Insane! What I wasn't expecting to find was the most wonderfully bizarre and well-stocked shop in Kirkwall. Actually I was surprised at how good some of the shops in Kirkwall were full stop. William Shearer sells 'provisions', and hardware, and gardening and fishing equipment! It sells everything, and has done since the 19th century. I wandered in out of curiousity, and was amazed to discover that amongst everything else, it has a ridiculously comprehensive 'real foods' section with a selection of different flours, many, many gluten free products and all sorts of interesting and I'd have assumed difficult to source baking ingredients.
