Wimpy & Dee's is a novelty diner that's main objective is to take you back to the 1950's; while feeding you of course. It's shiny on the outside and snazzy on the inside. Whether or not you care about accuracy, it is still a cool place to get some good food. They have a standard menu, but throw in some '50s tributes like the '50s Special: Eggs, potatoes, and a cheeseburger. Saw it, had to have it, glad I got it. And who needs buzzers to tell you when your wait time is over? Wimpy's does it different. Should you be forced to wait, you'll be assigned not a number, but a name. Your first? Your last? Heavens no. During your 5 minute wait you'll be made into a '50s icon. "Dennis can quit being a menace, his table is ready" "Babalu! It's time to eat Lucy" Excuse the pun, but it makes it worth the wait. From a diner standpoint, the prices are good, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere is like crazy; like wow and that's the word from the bird. So get with it Daddy-O! I prefer the fresh cut fries offered by the previous owners to the batter dipped fries which they now offer. I'm going to try it again today, getting a dinner. I'll let you know if the food has improved. read more

We had a negative experience here about a year ago and stayed away. Decided to give breakfast a try again and was pleasantly surprised. Had the regular egg, meat, potatoes and toast plate. It was terrific! They must have a new cook. Place was packed for a Saturday morning. Keep up the great work! read more

Great for breakfast! My friends come here to eat and chit chat. No one is pushy about us leaving. Servers are nice and the food is great!

If you are looking for good pancakes, you better look elsewhere. My daughter and I went here for breakfast and we really were not that impressed, but after all it is a typical diner. What disappointed me the most was the pancakes. It's not hard to make good pancakes. The rest of the breakfast was ok. I had the "Four on the floor" breakfast which had 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, hash browns, toast and a choice of meat. The service was ok. Well this is an update from 2 years ago it only got worse. The scrapple was hard dry and cold the hasbrown same burnt dry cold the eggs rubbery . The same waitress to busy talking to the everyday people and never came back to check on us . I will never go back !! read more

Great place for breakfast. The staff was very friendly and it was clear that their are many regulars. They are also very honest I originally ordered banana pancakes and the waitress informed me before making my order that their banana are still pretty green. this was our go to spot when in the area. Been here many times, enough that I got the newsletters and emails. after yesterday's visit I am done. went in at 7pm on fri night. wasn't busy, but wasn't dead in there. got seated right away. requested a highchair for my 21mnth old. was given one missing 1/2 the strap. had to go swap it out ourselves. looked over the menu. had enough time to decide what apps we were going to get. what kids meal my kid was getting since he was excited to be getting food. and what both adults were going to order. but thats as far as it went. no waitress ever acknowledged us even existing. no drink order, no hi, no nothing. we watched 2-3 other tables come in, be seated, place orders and receive their drinks before we took the hint and walked out. nothing said by anyone as we left. my child not understanding why we never got food. I gladly took my business elsewhere. it's sad how bad the service has gotten read more

Finding someplace to eat out on Sunday mornings for breakfast is very difficult in this area. The only diner open for miles is Wimpy and Dees, so we had little choice. But after today's experience I don't think we'll be back there either. While the diner was close to full we were seated immediately; so far, so good. It goes downhill from there... People seated after us were already receiving their drink orders and their food orders taken while we waited for our waitress to make initial contact with us. (Strike 1). Once our orders were taken we waited 25mins for the food to arrive. (Strike 2). After all that waiting our food was served cold... I guess our food sat out waiting for someone to notice. Points for having a veggie burger and a pretty large menu for what looks like a burger joint. Burgers are why we came and neither I (omnivore) nor my vegetarian husband were disappointed. Had chicken tenders, mash, and mac and cheese. was all ten dollars. was suppose to get a roll to but it was forgotten. I heard this place suppose to be good from many different people. The mash tasted like a bad box of instant and the chicken gravy left a horrible after taste in my mouth. Just like the chicken did was more crust than chicken. Was just a horrible experience didn't help with the waitress either too worried helping others and being forced other tables on her by the other waitress. other people in my party had burgers and seemed to like it for the most part but had their own issues. If you are in to diner food, this is a great stop. Jennifer was our waitress and understands "hungry" kids, making sure to get our orders in and brought out to avoid a meltdown. That is worth its weight in gold. The burgers were big and the wings are hot. The bacon cheese fries are heavenly and were fought over at our table. I took my young kids and smoking hot wife here for the first time after living 15 minutes away. I'm not a diner guy, but will try one once in awhile ... (Check out my review for the awful Happy Days in Thorndale, PA.... which is why I haven't been back to a diner for a couple years). Well, I'll be damned. We all enjoyed our meal looking for some comfort food on a weekend. I had a burger, it was a real patti, my wife enjoyed her turkey club, and my youngest daughter loved the macaroni and cheese. My son also ordered a burger and it was quite good. Fresh patti burgers. Had my reservations when I saw the variety they offered on the menu... Usually too many options means they can't get one thing right. But everything hit the spot when craving some guilty comfort food. Decor was what to expect from a diner, but it really was cleaner than most. I read someone on Yelp gave a bad review for patrons saying the pledge of allegiance during the morning. Though I didn't experience that, I would have had no problem removing my hat, giving thanks for our country. Great milkshakes... And about the span of a city block right down the scenic country byway towards the west on 322, there is an awesome little indoor farm market where they put yummy food samples out, and have a nice deck to eat a freshly home made ice cream cone. Excellent little strip for a surprise family night out if you visit both. But if you just are focused on just good diner food and don't go anywhere else... by all means, go to Wimpy and Dee's. Went there for the fun of a doo wop diner. -- Check out its history For those bothered by not getting good Lancaster county food...it is probably because you were in Chester County, not Lancaster County PA. I have lived in Lancaster county since the 80s...find a town not on a tourist map go find a diner it will be worth it. My husband and I have been her twice and he came here once with work. All three times the service has been awful! This last time was by far the worst. We waited 25 mins for a waitress to come get our drink order... the host came and took it. Then we waited another 10 mins to place our food order. It has taken 40 minutes for us to get our food. People who sat down after us are finishing their meals. I don't recommend coming here! We definitely will not be back. read more

