Quality work! Zipper repaired on a favorite pair of high end boots. Heel replacement on 4 pair of shoes, along with heavy duty sewing of buttons on a leather dress coat. Excellent service, done when promised, footwear good as new and the coat as well! He said he'd try to repair the boot zipper before replacing, which he was able to do. Explained what might prevent the fix, I left both boots in case he had to replace so they would match (replacing both). I visited for first time today (4/25/18) to have keys made & shoes shined/repaired. The customer service was professional/courteous. My keys were made;(tested them-work fine.) Shoes will be a separate review once repairs are completed. This shop is located in "Wildwood" Shopping Center. Literally behind the behind the shopping center. You will see a sign over the door "Willie's Shoe Repair." You will walk up some iron steps then enter building. Be careful walking in the door-Willie's is located down steep steps. (See photos). I've been coming to Willie for a while with all my shoe repairs. He does a fantastic job with replacing some warn out heels or missing soles. It's hard to find a little and looks like you're going downstairs to a dungeon but I do promise you it's worth it! I had my heel straps re-glued (~$20) and the edges of my vintage purse repainted (~$95). I didnt compare prices with other repair places (didnt have time) so I cannot tell you if the price was reasonable. The customer service was subpar. He told me to pick it up in a week, and even though my husband came by several days after the arranged pickup date, Willie needed another week to finish my purse. He never called to let me know there was a delay. So we wasted gas and time for nothing. Then, on the second pickup attempt, Willie forgot to include my purse strap. So I had to call and see if he still had my purse strap (Note: he doesnt answer phone calls often. After several attempts, I was able to reach him). Luckily he still had my purse strap, and I was able to pick it up. What should've been one pickup ended up being three pickups. If you are busy and strapped for time, dont go here. In the past, I would have given this business 5 stars. But recently, I had a terrible encounter with them. They made 7 keys for me for a house that is 6 hours away from Bethesda. When we arrived at our house, none of the keys worked.ok, not the worst scenario. We went to a local hardware store and had 7 new ones made, which worked. I went back to Willy's and explained what had happened, and brought the keys that were improperly made. The owner refused to take responsibility for the mistake. He told me I should have returned the keys when I discovered they didn't work and he would have fixed them. Yeah, drive 6 hours each way for that?? He opened the drawer and returned $21 to me. I thanked him and gave him two bags to repair. Amazing. Brought in a pair of leather boots whose heel had mysteriously shrunk over the summer (apparently humidity can cause this).
