As requested by Yelp, I'm being lenient "if things didn't go as planned" as a result of COVID-19. First, let me begin by saying: THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FOR SHOPPING OR VIEWING, despite what Yelp says. So... I rolled up, walked to the door, saw a sign (wishing I'd taken a picture to post now, just for clarification purposes) that essentially said "We are not allowing in-store viewing/shopping in our showroom. Go on our site. We are doing curbside pickup." Okay, that's kind of irritating that they haven't marked the hours "appointment only" or "by appointment" or something on Yelp, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered driving over, but okay, bad on me and perhaps I should've called ahead of time. I get back in the car, pull out, and call to request them to put something on Yelp so people *know* there isn't in-store shopping here; I assumed there would be since Nigel's, Naimie's, Frends, and every other small beauty supply with wigs in the area is open. I talked to a rather harried sounding woman very briefly on the phone. The best I could get was an exasperated, "I will pass this along to my manager" re: changing the hours on Yelp. Based on her tone of voice, I'm guessing I wasn't the first person to make this suggestion to them. None of this, by the way, is why I'm giving it 3 stars. I'm giving it 3 stars because, even if it was open, this store would not have suited my needs and I'll tell you why: VIRTUALLY NO SYNTHETIC LACE FRONT WIGS FOR WOMEN. If you're looking for HIGH END, expensive as FUCK human hair wigs--either because you're dealing with actors/actresses or it's a personal thing and you're rolling in coin--then this is the place for you. I got home, went on their site (as suggested by the customer service representative and the sign) only to discover they had literally *NO SYNTHETIC WIGS* for under $55; that's the lowest price point. Ummm, okay. Wow. When I did a search for synthetic, lace front wigs between $55-$101... I got exactly 6 styles. Uhhhh, okay. That's really not much. That, of course, is when I realized that they clearly cater to a clientele that is not me: not queer people; not drag queens; not the working class, average, every day humans. In summation: if you're looking for some cheap(er) synthetic wigs to stack for a drag style or a giant wig, or you're just an average person looking for a fun synthetic wig in the $30-$65 range, mama, you ain't gonna find it here. If you're wealthy as fuck or shopping for someone who is, and who wants the best of the best human hair wigs, this place is probably the ticket. This store is not open for business even though it has hours posted in Yelp and Google maps. It is closed to the public. I had called the day before to make an appointment for a wig fitting. No one returned my call and since they had hours posted that they were open, I drove 45 min to get to the store. It was locked up. An employ saw us and did not respond to us, she just looked at us and kept talking on the phone. This business had poor customer service before COVID, and post-COVID is 500 times worse. The performance of the website is terrible. They issue only one email when you place an order online, no email when items is shipped, and no email when item is returned. Good luck to get a hold of anyone. They called me after leaving 10 voice messages, they only left a VM to call them back. This frustrating, nobody ever picks up the phone and they ask me to call them bak without providing status update. This is taking advantage of customer only to make money. Staff up, and train people. Horrible experience! I ordered an expensive wig and in arrived with a foul odor. I had planned to just keep it and wash it, until the products I ordered arrived in a separate shipment that was shocking! The styrofoam wig head was broken at the neck (spooky) and stuffed into a box into which it didn't fit whole. They failed to send the wig pins and JR wig comb in the shipment. I ordered full size wig care products and they sent a tiny travel size kit instead. They also sent what appears to be a used and horribly stinky wig wand. I bought my first hairpiece from here in 1995. It was great back then. I don't live in LA anymore, but I made an appt as I flew there on an Biz trip. Things went well for the measurement. The problem came when I flew back for the cut in. The pc was there but the appt made for the cut in wasn't. They had to bring in someone else last min. It turned out ok, the pc is fine. The problem I have is their customer service. You can't seem to ever get anyone to answer the phone or return a call or an email. I agree with Tammy M, the customer service was not great but Post Covid it is horrible. I know a new owner took over some time back. I don't think it is his fault, in fact the place on Van Nuys is nicer than the Craner location, but not as nice as the Craner location from 1995. The fault lies in the staff. read more

