I will definitely go back to try to the other dishes on the menu, eg Cambodian curry, fish noodle soup, Chicken Amok etc.

Going with the chefs recommendation, I went for the Fried Mee Hoon with vermicelli noodles. Great option for those who are gluten intolerant. All noodle dishes and laksa can be made with vermicelli noodles. The dish was made fast, so if you are in a rush this is a good spot. Nice smoky wok flavour though the noodles, fresh chicken and bbq pork. Although frozen style prawns were tossed through. I really only like fresh prawns, so that was a bit disappointing. But, the dish was good overall. Look, this is not my favourite place for food in the markets. But a good option if want to avoid the food halls, get something fast and cheap!

Good source of lightings from the downlights coupled with 3 decorative lamps combined to bring a nice relaxing ambience to the place. There are pictures of different types of chillies to bring home the point of 'spice' (as their name suggest). However, even though I said that the ambience is relaxing, when the crowd starts arriving, the place is noisy... like really noisy .. you will really need to talk a bit loudly than you normally would in order to get yourself heard. Today's crowd is comparably less crowded and it's still noisy. When you enter into the restaurant, they will bring you to a table as well as the menu. Choices galore on the menu on the front and back. Once you've decided what you wanted to eat, you can make your way to the counter and make your order. You would have to pay on the spot. The cashier on duty has good grasp of english and knowledgeable on their food on the menu. I've overheard her conversation with the customer before me where she explained the difference between the 'normal' laksa and the Sarawak laksa listed on their board. I made my orders shortly after. It was quick. The food though took awhile to arrive. To be fair, the cashier did politely inform me before I made my orders that they are fairly busy, and there will be a 'slightly' longer than usual wait. Anyhoo. The drinks were served first. They are all stirred fried together. The beef is chewy, but not too hard. Still ok. It's the sauce that I'm not really a fan of. It's fairly watery, resulting in a rather bland taste tonight. I would say that the portion is rather small also. Overall, I would say that the beef hor fun at Nanyang (if that place is still around, I haven't swing by for a while now.. haha) is way better. As sad as this makes me sound, I'll admit that I never change my order and I can recite it off by heart because I am absolutely besotted with the menu at this family-run establishment. We always start with their quail entree- the best in Adelaide. A flavour bomb in its own right, I'm pretty sure it's been marinated in some sort of soy, chunky lemongrass and garlic sauce before being grilled or fried to perfection. I don't know which method they cook it in and quite frankly, could not care less. A little bit of squeezed lemon and white pepper/salt seasoning on them and you'll quickly realise that half a quail will not suffice. Then onto the DIY cold rolls - sugar cane prawn and grilled pork balls. The platters come out piled with fresh herbs, pickled veggies, noodles and crushed roasted peanuts and sauces that make my tastebuds sing. A thick caramelish peanut chilli sauce and a sweet fish-sauce based sauce to dip or pour into your hand crafted cigars or goodness. You'll soon lose count of how many cold rolls you attempted to create and devour. And the mains: Beef salad, salt n pepper squid and a rice hot pot. BOOM. End of conversations at the dinner table as everyone just falls into chewing silence and nods of mutual appreciation. The salad is fragrant, fresh, and a bit tart, while the squid is deliciously crisp and perfectly tangy, the hot pot will be a textural wonderland for the tastebuds. The service is always super lovely... We have been coming here as a family for years and have seen the family owners serve us time and time again with grace and friendliness. Various beef, chicken, pork, vegetable and seafood dishes; all of which bursting with fantastic fresh and authentic flavours. Well cooked vegetables and all poultry and meats were just right. Some areas of the restaurant are dated and could do with some updating to match with the more modern décor at the entry however I believe this adds to the overall charm of this classic restaurant. There is so much I love about this small restaurant. Afghan food is amazing wherever you try it. But these guys take it to a whole new level. It is so fresh and homely. This is really the family cooking for you. You really can taste the love and skill they put into their food. In Adelaide, burgers are the flavour of the month (or maybe flavour of the last two years). Kutchi Delhi give the burger joints a run for their money offering something different than just a beef patty. The Chapli Kebab (Traditional Afghan Burger) is amazing. Just thinking about this burger as I write this is making me hungry. The lamb patty is light, spiced and herbed. It is complimented with tomatoes, lettuce and coriander. But best of all a mouth watering yoghurt minted sauce. This marries with the lamb so well. To finish,it is all placed in a traditional flat bread which is fresh and light. Don't get me wrong though, this is a super filling meal. But it is not fatty and heavy like your normal burger, and maybe why it is more appealing to me. As for the rest of the menu, I have only tried the Bolani with leek and feta (panfried turnover) served with the same amazing yoghurt sauce. This was awesome, and I think would be a great hangover cure! I am told that the Mantu Dumplings are to die for. So that is my next pick when I drop in. I'll have to return to try more items from their delicious selection.
