River Course at Kingsmill…read more On a gorgeous autumn day, we enjoyed a round of golf at the course. Upon arrival, the bag drop area was available to leave our bags. The staff members helped us get our bags secured onto the golf carts. There is a small cooler on the golf cart. After checking in at the pro shop, we found the scorecards by the door. The pro shop had a great selection of golf goodies and I was eager to purchase some items with the Kingsmill logo. We had a wonderful time playing golf at the club during our recent visit. We played the River Course, which is known to host some of the most prestigious PGA and LPGA tournaments. The course is in excellent shape, with beautifully maintained greens and various obstacles that made our game more fun and challenging. Although the James River views are not visible until the last three holes, it was still an excellent way to wrap up our 18-hole round. Two restrooms are located along the course, and the access code is provided at the first hole. Don't forget to jot it down on your scorecard or take a quick snap in case the doors are locked. A beverage cart drove through a couple times to serve refreshing drinks throughout the course to keep us hydrated. A tip: for the par 3's, go left! The staff at the club was exceptionally friendly and supportive, making our experience even more enjoyable. We're already looking forward to our next visit to the town and playing golf at the club again.

We sat at a table in their bar section, which had sound paneling, which we learned was installed to help with the music and talking sometimes getting a bit loud. While we were there though, it did not get too loud for us. Our server was very nice and knew the Colonial Hertiage residents we were dining with well enough that he knew their drink order without asking. I went with the Summer Smash, which needed to be mixed a little with the straw because on first sip, it was all lemon, but when mixed, it was a well-balanced drink. For our appetizer, we picked the fried oysters on a bed of lettuce with a remoulade. The oysters and remoulade were great, but the lettuce was a bit wilted (probably from the heat of the oysters). For dinner, we got the shrimp po boy with coleslaw and the hand-battered fish and chips. Everything tasted amazing. The fish and chips were so crispy and hot. The coleslaw was made with a balanced mix of mustard-mayo-vinegar. Highly recommend everything we had!

He said it should only take 15 minutes per hole and I said yeah if you didn't have 300 golfers out on the front nine so that was a very expensive lesson and I wish I had the hour and a half back out of my life, please take heed don't waste your money and time they've been doing this forever and haven't learned their lesson.

My only complaint for a wedding is that while waiting for the ceremony and immediately after the ceremony, we were not able to use the bathroom. There is only one and the bridal party was using it. Totally understand why we couldn't use it, but wish there was more than one!
