I was given the name of an attorney who would be handling my will and I was emailed an intake form, which I promptly completed. Two weeks later, when I called to have the consultation appointment, I was told that the attorney I was assigned would not be available at our scheduled time because the form was missing key information. Why wasn't this brought to my attention sooner? I pressed the matter, believing I had filled out the intake form comprehensively, as much as was possible given the obvious constraints of certain form fields. The legal assistant on the phone apologized and sent me a new form and said the attorney now needed me to fill it out because there were fields added that were not a part of the old form. Evidently the form they initially requested was changed within the time I waited for the consultation appointment, but this was never brought to my attention nor communicated proactively. This is all to say that this was very disappointing--to learn of the mishandled intake form and a request for a new form to be filled out, albeit at the time of the consultation appointment, an appointment that had been scheduled for approximately two weeks. It may seem like a small detail, and yet it was enough to erode my confidence that other matters would be handled prudently.

When you get a speeding ticket an attorney is not the first thing that usually comes to mind, but…read moreit should be. The why will be explained in my review of Attorney Gary Searcy. A speeding ticket can happen to anyone, even granny me who rarely speeds above a posted limit. When pulled over be as nice to the officer as you can and hopefully if no priors you can catch a break with a warning. My experience was professional and polite with the officer, but this motorcycle cop was all about writing tickets. So at that point it's pay the fine and admit guilt. Or the alternative is fight it yourself, or retain counsel. I had no referral of Attorney Searcy, he solicited me in the mail as did several others. I called and talked with him directly and he went over my case free of charge and offered advice, again free of charge. I did talk to others too, but he was by far the most friendly to talk to and helpful with no obligation. As the court date loomed I decided to call Gary back and retain his counsel. Cost for a straight forward speeding ticket without DUI, reckless etc was $175. Others were charging up to $400. So he was both on the reasonable end and who I liked best anyway. A few things I was requested to do. Obtain a current driving record from the DMV and get a calibration from Beach Calibration. On the court date Attorney Searcy was prompt and met with me. We waited our turn for my docket to be read and stood before the judge and police officer, then was sworn in. The judge took a hardline and my attorney advised an appeal. Of course it's an additional cost and a gamble, but why not. If the case could be settled before the cost would be minimal. So today was D Day and again Mr. Searcy was prompt and professional. The prosecutor refused to settle the case with no points which was what my attorney wanted. The officer was in the court room. The judge heard the evidence and sided with me. No points and reduced down to improper equipment which was the goal. Case closed. So why get an attorney for a simple speeding ticket if you decide to fight it? Because counsel knows the players. My attorney knew the judges, he knew the officer and although it did not work out to negotiate the prosecutor. In the end it was worth it. A simple speeding ticket remains on your record for 3 years. Insurance will go up several hundred a year and may not go back to a normal rate for over 5 years. I can't say enough great things about Searcy Law. Gary has years of experience and can help you with your traffic case.

Not sure why the woman below is mad that he got her case dismissed, that seems like she's complaining for no good reason. He did exactly what was discussed and got the best result possible for me. I really appreciate him and hope he continues to help people in that area. The cop there sucks and they're giving tickets in places where there is no additional chance of accidents at higher speeds. They get 0 stars :P
