Recently when I was getting the bus into town the bus driver stopped at the bus stop directly across from William Hill, jumped out of his booth and announced that he was "bursting" and had to go. Yeah, yeah, tell it to the judge, the only thing you were bursting for matey was to place your bet on the horses. It was quite funny though and everyone on the bus just sat there bemused till he came back five minutes later. I'm not really sure how many stars to award William Hill, I don't really like the concept of people losing everything they've got but I guess it serves the purpose it's supposed to, so based on that I'll award 3 stars.

It's clean and tidy (well, it has to be if there's hardy anything in it - right?) with comfortable carpets and areas to fill in bookie slips. The counter is, as always, rather uncomfortably behind strong perplex and the staff behind it do their job. Not great, but not bad. It does what it should be and not much more. Alright.

A few friends played a couple of games of roulette but no big wins, it's a slippery slope! It is very modern with plush comfy sofas, and there's even cushions! I was really surprised by how pretty it was inside and I would have liked some of the decor for my own home. The toilets were also immaculate, very stylish and they had full length mirrors so you can check your dress isn't tucked into your pants, classy. My favourite thing in this casino are the verandas which give you stunning views across the Clyde, you can see the Science Centre and the Glasgow Tower in the background which are lit up at night, you can also see all the city lights reflected across the water and it looks beautiful. I guess it's very rarely that the Clyde is described as beautiful but honestly the views from here are amazing and really show the city at its best. I would say that Alea is definitely a step in the right direction, being much better in terms of value, game, and experience than Gala. Why I do not yet know but this has got to be a positive, maybe poker is one of those things that wakes you up in the middle of the night. That was until I started noticing the buzz around the Grand National, and wanted to try and place a bet on one of the horses. Even if I didn't understand, I might still get a few quid out of it through sheer luck! My boyfriend came with me, and we got our betting slips and sat down in front of one of the many tv sets in this branch of Betfred. It is quite a big shop, with two roulette machines and plenty of seating to sit and catch the races. I decided on 'Hello Bud' and 'Flintoff', and put a £2 on them both each way, which meant that I would win if they came 1st, 2nd or 3rd. It cost an extra £2 each, and the maximum win was £104! I crossed my fingers as I collected my slip and went to work. Turns out I didn't win. My horse actually fell! Gutting. My jammy boyfriend put £1 on the winner though, so he got about £60 back! I owuld definitely come here again if I ever get the gamblers itch; nice shop, helpful staff and great facilities and information available.

My colcannon was a little bland, acceptable but basic, just kale and potato, I would have liked leeks or something to add a bit of sweetness and pungency to it. It's £5 in on a Saturday and the first race is usually about quarter to eight with the last one being around quarter past ten. There is a newish bar called the dugout and it stays open until 12am, this is ideal to be as i would recommend booking a taxi for your journey home as it can be a bit quiet outside the stadium. There is a huge car park but it would be worth leaving the car as it is a reasonably priced round. There is a restaurant which is a set menu and is a bit school dinners eg steak pie, chicken in a basket etc but it was packed last Saturday so you should book a table rather than turn up. There is also a snack bar which will do you chips n gravy, burgers, tunnocks tea cakes and rolls etc. I prefer going in the summer as its nice to get a seat outside, also its a good place to come for a few pints before moving on into town.

I did notice that you are able to bet on just about every sporting event that you could have thought of, not to mention when the games are less exciting or the gamblers need extra stimulation there is always the little plastic horse machine to bet on, or a puggy to slot some uncared for change into.