I would give this zero stars, if I could. This company should not be in business. Zero customer service, if you need to return. They will not answer the phone, return calls, reply to emails and even my mailed letter was returned! They will happily sell you a wig. If you need to return, they'll send you the label (charging $10 to return). Be sure to make copies of your return label, tracking, as well as the receipt. Return the wig within 10 days of receiving the wig! Don't style or brush it. All details need to be documented. After months of waiting for my refund, I finally contacted my bank and reported them. First of all , they never answer the calls, always goes to Voicemail making you think they are closed because I left so many messages and did not get a call back but I had to buy from them because the hair that my friend wanted was on their website . So I finally talked to a girl and over the phone I asked 10 times if we will have it in a week and she promised that we will . I went there , paid for the entire amount and ordered the hair, made sure by the girl that I would get it in 3-4 days . Terrible customer service, I will never ever order from them again. I did a mail in order. I wanted a good match for my hair color, so I ordered two color rings, which I had to carefully get back within 30 days (and get credit only). I ordered, with my "perfect colors," chosen from the color ring. Also, I had to call the company after four weeks, when I hadn't heard got my order. They said "one item was no longer in stock. " I would of liked to have heard that sooner! Well, when my order finally came, my most expensive piece was much lighter than I expected. Ironically, I had TWO products, same company, same "color" name but two completely different colors. huge color difference. I called and finally got someone on the phone who told me that colors vary, even with color swatches. He said send it back, in original pkg, and write on the receipt the product name/shade that did match. Well, silly me, I didn't know that the policy is they want it back within a measly 10 DAYS! They sent it right back, said they couldn't even exchange it, because it was past 10 days. Now I'm stuck with an expensive piece that doesn't match my hair, minus paying for postage, and a cheaper crappy piece that does match. They should of been the same shade, since THEY ARE THE SAME COMPANY AND COLOR NAME! I would NOT recommend ordering from them. even if you go thru the whole process of the color ring and getting a credit and ordering again, the colors won't match. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS BUSINESS ONLINE! Their return policy is a joke!! On 5/23/18 I placed an online order (#103064394) for 2 wigs totaling over $300. One item (Classic Cut by Raquel Welch @ $169.15) was shipped on 5/25/18. The second item (Holly by Henry Margu @ $175) has never been received. In mid-June I returned Classic Cut for an exchange, but it was sent back to me explaining that I had exceeded the 14 day return period. At that time, I was not aware of the 14 day restriction and was working under the assumption that I had 30 days to return, as most other wig companies allow. I was angry and unhappy at having to keep the wig. On 8/3/18 I (stupidly) placed another order (#103068172) for two wigs totaling $131.88. The wigs were shipped on 8/15/18 and received at my post office on 8/17/18. The post office held the shipment as the box was too big for my mailbox. Unfortunately, I was traveling at that time as was not able to pick up the box until 8/29/18 (the 14th day after shipment. I tried the wigs that day and determined that I wanted to exchange one (Sadie by TressAllure @ $87.25) for a different color and return the other (Layered Bob by Hairdo @ $101.15). Knowing that I was at the 14th day, I called the customer service line and was told there was nothing they could do. I had to keep the wigs. I called again yesterday, after checking the return times at other wig companies (Paula Young, The Wig Company, Wigs.com), which were all for 30 days. I had to leave a message and received a callback from Ruth, who informed me that there was nothing to be done, even for a color exchange. I asked to speak to a supervisor who told me the same thing. She at least accepted a cancellation order for the wig I ordered in May and never received. Rest assured that I will never deal with this company again. The return policy is so restrictive as to be a scam and customer service is useless. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau and the PA Attorney General's office of Consumer Complaints. read more

She is approximately the 5th customer service person I have talked to about my order. One wig was cancelled and I was told by 4 other customer service reps that the refund had been processed. My other order, I was told had been shipped, but I have no record of it being shipped. This particular customer service rep went THE EXTRA MILE and walked over to her supervisor to the the refund processed(it had not been processed at all) and then went to shipping to get the status of my order. The women working treated us like an inconvenience. They presented me one option, which was two long and curly for what I needed, but then didn't bother with any further follow through. I went into this store as a trepedacious patron. I am going through chemotherapy and dealing sudden hair loss. I didn't know if I wanted a wig or not because I've gotten used to the hair caps over the past week. Shelly made me feel right at home, she viewed what my hair was like before, which is a natural red, and hard to match. I left with two wigs and everything I needed to get me through chemo and until my hair starts to grow back. I may just have to come back for another one during this process!
