The Regatta (posted) by Don Groninger In morning sun and scent of dew I heard some loud, auspicious cheers, In cloudless sky of azure blue The jubile sound played in my ears. At once, excitement filled the air As people scurried all apace Searching for an ideal spot where They would relax and watch the race. The hydraplanes were works of art, Team colors did the drivers wear. They were preparing for the start With engines in their best repair. An ambulance was standing by With paramedics on the scene, In hopes that naught would awry Nor accidents to supervene. The Coast Guard cutter would arrive And then the race would soon begin. The atmosphere was so alive With the flow of adrenaline. The year is nineteen-fifty-one, The place is Stansbury Beach Club. The boats await the starting gun To mark this east-coast racing hub. The main event is inboard boats, As Guy Lombardo leads the way, They speed in laps 'round marker floats That stretch far out into the bay. About this time, once every year, This Wilson Point Men's Club event Holds regattas (when the weather's clear), With cash and trophies to present. People attend from far and wide As their heroes thrash the river, Regardless of the current's tide, A victory to deliver. read more

Great place to visit and very family oriented! I recommend this place to everyone . The food is great and the beer is cheap!

The beach club is an absolutely great place to spend a day with the family in the summertime. Plenty of room to find a picnic table overlooking the water without tripping over other people, the snack shack has plenty of food to choose from, really good fries, and cheap beer. The pools are big and clean, and there are ping pong tables and a volleyball net, and I think you can even borrow board games at the gatehouse. The beach club is a nice outdoor destination for hot days.The breeze coming off the water is always pleasant. The only downside (which is only a downside if you're not comfortable with the working class and our ways, lol) is that the ambiance is strictly redneck country club. If you have anything against fried foods and/or moms yelling at their kids and/or drunk, middle aged men cursing into their cell phones with absolutely no regard for women and/or children, this may not be the place for you. But if you and your family are into this scene, come down and have a swim in the giant cement pond!! read more
