When we first moved here, this park had almost nothing to it. I think one pavilion, some swings, a small pond where you can watch the fish and turtles. However, today this park is absolutely beautiful and filled with so many amenities. The park as you will see from my pictures is loaded with beautiful, mature shade trees. A sizable splash pad for the little ones, restrooms and much more. Huge pavilions for large groups to hold family reunions, birthday celebrations, etc. If you have children, this is a wonderful park to have a family gathering, or a nice picnic lunch with a friend. Come check it out!

Overlook Park is located on Lake Jessup near the southern end of the beltway bridge. Lake Jessup is…read morenotable for being the home of over 13,000 alligators giving it the highest concentration of alligators in Florida. The park is surrounded by two sulfur springs of historical significance, one to the east and one to the west that give you the feeling as if you are on a small island. The three acre park has a pavilion with several picnic tables and a grill. Throughout the park are large oak trees covered in moss that provides a shaded canopy from the sun. Around the water's edge are Cyprus trees with their interconnecting roots, also known as Cyprus knees, that stick up out of the ground. As you look out towards the water, you can see a newly reconstructed boardwalk popular with local fisherman. I especially enjoyed the wildlife at the park which is home to osprey, various Florida wading birds, and the alligators of Lake Jessup. This is an especially picturesque and peaceful park with a rich depth of area history.

The people helping to direct the traffic were kind and friendly - all with smiles on their faces and waving us along. There was music you could hear at certain parts (I wish it was louder and we could hear it the whole time). There were two parts where there was "snow". I definitely would have loved more of that being a Florida girl craving a winter wonderland! I was so grateful to attend and drive through and that it was free! So worth it!

Our friends have their Rock Super Bowl at this park each year, they have been holding this event…read moreannually so it's their Rock Super Bowl IX. We had a blast! Basically, a battle of the local rock and roll bands - a variety of different members from different bands come together on two teams for one day with a purpose to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Tickets are only $5, bring a foldup chair, 10x10 tent, a cooler and it's a great time watching all of our friends compete with one another on the field. Torcaso Cove Park is a great place to hold this event. There is a spacious field with plenty of space on the sidelines for fans. There are several parking areas available making parking easy for large events. There was plenty of space for a half-time show with live music right by the field. There were also a BBQ vendor and several other vendors on site selling food, jewelry, and other items. The park has a public restroom, a playground, splash park, sand pits, plenty of paved walking areas, a picnic area with tables, large pavilion, a beautiful bridge that crosses the heart shaped cove, the park has a bunch of Muscovy ducks waddling around and is dog friendly, what else can you ask for. Nancy and I really enjoyed our time at the park, we will definitely be back to bring our dog and take a nice walk. I just have to mention that it was a bit muddy on the field, even on a hot sunny day. So be sure to wear something you don't care about getting dirty.

There is also a splash pad, and I will openly admit to running through recently, as I chose to go on my run when it was over 95 degrees. The park is very clean, and well cared for, and it's right next to the Winter Springs Police Department, and on this day they had an event bringing awareness to autism; I was offered a popsicle and gladly grabbed it. I sat on a bench to watch a soccer match, while I finished my cold treat, stretched a bit, put on my weighted vest, waved to the ducks, and took off. Perfect park on a perfect day :)

The pool has a zero drop entry with some splash features for kids. The other end of the pool is for lap swimming. There are some tables and chairs with umbrellas but they fill up fast. There are life guards that help keep everyone safe and following the rules. There is a cost to enter the pool but it is very reasonably priced. They even have seasonal and annual passes and they take credit cards. We will be back to enjoy these amenities again!

Oh my goodness the splash pad and playground were a hit with my 10 year old. They have an amphitheater and little swan boats you can rent out to go out on the little lake. They have a concession stand to get very reasonable treats both salty and sweet. I loved the permanent checkerboards on the benches that could be used as little tables or bring your own pieces for a game! There is a lot of space where you can chillax while your kids play and they have a lot of events that happen here. I am going to keep my eyes open and attend one sometime and check out the people vibes. There are restaurants and shopping everywhere. I am SO IMPRESSED! This place was just a LITTLE past where my usual activities take me so its a testimony to getting just a BIT outside of your area and find new places to treasure!

Bear Creek Trail was a fun discovery on a recent trip to Winter Springs. There is a small parking…read morearea at the trailhead. From the parking area the trail radiates in both directions through a small hammock area with ancient cypress, oaks, and cabbage palms. The natural area serves as a floodplain buffer between two neighborhoods in the Tuscawilla community. The trail is maintained by the City of Winter Springs. Bear Creek Nature Trail is narrow and sandy. It runs parallel to Bear Creek. There are changes in elevation which makes it more interesting and you cross two small bridges. When you are high above the creek you have to be cognizant of your footing so that you don't accidentally step off the trail and fall. There are also picnic tables available. The length of the trail is .9 of a mile. Bear Creek Nature Trail was an easy and fun hike and I enjoyed the view of the creek. It also had the added bonus of being mostly shaded and bug free!
