THIS IS NOT A SPECIAL NEEDS SCHOOL! The curriculum is adjusted for each student, HOWEVER, don't…read moreexpect any specific accommodations for a child with special needs or for an IEP to be followed! At the beginning of this school year we had less issues, but after Mr. Nick passed away things have rapidly gone downhill. There needs to be another teacher there, or at least office staff. The kids are answering the phone, the door, even instructed to govern each other- it's a NIGHTMARE. Changes are needed desperately, but it's been made clear that that will not happen. We will NOT be coming back next year. I would homeschool my child before sending them back here!

In the past 37 years we have helped hundreds of children find a passion for knowledge and build the necessary skills to go to college and lead meaningful lives. Helping children develop a joy for learning is the reason we started Amy Bradley in 1976. Our school believes that lectures, homework, and busy-work detract from learning and don't help students retain the knowledge and skills needed in todays workplace. We have blended elements of homeschooling, private-tutoring, and leading research from experts around the world to develop a truly unique learning experience for our students.

This school does not reflect the values it claims to uphold. Instead of fostering a nurturing and…read morecompassionate environment, students are often dismissed, disciplined unfairly, or treated with little respect. Concerns about mistreatment are ignored, and there is little accountability from the administration. Education should be about more than just academics; it should be about respect, integrity, and care for students' well-being. Unfortunately, this school falls short in those areas. If you are looking for a truly supportive and faith-driven environment, I would advise looking elsewhere. (Preferably two 7th grade teachers who gossip and mock students). Sending your child to SMCS is probably one of the worst decisions you can make as a parent. My…read moredaughter was there for 7 years. She not only received a disappointing education but was tormented by both teachers and fellow students. The principle targets certain children who seemingly have done nothing wrong. My daughter was suspended from the school for no apparent reason, and when I spoke to the principle about it, he could not give me a clear answer as to why she was getting disciplined. We had a serious run in with bullying at St. Marks but since the girl bullying my daughter had parents that donated money, the school refused to intervene. They care more about money than the mental safety of their students. I absolutely do not recommend this school

Friday I got a message from Kendra saying I owed them $100 due by the end of the day or they would not let my child return. I was upset and went in person(on that Friday) to make sure it didn't happen again. I can't afford that. I sat in the office where Kendra told me my card would be charged on Tuesday for a certain. Again next week they got me with a bunch of late charges or almost $100 again. They raised the rate between Friday and that Tuesday and didn't notice me. Eventho I was just assured on Friday what my payment would be. I was again charged bank fees and late fees. The very last week we were in summer camp I was charged an extra $15. No one knows why and could not answer why. I've called so many times, instead of talking to the directors I've reaching out to Jasmine and Summer both of which I never heard back from. I called jasmine numerous times. Super disappointing because the staff was great. Im a single mom and to be changed all this addiontal money was wrong. I also put $100 non refundable deposit just to hold me daughters spot. I believe I was charged over $200 in fees. With my vouchers it should have cost about $250 or less for her entire summer camp. I am a very broke single parent and they have no idea how much that hurt me. I know $200 isn't a lot but it was for me.

My kid is repeating stuff at CFA in the 6th grade that he did in 5th at Porters Neck Elementary. When my kid was at another private school, he was academically, a year ahead of the public school. My kid is not challenged at CFA. I feel he is falling behind academically. There is some bullying going on and there are some disruptive students present which distracts from the other kid's learning opportunities as well. For example, a teacher's kid who is a student there had a tantrum and broke five cell phones belonging to other students. Another kid was punched in the face twice. My kid mentioned they have seven 3D / media printers but only one works. Obviously I am putting him in a different school next year. Although the teachers and staff are friendly, overall I am disappointed. For me personally I see no benefit to sending my kid here except it may be somewhat safer than public schools. While safety is always number one, school is for learning. Nothing personal, just my pragmatic opinion which I hope will be helpful / appreciated. Another consideration is that Wilmington has limited educational opportunities even if you can pay for them.
