They told us to look out for deer and wow were there plenty of them! They…read morewere putting in sewer lines, and rather than chirping birds or the sound of rain we were awoken every morning to the sound of construction equipment. We would have full days of no water for 10+ hours. We would get emails stating that the water was back on, and it was in other loops but the pressure at our site and those close by was so low we couldn't get any to the actual camper. The bathhouse was also out so no luck there for even basics. Additionally the garbage dumpsters were very close to our site and overflowing the entire time resulting in awful smells wafting over regularly. Upon talking to the campstore they were unapologetic that we had no water, no mind the experience being less than desirable. They wouldn't refund the remainder of our stay, or allow us to move to another site unless we paid for the additional site. Multiple were actually aggressively pushing back that we just had to deal with it, and visibly annoyed that we were even complaining. This was additionally challenging because the only way for our trailer to exit was a road that had been dug up to put in the sewer lines and was not drivable. We were stuck, forced to remain for days in our spot, unable to even leave to go home unless we wanted to donate our camper to the state park. The construction site manager said this will be going on for a few months, so if you are coming summer 2026 watch out. While this also is not an all the time situation please consider how horrendous the most basic customer service is here before booking.

Lake Guntersville did not disappoint. I stayed at the Wyndham (review coming) which sat on the lake. My room had a beautiful view and I could sit outside on the balcony and do my work in peace. I don't have to worry about running into anyone I know and so far everyone has been very pleasant. As I'm typing this, I'm getting packed to spend a few days here....i need to refresh my mind and spirit, and to me, this is a perfect place to do it!

There are lots of restaurants and bars along the lake with docks, which is pretty nice since the only other option is by car and that takes quite a while considering everything is backroads around the lake. There's a small privately owned island in the center, the owners are super friendly as long as you keep the island clean and clean up the mess you make. So don't ruin it for the other party people. Definitely worth checking out if you have the opportunity. Just mind the no wake zones.

Slept very well in our camper , Sunday, everything was the same until about noon, some group came In with very loud speakers and a karoke machine !! They have been howling all day !! We finally government up being outside with our grandson bc the loud music and bad singing got to us!! It was non stop, they finally stopped do about an hour and it is now 7:21 and they are still going strong!! I donor mind them singing but why do we all in the campgroud. Have to be submitted to this loud disgusting trying to sing group! Has security been around at all? Apparently not ! Have they checked for alcohol? Bc surely they have some bc you would almost have to have it to listen to this noise ! I really like the campgroud , however if this is allowed at anytime I think I will find another place to spend our money . I love music and singing but please do not disturb the whole campgroud , go to Bankhead forest and get as loud as you want ! Good trip and not so good ! Please don't reply with I'm a Karen, bc I'm really not! But ppl need to show respect for the neighbors !
