The views and overall aesthetic were really nice and relaxing. Enjoyed making my own flight and even had some recommended since I am a red wine newbie. I wanted to buy a bottle of white wine and was offered a sample of the 2 wines I was torn between. The overall customer service here was attentive and refreshing. Tried the meat and cheese charcuterie and the Mediterranean box as well, both were great but I personally enjoyed the meat and cheese the best. (Grape leaves in the Mediterranean box were a bit dry, they should be left in some oils). Otherwise I have no complaints and had a great weekday afternoon date with my husband. read more

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this vineyard. My friends and I visited Windridge Vineyards for my best friend's birthday celebration, driving from an hour away for the visit. Upon arrival, we were seated in the outdoor area and proceeded to the bar to get drinks. At the outside bar, I encountered the most discriminatory experience I have ever had in my life. Upon approaching the bartender, there around 3pm on Saturday, October 21, 2023 (I did not catch his name), I politely asked the bartender if they served any hot drinks, like hot cider, due to the chilliness that day.  He proceeded to say "well this is a wine mill, not a cider mill..." in a snarky tone.  The lack of direct answer and nasty tone immediately rubbed me the wrong way. However, I still provided grace and proceeded to ask him for his recommendation for wine flights and which he thought was the best choice. He proceeded to say "well the best choice would be the one you like the taste of the most".  Again, an indirect and passive answer to my question. Again, a snarky tone. At this point, I disengaged with continuing any side conversation with him, as I felt disrespected multiple times and was not receiving appropriate customer service despite being a paying customer.  My friends surrounding me were also in disbelief at the rude encounter I was experiencing. I asked for the flight of sparkling wine. While he was preparing the flight and speaking to his coworker, his coworker asked him if he needed anything and he proceeded to say loudly "maybe some brain cells".  This was the final straw for me. As I left the bar, and he went on to serve my friend, he proceeded to say "on to the next victim".   As a Black woman and first-generation Duke University graduate with a degree in anthropology currently pursuing a PhD in Educational Studies, I am all too familiar with the persistence of institutional systemic oppression. Microaggression is an understatement and is not a fitting word to use for the very public, discriminatory, and unwarranted disrespectful service I received that day.  After a long drive to enjoy this venue, I would have hoped not to be subjected to this traumatic, unpleasant experience and that this venue would not tolerate this behavior from their employees. I hope this incident will be properly addressed and the employee properly reprimanded.   As for customers, I would not recommend this venue for persons of color as it was a terrible experience and I will never return. read more

We may have stumbled across a favorite new spot in MoCo! This winery was the perfect way to cap off the first truly beautiful weather day we've had in MD this year! And with COVID restrictions slightly lifted, it was great seeing people out and about enjoying time with friends, significant others, and family. We made a reservation for earlier in the week for Saturday and it felt so great to be outside day drinking again. We got one red wine flight and one white wine flight. The red wine flight consisted of Chambourcin, Encampment, and Seneca 2018. The white wine flight had Rosé, Chardonnay, and Portrayal. Portrayal was definitely the fan favorite out of the entire bunch, as it had just the right amount of sweetness and citrus-y taste that we enjoy in a wine. It was so good in fact, that we decided to get a bottle. They also sold crackers, cheese and meats to compliment your wine, or you have the option of bringing your own charcuterie board altogether. The vineyard is also pet friendly for all of my animal lovers out there. This was as close to a perfect day as you can get. read more

Very new winery in Darnestown, MD. It's so close to where we live in Germantown. It was quite busy on a Saturday afternoon. Way too many dogs around for me but I have a bit of a dog phobia. Beautiful scenic views from the outdoor tasting room. An indoor tasting room will be ready by 2020. It's a pretty chilled spot. Lovely vineyards close by to walk through. Nice big tables to sit on and enjoy really tasty wines. We loved all wines (surprisingly Chardonnay was so well done and all grown here! Great job winemaker ) but especially the Seneca Red Blend (Merlot and P. Verdot) and Cab Franc Reserve. We took a bottle of the Blend home. The staff was absolutely wonderful and accommodating. Kids had a good time on the grounds and playing with their toys on the tables. Thank you for opening an awesome winery. We will be regular visitors!! read more

