Williams came to help when we had a major faucet leak. Much appreciated and got it fixed fast. However I was not here and they talked my wife into changing out the control cartridges in our 3 Moen faucets then charged us $636.16 for 2 of the replacements (total). I have replaced those cartridges myself for $20 each and it took me about an hour. They did comp one of the Moen replacements. So beware and don't let them talk you into something that is easily fixed yourself. read more

Our heating system finally had enough of -20 temperatures and blew up at 4:30 AM today, flooding our basement with an interesting geyser of hot water and pipe scum. Given the fact that we've had extreme cold for the past week or so, we expected to have a long wait for anyone to come out. Shockingly, at about 8 AM we got a return call from Williams and their plumber, Kade, was at our door shortly thereafter. To say that we are thrilled with both Williams and Kade is the understatement of 2024. We're still in the process of having the boiler/pipes/damage repaired, but Kade and Williams are lifesavers. Not only did Kade show up way earlier than we would have ever expected, he quickly started working on fixing the issues and was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Best plumbing service in Bozeman. Rivals any plumbing service we use in the San Francisco Bay Area. Chris Goding our tech was on time, professional, friendly and experienced. Chris fixed the problem with our toilet and we would highly recommend Chris and Williams Plumbing. We have used Williams Plumbing four times this summer for new tankless water heaters, a new toilet, fixing an older toilet and HVAC and Williams has been fabulous. Now that the project is finished, I want to thank Tyler, Jeff and Brian for their professionalism, for being always prompt, polite and, knowledgeable. We purchased our home in June 2022. Poor customer service. I have no heat or hot water. They took my 21,000 for replacement but won't return my calls to schedule the service.

If there was a way to leave zero stars, I would have left zero. I have been a longtime customer, and this year, it was like dealing with a completely different company. It took the technician three visits to the site to do a simple hookup of a heater. He ordered the wrong parts and then had to reorder them. A job that should have taken 2 weeks took 7 weeks. I asked for an estimate for the work, never received one, and then got an enormous bill with no explanation to justify it. The supervisor could not have cared less and was unprofessional. They have terrible communication. I feel like the help in the office is like a High School Student. They do not have anyone in the office that can give you any informations on size of water tanks, what kind they stock, what they would cost. The answer is that the technician can tell you that when they come to give you an estimate. The estimate will cost you $200. The estimate is not given to you onsite, but most likely next day. You then learn that the price they want to charge you is twice what a regular plumber charges for just the water tank. If the office girl could have told me how much they charged for a water tank, I could have said no thank you and checked another plumbing company and not been dinged for $200. It also wasted and hour of my time. The estimate charge is a total scam.... read more

I called them for a leak in the wall. They pulled a shower fixture off and said no, not here. That cost me $200. They didn't replace the fixture properly so I had to call them back. They said it was clogged up by mineral deposits (but was working fine before they pulled it off). The fix cost me over $500. When they replaced it this time, it was still loose. We fixed it ourselves. There was no pride in their work, and no apology. Larcenous and shameful behavior. read more

As a local, and I mean born and raised in Bozeman, this business was always our go to company, so naturally when we needed them last winter for heating issues in our home, we called them. I didn't know that they had changed the way they bill and charge the customers. There was NEVER any mention of this. It is now a price per job billing. We ended up with them coming out three separate times, each bill was over 2,000 dollars, and they want payment that day! They never did fix our heating issues, each time it was " well we have some bad news, etc" our heater kept shutting down in the middle of the night, we awoke to a cold house. Well they didn't know why.... Three visits, over 6,000 dollars, and never fixed it! This year when we turned on our heater, same issues! I called Bell , I called Campbells, Never got a return call. Only voice mail. I called Manhattan heating and plumbing, a REAL live person answered the phone! They had someone at my house the next day! He fixed our heater in less than 20 minutes! All it needed was to be re- wired! I highly recommend this business and will tell everyone I know DO NOT USE WILLIAMS EVER! I feel so angry at them for ripping us off, taking advantage of us and all our hard worked dollars! Shame on you WILLIAMS! I hope the others put you out of business! read more

I have had terrible experiences with Williams Plumbing & Heating in Bozeman MT. I have a crawlspace that every Spring gets several feet of water (ground, large amount of snow this year). They sent a "technician, charged me over $2000 in last two years, and I as left with continued flooding of my crawl. Specifically they installed sump pump with an exit/discharge pipe of 1 and 1/2 inches diameter,and connected it in two places to a 1/8 inch metal washing machine discharge hose. THIS DID NOT MOVE THE WATER TO OUTSIDE of my house at a rate that prevented flooding of crawlspace. What a mess!! I DO NOT recommend Williams Plumbing. read more

I felt vastly overcharged for the simple service that I required. Was told that the company moved to flat-rate pricing. I tried for two weeks to get someone to help me understand how they justified the price. After no returned calls, I escalated to the president. He was unapologetic and unable to justify the price, only saying that "it all averages out in the end." My only recourse was to inform him that I will be taking my business elsewhere. What a shame. Wished I had read Yelp reviews prior to committing to Williams.Thought that I was dealing with the "go-to" plumbing and heating company in the area. read more

