The defendant declined to pay the fees presented immediately after trial so a hearing needed to be held. That first hearing got scheduled in June 2025. The day before this hearing my attorney advised me that the defendant's attorney had a medical emergency and needed to reschedule. I am a little suspect of the timing, but let's assume this delay was unavoidable. The second attempt for this hearing was scheduled for July 2025. The defendant's attorney did not show up for this hearing and apparently the cause was that Mr. Wentz did not file the correct paperwork. To his credit he told the judge it was his fault and he would get it corrected. The third attempt at this hearing finally occurred in August 2025. Let's not forget though that each delay adds cost to the client. Attorneys sending e-mails back and forth to each other can add up quickly at $250/hr.