The vineyard location is quite convenient as it is located directly off of a main highway; that's not usually the case with most wineries, which are usually off the beaten path and down some dirt road full of massive holes. Other than the location, I could not recommend this place for regular visits. First of all, it's very trendy with all of the yuppie MoCo millennials rudely stealing reserved tables and generally annoying every one over 35 with their constant loud discussions, full of constant profanity and utter nonsense. Secondly, the wine is overpriced compared to similar quality outside of MoCo. The Seneca 2017 is the best red, smooth and silky, but at $45-48 a bottle, it ain't good value. This wine wouldn't fetch more than $35 in any other county. Do yourself a favor and head a bit further up the road for better value and much more respectful crowds. read more

The winery hit it out of the ballpark for our son's proposal and celebration with his fiancé! Best service ever! Wine kept flowing. Charcuterie boards were lovely. Server devoted just to our gathering. So attentive and on top of it all. The team even recorded our family and guests who rushed to the vineyard to celebrate the newly engaged couple with cheers and balloons! Highly recommend this spot. They never disappoint. This place is amazing! Visited for the first time this week and we will definitely be back. We didn't make any reservations and were able to walk in and get wine flights. The server was so nice and walked us through all of their wines available for the flights and let us try a wine that wasn't offered for the flights to see if we wanted a glass. We tried 7 different wines in total and they all had such great flavor to them and were really enjoyable. We also got a charcuterie box which was delicious! The outdoor seating space is huge and even though there were a couple of larger parties, the grounds were so quiet and peaceful and every seat looked out over the beautiful grape vines. We are seriously considering joining the wine club here! read more

Winery is nice and wine is decent. Its great that only 15 minutes from our house. Only problem is some staff members. This time, we came across older gentleman at the bar and he was not nice at all. He kinda talked down to us, acting like he is James Suckling or something. We are not wine snobs but drink quite a bit and have cellar in our house. This is a beautiful vineyard. The wine is amazing. For "covid times" they have a hostess bring you to a table / seats (outside or inside). The outside chairs are spaced apart and comfortable. The staff here is always very friendly and welcoming. It's great that you can make reservations for specific seating areas. The view is really nice, too. However, the wine is only "okay". Some of it is better than others, but it's all over priced for what it is. I really like the Portrayal and Sparkling Portrayal, but at $38 (sparkling)/bottle, I'll pass. They also handle large crowds pretty well. The parking lot may looked packed, but they have a lot of space are able to spread people out quite well. They also enforce the rules about children running all over the place, so it's nice to not feel like you're at a daycare instead of a winery. read more

First and last time here. You MUST have a reservation or else be placed in the furtherest seating section or in the heat. Some tables were waited on while others closest to the fields had to get their own wine. I immediately left when i seen differential treatment. I noticed other people who did not have a reservation were seated closer to the front. There were dozens of open tables/ covered seating however we were placed in the back because "we didn't have a reservation". (Please note we did have reservation and we just wanted to swap our seats to a covered area because of the heat)I will not return nor would i recommend. I would give this a middle range type of review considering the selections available for wineries in Montgomery County. It's attractive and has relatively good wines, but the seating outside is to exposed with tiny umbrellas around the tables and not enough covered seating. The bottom line is you end up roasting on the hot hillside overlooking the vineyards because there are no trees and not enough covered seating. I think they will have a hard time competing with Rocklands Farm Winery only a few miles away (I have no vested interest other than avoiding the sunburn I'm getting) and many trees and lots of different seating selections that make the overall experience better. Windridge needs to invest in bigger umbrellas, more covered seating, and fans on the patios. Come only on an overcast day. read more

