all. Got a GREAT haircut (and not just because it was my first one in 3 months!); they really know their stuff, and I'd give them 5 stars pre-COVID-lockdown craziness as well. The physical shop is old school (circa early 1900s) and it's real (not made to look that way), and while you may not like the decor, at least it's genuine and you know who these guys are and what they stand for. Stopped in here on Saturday morning for the first time after having enough headaches at my prior barber shop nearby. The shop is a really cool place. A solid, old school barber shop for sure. I think there were seven people cutting hair. They don't try to churn out as many haircuts as they can like some of the other haircut mills around. They take their time, and pay attention to details. My barber, Cam, was great and gave me a great cut right off the bat. All the haircuts walking out of that place were spot-on. The place is very clean and the guys are great. I didn't give it five stars for three reasons. First, parking is a bit difficult. Second, I waited for about an hour for a cut, but it was a Saturday morning. Third, a $21 cut isn't insane, but it's on the upper end of prices in the area. That said, I did leave a $9 tip, so it cost me $30 at the end of the day, plus parking. For that reason, I can't see myself going here every week like I can at some of the other spots in town. I'll probably check out some other places just to see what's around, but I definitely see myself going back to Wilfred's. read more

Despite the fact that the say "walk ins only" and "no appointments", apparently they now take appointments -- walking in with my son to find 2 barbers working and no other customers waiting, we were turned away saying that "they were completely booked up." Weren't even offered the option of waiting. Guess business must be VERY good. Shout out to the sketchily-named "VIP Barber and Lounge" on Main Street who did a commendable job on two haircuts and a shave. 5 minute wait, great customer service, solid haircut and . . . didn't turn away our business. read more

For the last two years I've driven to my old barber in Maine (about 2.5 hours) for a haircut because I have not been able to find a barber who is anywhere near as good. So after months of hounding from a coworker, I went to Wilfreds. Nick cut my hair for me. I get a full haircut, beard trim, and shave when I go for a cut, Nick did everything perfectly. This is a great place to go. When I got there, it was busy, but I didn't have to wait. I was taken in right away. I only had a vague idea about how I wanted my hair done. The gentleman who did my hair (Chuck I believe his name is) was helpful in ways that no other barber/stylist was before. He made suggestions about how he thought my hair should be cut based on the shape of my head and my height. I never thought about these things before. I told him I trusted him and go with what he thought would look best on me. I also told him I needed my beard cleaned up. Once again, he kept it simple, he told me what he was going to do BEFORE he did it. I was really happy about that because a few years ago, I went to a barber shop in Manchester. They did a great job with my haircut, but when it came to the line up, I specifically told them I did NOT want a paper thin mustache, and that's exactly what I got. It looked ridiculous on me, I was mad and I haven't been back there since. This was my first experience, and I can't recommend this place enough and I highly recommend this professional barber shop to anyone. Needless to say, they have made a regular customer out of me. I am a contractor from Michigan currently living in Burlington MA. I have a very specific Euro-looking haircut that's relatively simple, but seems to have confused barbers anywhere I've been in Burlington. Someone told me about Wilfred's in Nashua and how skilled these guys are. So being a 45 min drive through traffic, and passing probably hundreds of Barbers along the way, I walked into a Wilfred's hoping to get what I came for. Many reviewers will complain about the wait times and the fact that they don't take appointments. But I think this way they can see more people and, trust me, their popularity is NOT fading. In a way, I think they have become victims of their own success, and that's a great thing. You know a place is successful when you arrive well BEFORE opening time all the way from Burlington, only to find 7 people waiting before me. But hell, for these haircuts, I'll take a flight from Michigan if I can. However, having said that, given the fact that they have at least 4-5 guys cutting (sometimes up to 7) at the same time, wait times are not too bad. The atmosphere, the clientele, the barbers are all worth it. Going to Wilfred's is more like an experience, a guy's guys place, which is missing from many barber shops. Their skills are better than any I've seen anywhere, and given the specificity of my haircut, I've tried many different barbers and none of them can get it right like Wilfred's. You just have to be a bit crafty in timing your day. On several occasions I went there in a suit and a hair straightener (for which I'll hear it from them every time) just so I can make the 45 min trek back to work on time. For me, that's worth it. Without doubt or hesitation, this is unequivocally the best haircut in the original 13 colonies. Children will be reading about Wilfred's in school, and legends about Wilfred's will be told around campfires. Keep up the good work guys. read more
