Simply disgusting, I wanted to like it but nothing I tried was for me. I like authentic Texas style bbq, this wasn't it or close to it.

This particular location of the local "chain" is located off of Marietta Parkway in Canton, or off of exit 18 on 575 which is the way I traveled to get here! While Williamson's doesn't have the best BBQ I have ever had, it does have some really good, quality BBQ! To start, you know you are a good country, down-home bbq joint when you pull into the parking lot. You are greeted with the smell of wood and meat in the air, a smoker and piles of wood in the parking lot and big wooden building that screams "bbq"! Then, you walk in...and you get the faint sound of the Beverly Hillbillies theme song playing in your head. This place is authentic from parking lot to back door! The hostess stand sits near the pastry shelves, so you can see what all sweet southern desserts you can end your meal with. Just like the outside, the inside is all wood with big chandeliers and gaudy southern art throughout. All in all, it is exactly what you expect and desire out of a down home, southern bbq joint in Canton, Ga! Now, enough about how the place looks...let's get to the food! I have sampled a few things here from the pulled pork sandwich to the polish sausage, along with a few sides. While I enjoyed the sausage, it seemed less southern bbq and more "any casual southern restaurant-ish". I don't mean it wasn't good, I just mean it was underwhelming. The pulled pork sandwich was hefty in size, moist and tasty overall. I, of course, lathered it in their house made sauce which made it even better! For both items, I went platter...this is easily your best bet and best price as you get the meat(s) of your choice along with two sides and bread. As one knows, the sides is what ultimately makes a restaurant and Williamson Bros has no shortage of sides! My absolute must have every visit is the fried okra. It is crisp, well salted and perfectly fried...every single time. In my few visits I have had the mac and cheese, brunswick stew and onion rings. All of which were tasty! Service has always been spot on here! All the servers live the southern lifestyle when it comes to service. You are greeted with a smile, sat with a smile, delivered food with a smile, provided a check with a smile and thanked for coming with a smile and a "come back ya hear". In addition to the attitude, the service has always been on time and efficient during each visit! Overall, Williamson's is more than just a BBQ joint - it's an experience. Got chopped steak to go for my brother who is stuck home. It was just delicious, even after 15 minutes in styrofoam -- sautéed onions were laid on thick, sweet and tender. Have eaten in the restaurant a dozen times since Covid. Always great service, prompt, with great iced tea. A former Memphis boy is rarely satisfied with pork barbecue, but their open pit work is excellent. Highly recommended. Great for a wheel chair. Nice large clean restrooms. This place is a staple in Canton but I really can't figure out why. I think it's because it's relatively cheap. In the 1970s it was probably amazing but in 2023 it's average in every way. Ironically the best things on their menu are non-bbq related. Grill cheese, cheesesteak and burgers are all pretty good. I realize take out is difficult to maintain the quality of the food. Well, I'm amazed at how delicious their ribs were. Last time I had their ribs was in Marietta. That's going to change, as I guess I'll rotate between their catfish & bbq ribs from now on. One can't go by without smelling the amazing scent of bbq. It's mesmerizing. This was only my second visit and let me tell you how was completely unimpressed. The waitress (Kenzie) was more interesting in chatting with the staff instead of the patrons. A food runner brought out our good. Kenzie came over late enough for all three of our food was cold. For 30 years we have purchased food from the East Cobb location with no issues. Our last two purchases came from Canton. Extremely dissatisfied. They included a huge piece of the outside skin. When I called to question this new practice I was told that you have to request "inside" meat from someone that was snippy at best with her answer. I have never done that before yet received edible meat. We picked up a pound of pork the other day, this time requesting inside meat and still received chunks of inedible meat.