I hesitate to write this review because I'm worried some may take my comments too much to heart and then when I can't get a reservation, I will kick myself! Truth be told, the winery was a side bar for the reason we went to Windridge. My sisters friend was operating the food truck "Chief Bradley's BBQ" (another review to follow) and we went to have bbq which just so happened to be at Windridge. Any who....the service was stellar. Branson was so accommodating and when we needed a wine cooler vessel, an attendant made sure to bring one to our table when none were available at the time. The service was attentive and friendly. The management team of Laurie and Andrew were exceptional representatives for Windridge. I honestly would come back just for them. Together they made a powerful duo accommodating guests and keeping the flow of reservations and needs going. Windridge is so fortunate to have them. Kathy Butz, one of the owners, made a point to check on us and to check on our experience. I don't know about you, but this means a lot to me. Kathy was so genuine and helpful in answering our barrage of questions about the vineyard and the AG reserve. We had a flight of the wine and red wines. I made a point, a rather pronounced point, that I dislike Reislings immensely (too sweet for me) and anyone was welcome to mine. Lo and behold, it was my favorite. I had to safeguard it again my fellow guests. All those in my party are red wine drinkers but unanimously liked the white wine selection far above the red. Be sure to visit Windridge but please refrain from making a reservation when I want to go. read more

Great place for a great time! I suggest making reservations as soon as you can because this is a popular vineyard and is often full. We visited Windridge while it was raining but luckily our table was in the Solar Pavilion which was covered (not sure if all reserved tables are covered). The staff and drinks were wonderful and There were a couple food trucks present but we went for the charcuterie option which we picked up inside in the tasting room. Windridge offers a great combination of bucolic scenery, good wine and food (trucks), and a great chill out vibe. It's a great destination for adults of all ages and dogs to hang out, but not so much for kids as no running around/sports equipment is permitted. But that's fine, it's quieter that way! read more

I also like the proximity of the parking to where I sat. I'm handicapped and it was much easier than other places I have been. What a lovely hidden gem close to home! It's so nice to have a large vineyard with views nearby and not have to drive to Purcelville VA for a good wine experience. We had a wonderful experience at Windridge Vineyard celebrating my milestone birthday. Amy in Events worked with us a few days before the event to substitute the random tables we'd reserved earlier with a group of tables placed together, down the hill from the Pavilion next to the vineyard. There was plenty of space for the handful of children to move around and for adults to stand or sit at the 4 picnic tables. We brought extra folding chairs and a folding table for food, as we had almost 30 people come. It was easy to get bottles of wine from the Pavilion bar, and we brought our own food. The regular and sparkling roses were the favorite, and we also liked the WV white and red. We found the staff very helpful (including the woman on the info line) and especially appreciated the male server who graciously helped one of the guests using a cane to navigate downhill. Parking is conveniently near the buildings/tables. I was delighted to find this winery in a beautiful setting so near by, and we look forward to returning and trying more of the wines! Windridge checks all the boxes for an awesome vineyard! Great wine, great views and great outdoor set-up. We spent the afternoon hanging out on the lawn with a few friends. This is even with Dwight forgetting his ID and (sadly) not partaking in the wine. And it wasn't really Dwight's fault either. His lack of opposable thumbs makes carrying a wallet hard. But nonetheless, he also thoroughly enjoyed his time snacking on the grass and trying to make new friends with all passing patrons. Fun was had by all! read more

