I am writing this review on behalf of my mother. We visited Meredith Monroe together for an initial…read morefree consultation to evaluate if V.L.I. Hypnosis would be a good option for my mother to assist her in her endeavor to quit smoking. We wanted to meet Meredith to gauge her personality, inquire about her techniques and previous success rates and experiences with smoking cessation, and to determine the average sessions needed and associated costs. After spending about 1.5 hours with Meredith talking and asking and answering questions, it was obvious that she was going to be a great choice for my mother's requirements. It was determined that my mother would need 3, one-hour sessions to achieve her goals. During my mother's first session, I waited patiently at home for her to return after an hour, expecting her to arrive home within 5-minutes after the session was to end. She didn't arrive home until an hour and a half after the expected time. I asked her where she was and she said that she just finished with Meredith. I said to her that it was supposed to be an hour. She replied that Meredith doesn't rush or stick to firm timetables. This was the case with each session. Each session lasted at least 2-hours or more long, not the originally agreed upon 1-hour. My mother paid for the 3, one-hour sessions up-front at the time of the first session. No additional monies were collected for the extra time. My mother explained to me that Meredith's voice was so soothing and calming and that she didn't realize when she was in the "trance state," but felt as though she was floating and that her arms were actually floating above the arms of the chair. Meredith implanted subconscious thoughts into my mother's mind (my mother's words) that she knew she heard, but could not really vocalize what was said due to the state of mind she was experiencing during the hypnosis. After each session, my mother felt stronger and stronger, more positive than the session before and hasn't smoked since the first session. Meredith continued to reinforce the idea that my mother was never going to smoke again and she hasn't. My mother occasionally says she could go for a smoke, but the feeling passes as quickly as it comes on. My mother insists that she'll never smoke again. Meredith indicated, prior to the first session, that she makes herself available 24-hours a day by telephone and email for pep talks and encouragement to keep people on track. My mother highly recommends using V.L.I. Hypnosis for any subconscious addictions or habits that you cannot seem to break or get under control. She swears that Meredith's techniques and approach are outstanding. Meredith, my mother cannot thank you enough!

Most of my experiences with guided meditations were at Canyon Ranch, which is great but incredible expensive, impersonal and brief. But Inner Freedom Therapy is completely the opposite. Before you sign up for a session, Dr. Goldhammer sends you information about your visit and what to expect, and asks you questions about what you would like to achieve. You speak with her prior to the visit, and immediately feel comfortable! I was not used to such personalized attention. During the session, we talked for a little bit, then moved into a hypnosis/guided meditation where I was always in control, just in a more relaxed state. It was extremely enjoyable and remarkably enlightening. Hard for me to explain exactly, but the dreamlike journey allowed me to see certain things in different ways that enabled me to free myself from certain negative thoughts and actions (like smoking). Once the session finished, we said goodbye and she said she'd follow up. I did not actually expect her to do so - but not only did she call and ask if we should talk again to see how I felt, she also sent me a recording so I could continue the relaxation work with the accompanying positive words. I was intrigued when she informed me of her new practice and, before recommending hypnosis to my own patients, I was curious to try it myself. I have had an embarrassing habit of nail biting for as long as I can remember. I did not like the fact that my hands looked unprofessional and was self-conscious of their appearance. Despite many attempts to overcome this habit, I failed. I consider myself very self motivated and was disappointed that I could not control this habit. This is the problem that I asked Dr. Goldhammer to help me solve. I really didn't know what to expect prior to my visit. During my session and for many hours afterwards, I felt very relaxed. There was never a point where I felt I was not in control of myself. I enjoyed the time spent in self reflection. After the visit I thought, if nothing else, it was a very welcome change from my daily routine. However, a curious thing happened. I noticed that the desire to partake in my old habit was no longer there. I don't want to give the impression that there was something magical that happened. It is just that there was a definite shift in my thinking which once and for all, helped me overcome this habit.
