Really great burger. The patties are similar to a skillet burger. For those of you unfamiliar with that the patty is thinner than what you might be familiar with so you probably want to get a double. But it's good because it's got some crispy parts which add some taste to the burger in my opinion. They also have an absolute myriad of toppings to choose from so you can build an absolute monster without adding a hefty tag to you bill. I visit the Memphis area quite often and I'm always looking for new restaurants to try. I had a dream about cheesesteak, woke up, and Yelp led me to Wimpy's. The restaurant is a decent size, not too small with plenty of seating, and clean. I felt like the menu should be a little more clear that the burger choices don't automatically come with the toppings pictured on the board, you have to tell them every specific topping you want. This caused a little confusion while placing my order between me and the cashier. Portion size of the burger was great, very filling, but I felt that the side of fries was a little small. read more

We drove all the way from Lakeland to try this place out. The place seemed rather dark, which is fine. Diner and bathrooms were pretty clean. I got the double, and it was perfect! The amount of toppings was spot on. The bun sponges any condiments. The burgers here are juicy and appropriate thickness. Way better than 5 guys. Everything I tasted was fresh. I got very full. The fries were great, but a tad much on the salty side. I came for the burger though. I recommend anyone wanting a good burger, to drop whatever you're doing and make the trip. I love a good juicy homemade hamburger. This to me was as close to homemade as they come. Each person may have a different opinion. For me, I love a well seasoned real grilled burger with fresh toppings. I also ordered onion rings. There was no need for salt and pepper but I did need a bib. Man this place has been a favorite of mine for a few years. I find it strange they are not busy all the time. Perhaps it is the location. The burgers are prepared fresh to order. They are soooo good. My favorite is mushroom Swiss with wimpy's sauce. The bun is soft, but holds the juices and burger nicely. They are generous with the toppings, and the party is large and in charge. They are full of flavor and freshness. Even the fries are great Never being cold or soggy and always in abundance. The best part? A double burger, regular drink, & sweet potato fries cost me $12.62. The best burger I ever ate was a full gourmet type burger, drink, & regular fries was just under $10. I have never had a bad burger from Wimpy's.....the grill is cured perfectly and the fries are always fresh! It's by far the best burger for the value, and the service is always on point!