I contacted Williams Plumbing 2/12/18, spoke was directed to Amy in the Service Department.. I explained that a friend had tried to fix it, replaced some parts, but it would shut off when it went below the temp setting. She said they had an opening between 8-10am for a service call on 2/14 and explained the $120/flat fee for 1hr that would also include the drive time for the technician. Jeff showed up at 8:30, went into the crawl space, was there for about 20min. came back up and said that I needed a part and went to go look in his truck. He then came back in and said he needed to leave and go to his shop to look for this mysterious part and On/Off switch. He came back about 9:15am and said he didn't have the part, because mine went vertical and others have an elbow shape. He said it would have to be overnighted from somewhere and Amy could order it in. I said ok. As he was walking out the door he said, the part is $3.50, I said $3 dollars and .50cents? (because I had just replaced the flame sensor, timer all from Ambient for about $15-$25.00) He then said, no $350 for the part and with the labor it would be about $750 total. He then said do you want me to order this? (Meanwhile it's supposed to be below 0 for the next week and I am a single woman) He also says, your friend jury rigged stuff and it was loose? So, I thought wow this is an expensive part and my friend messed up. He left after I said, ok. After a 1/2 hour of pondering this really expensive furnace fix, I contacted Amy at Williams as she is in the service dept. and was supposed to be ordering the part. I told her Jeff had just been here and had said he was ordering that $350 part. Could she tell me what the part is? She said, Oh, our technicians order their own parts, we don't do that. I said well, he said you were ordering it and wouldn't you know what transpired during his service call and the part he ordered. She said no, you would have to call him. I called Jeff, left a vm to ask him about the part. I called her 3 times for information on the part and service and she had not info. Jeff never called me back. After thinking about this whole interaction and the lack of transparency, I contacted the MSU Weatherization Center and asked is there really an on/off switch for a York furnace that would cost $350? And then tack on another $400 to install it? They said that was out of line and to contact Ambient and Campbell. I contacted Williams and said, you people are unethical and trying to rip me off and I am reporting you and will not be using your services. She just said Ok, I have not heard a peep from either of them. Ambient was able to come by the next day, Thurs. 2/15/18, Jimmy met me and went down in the crawl space, noted that Jeff left it a mess, door off stuff all over. He went through blower tests said valves were all fine, switches were fine and spent about an hour testing all connections which he said were good and nothing was loose. He then noticed the wires were crossed for some reason and fixed that and then it worked, took about an hour. I didn't need any new parts and he was appalled at how Williams was trying to take advantage of me. I paid him $120 for his professional service and I will be contacting Williams to complain about the gouging they attempted on me. It's unfortunate that some companies make this world a bad place. They owe me $750, for my waste of time, work and the anxiety of thinking I had to spend that much $. Other people don't have the time or knowledge to research and I'm sure have been gouged by this business. They suck! read more

Williams Plumbing had installed our heating and plumbing when we built our home. I called them out for yearly maintenance on our geothermal/heating system. We knew the geo was not working properly based propane consumption and heat pump values. Tech, Doug, did maintenance service and indicated that we replace flame sensor, igniter and clean heat exchange in the spring. We did not want to wait since it is winter and we wanted geo system working. While scheduling this service, we signed up for their yearly service contract because it would give us a discount on services plus other extras for $533. The first appt to replace the parts was a no show. The 2nd appt, the tech, Noah, arrives but is unprepared for the work and leaves. I am not a full time resident and pay someone to meet the service contractors. So I paid for 2 visits and still had no work done by Williams. I left multiple messages (for the service manager, Fred and he never called back. It became clear to me that Williams wasn't interested in our business. I called another company, the guy came out and fixed our geo. Their diagnosis was the heat pumps had bad capacitors and replaced them. Our system is running perfectly now. So in addition to no shows, unprepared service calls, Williams had misdiagnosed the problem! I then asked for a refund on the service contract. I was told "yes' and that Melissa would process the credit. No credit was issued by Williams so I tried to contact Melissa. Again, no returned calls. I have not gone to my credit card company to contest the charge for $533 and would never use or recommend Williams Plumbing and Heating. read more

