*PLEASE READ BEFORE HIRING* I can't recommend Bill. In fact it's the complete opposite. If you are looking for a lawyer who will communicate and be honest with you, avoid Bill Duncan. To cut to the chase, I got a speeding ticket near Yreka and decided to hire Bill, and he could not reduce or dismiss it. Now, I understand that it is not always guaranteed so this review is not about that. But he did make it seem like it was an easy win and that he should not have problems fighting it. The problem is that Bill just refuses to communicate with you and will not respond to anything you say, even if you ask questions. During the four-five month period it took to take care of the ticket, he did not contact me ONCE. I reached out to him about three times with questions and he didn't respond to ANY of them. Please see attached pictures for proof. The only time he reached out was when he went to court and failed. He told me he succeeded to fight it "30%. " Oh. I didn't realize the courts gave lawyers a grade to how much they succeeded.. NOT. And after that, I replied and asked him a question. Guess what. He didn't reply. One yelp reviewer stated that Bill "doesn't hold your hand" with the issue. I understand that lawyers will not be buddy buddy with you and talk to you everyday. But they work with clients and it is UNACCEPTABLE to not establish any sort of relationship and communication, especially when most clients are uneasy about what will happen to them after a ticket. So terrible communication, bad result. I understand there aren't too many lawyers in the Yreka area, but I'm sure any other person would be better. If you are reading this because you need a lawyer, pass on and find someone else- it'll save you from trouble later. read more

I am so thankful I hired Attorney Duncan. I spoke to him on the phone before I hired him and he told me what my possible outcomes may be. He was very informative and told me how the court works and told me there may be a way for this ticket to be dismissed. Today he informs me that my ticket has been dismissed! Set up your expectation. 1. Normal traffic ticket. 2. I was using Off the Record to hire Duncan. 3. There is almost no communication with Duncan, only when he will go to the court. If you are a person with a lot of questions, you will suffer. 4. The ticket is dismissed in the end. read more

Worst attorney I have ever used (and I have used quite a few). I got a speeding ticket on the 5 in Yreka. Hired Duncan to deal with it. FEDEXed cash retainer. Never got a rep form, or receipt (have FEDEX receipt). Was offered traffic school by court, but he told me he would take care of it. He forgot. More headaches. Had to clear an FTA. Final court date approached, I had to remind him the day before. Guilty. WTF. No attorney would have been better; at least I would have been able to do school. Be forewarned. Update 11/23/16: Money says the other two reviews are shills. Duncan actually had a second Yelp profile a while back; now gone. I'm guessing he 'discovered Yelp', and had the other mediocre profile killed. Understand that your choices are limited for simple ticket representation in the backwater of Yreka, but I stand by my previous recommendation that 'NO LAWYER WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER'. $300 + FEDEX totally wasted. How can you win a case if you don't communicate with your client. It means either you lie in court or just cross you fingers so the cop issued the ticket doesn't show up, so you can win a simple traffic ticket. I guess it was in my best interest to have explained my situation directly to the judge than OTR who find him to defend you. read more

Here's the thing, he's really busy and answering the phone by himself from what I can tell. So he doesn't have time for updates or to hold your hand about the problem, just to get it done for you. And he does get it done and make it happen. If you get caught for a violation he's great at getting things reduced or dismissed, but don't expect to get much communication outside of him getting the retainer and letting you know the results. read more

An awesome and honest attorney Bill helped me with traffic ticket. Unfortunately it was not possible to get it dismissed, but still Bill did his best. Since I'm not local to Siskiyou it was troublesome to attend all the meetings and Bill took care of everything. read more

Where do I begin. Mr Duncan is NOT a top notch attorney. He was very lax in defending my loved one. He gave bad advise that was detrimental to the case. It was apparent that he was working against us. Certainly not with us.He did not explain things, or take the time to go over critical issues in the case. Today I got some good news...I and I just want to thank God...for his flavor he has given me.Someone I knew told me I should always get me a lawyer for any situation I happened to get my self into...something his mama always told him.Well a few months ago I happened to get a speeding ticket in California clock At 62 in Yreka California in the snow...speed is 45 during bad road conditions especially in the snow. I found out I could not renew my license because I had an outstanding ticket that we got for registration not being current. I was in the wrong. I thought my wife had taken care of it. 2 years after we were pulled over for this on the way home from a trip to Portland, my wife had no recollection of anything whatsoever. I called the court, and the rude clerk (aren't they always?) said I have 2 options. Pay, or appear. I wasn't about to drive up to the court several hundred miles away, and paying that enormous fine wasn't an option either. I chose the 3rd option--find an attorney on yelp! There were only a couple in the area. I chose William Duncan because he was willing to listen to me for a few minutes without charging me in 15 minute increments, unlike the other attorney. Mr. Duncan assured me that 95% of cases like mine are at least reduced to a minimal fine of like $25, or dismissed altogether, in his experience. It still felt like a gamble, but I decided to take him on his word. His fee was very reasonable for having to prepare for this and make 2 trips to court. I cooperated with everything he asked. Note that we had actually taken care of the registration right away after returning home, so I think that helped. It took a while, and my license expired before the trial, but it turns out William Duncan's word was accurate! My case was dismissed. He saved me over $600. Thank you, William Duncan! read more
