It wasn't anything big, but he had just changed schools, and he wanted to play with us. The kid said no, and my friend got a little mad. Nothing big, but the librarian still stepped in to break it up, nothing much. Then we came up with a compromise. However, later on, the librarian decided that we had enough gaming, and kicked us out! We didn't even do anything. There wasn't even anyone waiting in line for the computer. This act even goes against the law. Then, she tried to blame us that we had created a hostile environment earlier in the day. They held us on a 30 min limit on the computers, even though everyone else was not held to the same standard. She also tried saying that the library was closing, even though it was still half an hour away from closing time.

I am so disappointed that a political agenda is pushed top to bottom at the library. For instance, they recently held a specious "banned books" event where they ask people to take political action against SUPPOSEDLY banned books, which is a hoax. My kids are advanced readers and I can't let them explore freely in the library because there is so much inappropriate material for children, for example, "This Book is Gay" includes graphic material tutoring children on how to perform an*l s*x. It's in the teen room for ages 12-18--COMPLETELY inappropriate. There are also the usual divisive identity/sexuality-focused events for kids like 'draw a coat of arms for LGBTQ+ and allies.' It would be nice if the library focused on the huge literacy problem in this country instead of pandering to identity politics. This library is definitely not a safe space for kids--watch them closely and/or order books for pick-up. So sad. I also want to understand why the city pays the salary of a DEI apparatchik at this library. I do not believe city money should be spent on this nonsense. Libraries could have stepped up and stayed open to serve the whole population during the covid restrictions, yet they stayed closed for years, which no doubt contributed to the huge decline in academic scores and literacy we see in children. I hope this library can be renewed to be about more than virtue signaling and posturing. Communities benefit from excellence in libraries.

I noted that a previous person referred to Tewksbury as a Blue Collar town. I am puzzled how a town with homes selling for One Million Plus Dollars can be called Blue Collar?? The building where our library is housed is grand and beautiful, and with the children's section on…read morethe very top floor, my kids get the best seat in the library. The layout is a bit disjointed as another reviewer mentioned, but the fourth floor is typically where our family spends the most of its time, so not too much of an issue for us. I have also worked remotely in the library on days when my offices were closed and it was a nice quiet place to get my work done -- that is, up until around 3 p.m. or so when teenagers pop in and are a bit louder. Another really great thing to know about our library is that they house a "library of things" where you can check out random things like a metal detectors, bolt charger, karaoke machine, label maker, telescope, binoculars, and much more.

They have a wonderful selection of books for all ages, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn they also lend out audiobooks and video games. My 4-year-old daughter loved borrowing the Bluey game for our Switch--it was a great way for her to try it without us having to buy it. The staff is very friendly, especially in the children's area. They're polite, engaging, and always helpful. One unique feature is the sarcophagus with "Mr. Bones," the friendly neighborhood skeleton--my son's absolute favorite part of the library. He also enjoys the play area, which has a train table and puzzles. There are computers available for kids to play games or do homework, and plenty of comfortable reading spaces for everyone. If I had one wish, it would be for more kids' activities like story times or reading groups on Saturdays, since I work during the week. Still, I know this is not uncommon these days. Overall, this library is a wonderful place to spark a love of reading and play for kids, or to enjoy as an adult if you're looking for a comfortable, quiet space.

The enrollment process for a library card is very quick and easy. It is three stories with lots of books, movies, tables/chairs, computers, etc. I primarily get ebooks through Libby on my Kindle, which has been an awesome resource; occasionally I will go in and get a hard-copy though and they have a lot to offer. They are very generous with the rental time and renewals and communicate effectively. I really enjoy that they have both the noble and libby app too - this makes things really easy. Highly recommend!

I visited the Putnam House and surrounding properties last summer when visiting from California. I…read morebrought my 11 year old nephew and 16 yr old son. The House itself is amazing with detailed set ups of life at that time (1700's). Very authentic and we even has a lesson in the school house where we got to see what the classroom setting was like at that time. They have a farm museum that has many vehicles and tools with displays that tell you how everything was used. They have limited summer hours so call in advance. Very much worth the trip. My kids loved it. (They can now imagine life without cell phones).

There are lots of very informative reviews here! I wanted to add that those reviews are still…read moreaccurate in 2025, and definitely helped me out as a first-time juror. Just a few notes: 1. There is Wi-Fi. Strong signal, fast connection. The reminder email warns that "most courts do not have wifi," but this one does. Phone signal was fine, too. 2. If you fill out the online Confidential Juror Questionnaire, don't forget to sign it after printing it out. They also have paper copies at the courthouse, but you may lose your place in line while you're filling it out. 3. The "jury pool" is a big lecture-style conference room (i.e. rows of chairs). There are outlets along the right-hand wall, so arrive a bit early if you want one of those. The chairs seemed pretty new and were reasonably comfortable, but next time I'll probably bring one of those $15 portable cushions. 4. Echoing the other reviewers, everyone really was exceptionally pleasant! They genuinely make you feel that you're performing an honorable service that's deserving of respect, whether you're eventually chosen or not.