I bought a house in Sept of 2016. During the inspection, water was noted on the crawl space floor from a bad condensate pump and there was rust and water in the furnace door. A condition of purchasing the home was to have the condensate pump repaired or replaced and the furnace checked to ensure that it was operating correctly. I was given an invoice dated 8/15/16 as proof. Got all moved in and as it was a warm fall, did not need the furnace until the end of November. Turn it on and it's very noisy but this is my first time in a ranch house so maybe it's the proximity to the furnace? Go down for the Christmas decorations early December and there's water on the floor again! I called WIlliams as the condensate pump was supposed to have been fixed. They can't fit me in until 12/20/16. In the 10 day or so wait - the furnace starts acting odd so we go back into the crawl space - even more water!! Pull the cover and there's a light flashing a code so we have to keep resetting the switch. When the guy arrives, he says there's no record of any repair at this address. I showed him a copy of the invoice I'd been given. He goes into the crawl space and checks the condensate pump and says that the hoses are too long and are causing the float not to kick the pump on - hence the now 4 gallons of water on the floor. HOW COULD THE HOSES BE LEFT TOO LONG WHEN THE INVOICE SAYS THAT THEY VERIFIED PROPER OPERATION OF THE NEW CONDENSATE PUMP??!! Showed him the flashing code and he says "Sounds like a dirty filter". After a bit of searching, finds the filter and sure enough - it's so thickly coated with dust it's tripping the system. Removed the filter until I could get new ones and furnace didn't trip anymore. HOW COULD THEY HAVE PULLED THE FURNACE APART AND VERIFIED IT WAS IN GOOD WORKING ORDER WHEN THE FILTER WAS SO DIRTY IT WAS TRIPPING THE SYSTEM???? Last, asked the guy why the furnace is so noisy - he says it sounds like the blower wheel. He and my fiance pull the cover off and he says he thinks there are weights missing from the blower wheel causing it to be out of balance but can't find the weights. HOW COULD THERE BE WEIGHTS MISSING OR A BLOWER WHEEL OUT OF BALANCE WHEN THE FURNACE WAS "PULLED APART AND VERIFIED IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION"??? The holidays were on us, my realtor was out of town and so was unable to get some answers until after the first of the year. Called Williams back and get automatically connected and explain the issue. The lady tells me there's no record of any work prior to 12/20/16. I told her I had an invoice in my hand and how could a company the size of Williams not have record? She tells me to hold on and a couple minutes later comes back and says that's the residential department and their records are not the same as hers and transfers me. UH - DID THEY NOT KNOW WHEN I CALLED THE FIRST TIME THAT MY HOUSE WAS RESIDENTIAL???? So I get a guy who I tell the issue to and - miracle of miracles - he says he was personally at the house when the work was done in August. I tell him that's pretty bad that during a pull the furnace apart and verify good working condition something as important as a filter was missed. He said it was a couple of him guys and he came by later to check on it and it was fine then and that I was probably running the fan on the furnace and that's how the filter got so dirty. First of all - I WAS NOT RUNNING THE FAN - I know this for a fact and I just changed the filter I put in on 12/22/16 and it was barely dirty. Second of all - WHY DOES IT TAKE A COUPLE OF GUYS TO REPLACE A PUMP THE SIZE OF A LOAF OF BREAD AND DO A MAINTENANCE ON A FURNACE AND WHY DOES A THIRD GUY NEED TO COME CHECK ON THEIR WORK? FURTHERMORE - THEY DID NOT CORRECT THE CONDENSATE PUMP PROBLEM BECAUSE THE OTHER GUY HAD TO CUT THE HOSES TO STOP IT FROM LEAKING ON THE FLOOR. Only 1 guy came when I called about the water on the floor again and not only did he fix that within 10 minutes, he also diagnosed the tripping the system. No one came to check on his work. As for the blower fan out of balance, he said that it was operating just fine when they checked the furnace. THAT FURNACE WAS NOT PULLED APART AND VERIFIED TO BE IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION OR THE DIRTY FILTER WOULD HAVE BEEN FOUND AT THE TIME. FURTHERMORE, THEY DID NOT VERIFY THE CONDENSATE PUMP WAS WORKING CORRECTLY BECAUSE IT WASN'T AND I HAD TO SHOP VAC 4 GALLONS OF WATER OUT OF THE CRAWL SPACE. The whole thing - from the no record of repair work to there's a different department for residential to after all that the guy who was actually here - but only to check on the other guys - answers the phone, to I'd been running the fan causing a dirty filter prior to turning on the heat - is dropping the ball, being unwilling to step up and take responsibility and is shoddy business. I've used them twice and both times I've felt ripped off. First time had them replace a couple of pieces of pipe for a home sale. The rep spent most of the time talking and wasn't there for 45 minutes. Charged me for 2 hours and said their trip there and back counted. There office is less than 15 minutes from my home. Next time new house. My radiant heat system not working properly. Rep said that it was a faulty valve. Replaced it and charged me $700 to replace it. I could have bought the valve for under $50 at the local plumbing supply house. He wasn't here even 2 hours. The part failed next day. Same guy came back and said must not have been that valve. Replaced another valve and charged me more than $300. 3 days later, my mechanical room was flooding. Same rep came out and said my boiler was shot. The valves weren't the problem after all. To his credit, he did help clean up some of the water. Left with boiler in pieces and charged about $400 for his time. Almost $1400 for them to tell me my boiler was shot. They spend a lot of money advertising and pay for it by robbing the customers. Steer a wide path around them. read more
