Absolutely amazing place to stay. This is the only place i have ever gone out of my to intentionally return to year after year. We have been coming here for over 10+ years. Kara is a phenomenal host and makes you (and every other guest) feel like family. She is thoughtful and very intentional about making sure you throughly enjoy your time while being there. She has many well thought out and planned ideas for day trip excursions and even great suggestions for excursions on your way to the next destination. Life slows down so much when you're at the ranch, and it's a perfect reset just being there. The breakfast is always wonderful, and fun having conversations with other travelers. The rooms are secluded and give you plenty of privacy when needed, or you can cozy up on the living room couch and share conversations with others. read more

We stayed here for 2 nights last week and had great hospitality from Kara and Brian. We also met wonderful Emily and Kara's son (I forgot his name). They were so very friendly and sincerely wanted to make our stay comfortable. The horse back riding was epic! It was a ride in leisure pace. We get to enjoy the open space, saw their cattle and crossed a small stream. We were so impressed we booked another one towards the end of our stay. Both were equally enjoyable! What a great place. A redone home originally ordered from Sears and Roebuck. On a real ranch We started coming during the bluegrass festival. And car show. Later we rented the whole place for a stop for our vintage travel trailer caravan. The ranch bbq included the biggest and freshest steaks you will ever eat. We loved this place! My husband and I stayed here a few nights while we finished up work in Fossil. The owners are amazing people. They make you feel welcomed and comfortable. We looked forward to breakfast every morning. The food was great and Nancy always had an interesting story to tell. Every member of their staff was passionate about what they do. Carmine and Karen (housekeeper) made sure everything was clean and tidy. Highly recommend going horseback riding. It was amazing! It was my first time pushing cattle and we enjoyed every moment of it. By the end of our stay we felt as if we had known them forever. We will be back! read more

Kara and Brian were wonderful! We have stayed 5 times now and each stay is better than the last! We have celebrated my daughter's birthday here 5 times starting at age 5 and she just turned 17! We always feel like family from the moment we enter the bunkhouse! Breakfast is yummy and full of stories and laughter. Our riding adventures have taken us to many parts of the ranch and each view even more scenic than the last! Outstanding place to stay, to ride horses, and to have our meals. It's quaint but just loaded with so much charm. The staff was super at finding hikes and bike routes. We had a ball on the horse back ride. And the breakfast was super. They were also really great about thinking through the COVID issues. Well worth it. First of all, you must know how great the hosts of this place are! They are hilarious, and just good people. They are that kind of small-town goodness that is missing in most of our lives. This place is great! While we only had a chance to stay here for one night, it was very enjoyable. Their breakfast is not to be missed! And the stories and conversations are even better. This place is a wonderful place to bring family - especially kids who are interested in cowboys, horses and all around the wonders of the Fossils area. Excellent hosts - Kara found a local swimming pool for the kids to enjoy some time in the water. I wanted to plan a last minute weekend escape and stumbled across this hidden gem near Fossil. I have nothing bad to say about this place. I wish I would have had a few more nights! Some highlights: -Full ranch breakfast at the table with Phil and Nancy. Delicious home-cooked food, unlimited coffee and tea, ranch stories and good conversation with guests and owners. -Comfortable Beds! -Effie'ss Kitchen & BBQs made it SO easy for us to BBQ up dinner out back and enjoy the ranch scenery. My boyfriend and I enjoyed making dinner and drinking a few beers on the deck as the sun went down, The guest kitchen has everything you could need to prep a great family picnic or dinner so you don't have to drive into town (stove, oven, microwave, fridge, utensils, sink, plates etc) -KARA! Was so knowledgeable about the surrounding area. She had wonderful recommendations for us for our Sunday adventure. She provided restaurant ideas, hidden fishing spots along the way and the quickest way for us to get home. She texted me on the day of our arrival and when we were running behind schedule due to an unforeseen medical issue, she helped us reschedule our rides. -Horseback riding. The horses were well-trained and we had such a beautiful trail ride. -WIFI -Clean facilities and bathrobes! Thanks Wilson family. We will be back! read more

My husband and I spent a weekend at Wilson Ranches Retreat a few years ago. The b&b was rustic and fun, but the we treasured, and remember, the most, was the warm hospitality of our hosts. Breakfast at the long table - which Phil cooked up after "pulling a calf" - was sprinkled with lively conversation and wildly funny anecdotes. Unless you require four-star lodging, go to WWR. I just stayed overnight at this B&B with my nieces and nephew. It was a great experience. We went horseback riding guided by a really knowledgeable member of the ranch family. It was great. The horses were responsive and it did not feel like your usual trail ride. The B&B is only a few miles from the small town Fossil. In addition to some restaurants and other businesses, Fossil also has fossils that you can dig for and take home. The breakfast in the morning was big and friendly. I would recommend this business to anyone and am planing on going back next year. read more