I have been to Wimpy & Dee's on more than a few occasions and every single time that I have gone, my order has been messed up in some way. The quality of food is subpar and the staff are hit or miss. I've eaten at this location when I was still eating meat and after I became a vegetarian and never was impressed by any of the meat dishes, but was also disappointed that there are very few vegetarian options. The last time that I went (which will be my last time ever) my omelette was burnt and my father ordered cream chipped beef which was served to him in a mug... The only reason why I am awarding this establishment with two stars is because the decor is very lovely and is generally the most pleasant aspect of this diner. read more

This used to be our favorite place for burgers however it changed ownership and is completely different. The menu is similar but the food quality and ingredients are not. Say goodbye to a once hand patty burger, brioche roll and hand cut fries. If you prefer a frozen patty, McDonald's sesame roll and frozen fries this is now your place. If you're near here, be here! Quintessential 50's throwback diner, from the "guys" and "dolls" restroom signs to the black and white checked tile floor. The charm of this place is really in the decor, including photos from long-closed local drag racing strips, movie posters, and transistor radios. There's even a middle-aged couple who looks like they're a pair of teenagers who are on their first date here right now! As far as food goes, the menu is pretty standard, I ordered a simple eggs, hash browns and sausage dish. Pretty difficult to mess up, but also difficult to make terribly impressive. That said, everything was done well and the sausage isn't some woeful Jimmy Dean links you get at other places. Overall, I'd happily go back! read more

Stopped by here on the way back from a road trip. Since I'm a fan of Chili Dogs, I thought I'd try a couple. I wasn't impressed with the meal at all. First off, the "Chili" had beans. That's Chili for eating... not Chili for Hot Dogs. The fries were shoestring fries. (Sad) The good thing is that this place is a '50's style diner and they had doo-wop music playing and I enjoyed myself immensely. (Plus there were several pretty, young, & friendly waitresses. I figured it was worth a return trip because I may have just not ordered their specialty. My next visit was much better, although they weren't playing the oldies this time. I had the burger and although they cook it well done (maybe medium well) it was juicy and flavorful. I'm talking OMG good. I was pleasantly surprised. Had the sweet potato fries this time. I'm not sure why... I'm really not a fan of them. I guess I figured I'd try them because they had them to offer. In any case, they were pretty good. I totally enjoyed the visit this time, hence the rating which, if I were to have rated the first trip would have been probably a 2. I'm definitely going back, but next time I'll take my "old" car to match the surroundings and I'll have what they're probably known for.... the delicious burger. read more

My husband and I ate here for breakfast and did not enjoy the experience. None of the food tasted fresh. My favorite part of the meal was the store-bought raisin bread toast and the orange slices. Otherwise, my omelet was rubbery and bland. My husband ordered the corned beef hash which he says tasted as if it came out of a can from the 50's. The only part of his meal that he enjoyed was his toast and sausage links. The only thing that saved this rating from being a one star is that the waitress was super pleasant and prompt and the food came out quickly. The diner itself is also very cute, comfy, and clean. One more thing to add is that the wording on their website is misleading in regards to whether or not they serve lunch all day, which is typical of most diners. The website says "breakfast, lunch and dinner menus served daily." To me, this read that they serve all three menus all day but this was not the case, as we found out when we got there. The burgers were excellent . The only problem was it took 1/2 hour to get our order. Waitress came over after about 25 minutes and said your order is next. However three parties that came In after us all got their food in a reasonable time. I actually think she forget to put our order in she seemed a little befuddled. Service took a while to take our orders but once our orders were in, it did not take long for food to arrive. You could tell it just took a while because our waitress was so busy with several tables. I ordered a hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes in gravy. At first I thought, that's way too much gravy. And then I almost completely finished my plate. I was excited to try this place as I have friends who really love it, however I definitely wasn't impressed. The diner itself is cute. It's decorated nice, has a great diner type vibe which I love. The food took a while and was mediocre. My husband enjoyed his hot turkey sandwich but my burger was nothing special. It didn't come with a pickle like advertised and the chips were stale. Five Guys exceeds them for sure in the burger department. The worst part about the whole experience was the service. It was VERY clear that if you aren't a regular you'll basically be ignored. Our waitress paid great attention to the table next to us with drink refills, extra rolls and even extra gravy- meanwhile we sat with empty drinks for 10 minutes only to have her walk by repeatedly like we were invisible. We sat infront of the kitchen and noticed that the cooks were not wearing gloves. The waitresses were also eating food in front of customers. The dining room was so cold,it chilled our food as soon as it hit the table. We got a cheesesteak with onions and mushrooms the steak was over cooked to the point of being burnt. My wife and I stoped late on Friday night as it was the only thing open. We ordered burgers and fries. I was pleasantly surprised of how good the burgers were. Perfectly cooked and tasted great.