On a whim my husband and I decided to drive out to an orchard and while driving along Route 28 we were pleasantly surprised to see a winery and stopped by. The winery has done a good job with covid safety measures. As we approached the winery there was someone who greeted us. Since we did not have reservations we were unable to get a table with an umbrella but there were Adirondack chairs and other outdoor seating options. The non-reservation seating options are in full sun so if this would bother you make a reservation. The facility is new, parking is ample, the grounds are maintained nicely and all tables are well spaced. The venue allows dogs and children. Because we knew nothing about the wines heading in we had low expectations but enjoyed the red and rose wines we got glasses of. The wines are a bit on the pricier side and I'm sure due to covid there were no tasting options on the day we visited. I will definitely return to this winery with a reservation in the future as I'd like to explore it more. I few minor suggestions are that it would have been nice if a little music was playing. It looked as though there were speakers on the patio not in use. Also the place does get busy and few want to drink wine in the hot sun so I think the venue should consider umbrellas for the non-reservation area or even a tent. Until we have a vaccine for covid many people will only feel comfortable outdoors and although an investment it should improve sales on sunny or rainy days. Definitely worth a visit in my opinion and happy to have stumbled upon this vineyard. read more

A pleasant surprise so close to home. We passed by this newly opened winery two weekends ago and it was bustling with no available parking. When we recently returned on a chill Sunday afternoon, there were considerably less people so we decided to park and try it out. If you arrive before 1pm like we did on a Sunday, you'll probably have your choice of pumpkin decorated picnic benches and lawn chairs to choose from like we did. There are limited seats beneath an awning, for those avoiding the sun, and there are several tables with umbrellas to provide shade. The scenery is very nice atop a hill and quite relaxing. Again, we didn't come on a busy day so I can't speak to what it feels like on a crowded day. I agree with another yelper that the dogs can be a bit much, especially when they're up on furniture/seats. There was a good mix of people there, including childless couples, families with very small children, singles, and groups of friends. Unlike other wineries I've visited, the customers here were really down to earth and friendly. We struck up conversations with a lot of different people and we all really enjoyed watching and eating the paella that was made at the paella stand. The couple that runs it (Shari and Alejandro) were very nice and explained the recipe they used, giving out samples of prawns and mussels while we waited patiently for the time consuming dish to be made. If it weren't for them, no one who didn't bring their own food would have anything to eat, as the winery doesn't sell cheese/crackers--at least we didn't see it posted on their menu. A lot of people were grumbling about that. About the wine itself, I wasn't too impressed with the selection nor the value you get for what you pay for (you get very small pours). If I were to come again, I would buy a bottle instead of just two glasses, which came to $18. My husband ended up settling on the reisling, which is very dry, but he liked it, and I got the portrayal, which was fruit forward and slightly dry. I did like that one. The chardonnay that I tasted was just not great at all, which was quite disappointing as I love a good chardonnay. The staff was all young, a lot of them in yoga pants, so keep that in mind if you're accustomed to being served by a more mature staff, however, the young woman that assisted us was very professional and friendly. The tasting room is still undergoing construction, and I'm not sure what's going on with the Orlando-themed palm trees lining the terrace, but I'm sure it will all come together as they finish working on it. I did see bathrooms on site but couldn't tell if they were portable. My husband said he overheard someone mention using them and saying they were extremely clean, so that's always a relief when you're out and need a restroom break. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience and definitely recommend you coming here at least once. read more

I love this vineyard, the wine is excellent! The setting is very pretty and Lori is just fabulous. I can't say enough nice things about her. She was so helpful from the moment I reached out for a reservation on Mother's Day. We reserved a seating area in the tasting room with the blue couch which has a very pretty view of the vineyard. Lori was not able to be there on the day we came, but she prepared floral bouquets and some goodies for the Moms in our group. So thoughtful. Lori - my mother in law was impressed. Windridge Vineyards just opened on July 13th. They are a work in progress. They have a small tasting room with outdoor covered seating. They are in the process of building an actual tasting room which should have spectacular views of the countryside and vineyards. It's California in Darnestown. We were very pleased to find that you don't have to go too far to have very good wine.! We had a tasting and have to say we enjoyed every wine, which is very unusal . I don't want to bias you with what we bought but, plan to return very soon to buy and taste more wine. Both the staff and owner were very welcoming and knowledgeable. They are a wonderful addition to the area. !! read more
