The Wilmslow Artisian Market is a market in Wilmslow on the 3rd Saturday of every month, I called in today while in the area to take a look at what they had in stall for March 2016, normally I find markets rather dull, selling the same old rubbish, and a poor selection of gluten free and the lack of free samples, but today it was different, maybe because I was entering a town much posher than what I'm used to.
They were a lot of brands here who had some gluten free products and good knowledge of gluten free, and even had seperate forks so I could sample their products to be gluten free, Katie's Proper Pate was great, they had a great selection of pate and it was actually really nice, good quality pate, albeit expensive at £4.95 it tasted great and fresh
They was also a company selling gluten free biscuits, Carlo's Biscuits also had some nice gluten free avaliable, they had a nice lemon biscuit, which were small and in a way looked like dog food, which was off-putting, and I found the chocolate one to be quite poor, and just taste like a brownie in a star shaped small biscuit.
They were places selling ornaments and similar items, but as with the name it was mainly food, it was large with 2 rows, spanning past Pizza Express, starting close to Costa Coffee.
The Foodamentalists were great, they were completley gluten free, albeit they didn't have any samples they had some great products with gluten free stuffing mixes / cake mixes etc, as well as bread and pies. I found these to taste quite nice, and be well-priced, especially with the free loaf of bread the man gave me.
Hemingways had some nice pesto avaliable which tasted good quality, it was reasonable pricing at £2.50, but I found it too garlicky to put on anything and it was mainly the filling, and not the more of a sauce type pesto you get from a supermarket, which meant it actually ruined my meal in the way, but on its own it was okay, albeit a little pricey for such a small portion.
Overall, this is a great market with some great stalls, and some great people on those stalls and a great selection of gluten free. I was even surprised to have such a good experience, visiting fairly close to 4pm when they would close, If you can get down to WIlmslow between 10 and 4 on the 3rd Saturday of the month, It's well worth a look as this isn't your typical market! read more
