If you need a simple manicure, pedicure, haircut, etc. - and have time... this is a great place to go! The prices are reasonable, and the students are sweet and open-minded! The teacher came around a few times to check on the progress, so no worries! Book your appointment, park on campus, and sign in with the receptionist who will give a parking pass for $3 - which will be added to the bill for services. It's cash only. Remember to tip the student! Note: I got a manicure - it was very relaxing! My former coworker got a haircut. My friend is getting a scalp treatment and facial tomorrow! I want to try that next!

The classes offered are usually graduate level and upper undergraduate oceanography, marine biology or ecology classes. HPU graduate students in the Master of Science in Marine Sciences can benefit from graduate offices and laboratories. Some of the professors' offices are definitely among HPU's nicest!! And, incredible but true, all students, staff and researchers can enjoy FREE parking! Rare in Hawai'i. However, don't forget your sweaters and cup of coffee, the AC is cranked up! The biggest downside of this paradisiac location is the commute. If you own a car, you'll hate the gas expenses. If you don't, you're quite screwed. Only a few bus lines (22, 57) go around, and only about once a hour. Plan ahead! But once you start going to the oceanic institute, you just don't want to have classes in any other campus :-)

Not wanting to hoof it to study at da HPU library 1-2 blocks away near Bishop St. OR study outside on da numerous tables + seats da line Fort Street (I sked I gonna catch TB or a disease from somebody), I go hea to relax, kaukau + study befoa my classes. HOURS? During regular school year, Mon - Fri, 7 AM - 6 PM (closed during HPU holidays). For this summer 2012, hours are Mon - Fri, 8 AM - 5 PM (May 14 - Aug. 31, 2012) AC, BABY! Especially welcoming on da days wen downtown no mo' trades + da weather makes you feel as if you're up someone's armpit SAFE, WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT. Patronage of this area is limited to HPU students with a valid student ID. No need worry, beef curry, about having bums ask you fo' money, seeing druggies tweak out after their highs, etc. I have empathy fo' da kine populations, but wen I stay paying my hard-earned money to attend college at mo' den $1K PER COURSE, get some tings I no like deal with as I go about my college biz. STUDY, RELAX, REPEAT. There's about a dozen study cubicles situated in da back if you hardcore l'dat + really need to get some studying in. A large screen TV with comfy chairs is available in da middle of da room, and get a few addah sofas + comfy chairs scattered around. PC/PRINTER/WI-FI. The HPU's wi-fi system is available fo' your smartphone, netbook, laptop, or addah kine electronic device. You'll need a login + password. It's not meep-meep RR fast, but respectable enough. If you no mo' computer, get 4 PCs available to log into + utilize fo' writer papers, surf da 'net + print out. Mind you, da buggahs are a wee slowwwwwww. FAVE PLACE TO STUDY ON CAMPUS! I've come here every single freakin' week dis past spring semester + I totally love it. HPU students might not be aware of its existence, esp. since it just opened in Sept. 2011. A favorite spot I usually like to go to in-between classes when I have my laptop and / or food…read more When it first opened a while ago I thought it was a hang out for more of the cheerleaders since they would always be around... It has changed. It's a nice place to get together with others and there's a TV, but on mute with subtitles. Along with the couches, there's cubicles/desk areas where you can study / sleep / whatever you please on your own. Three computers on the side if you rather not go to the computer lab and bathrooms in the back area. There's also offices for faulty, the student government meet in a room near the entrance and mailboxes for RSO's are hidden in the hallway. Remember, have your ID ready before walking in!

As an undergraduate, I spent a lot of time here from chillin in the courtyard having some lunch, drinking it up in bale, practicing with the crew at the dance studios, or doing an interview at KTUH. Lots of good times here. This area can be utilized by both students and non students. On the ground floor area there is American savings bank, bale (only place on campus that serves drinks), ka Leo student newspaper place, barber shop, etc. On second floor has some dance studios and rooms for students to use and reserve, the dental hygiene program, KTUH (Student run radio station), etc. If you are a currently a student this is a great place to chill and hang out. It is an excellent resource on campus. Sometimes there's events that happen at the hemenway hall courtyard which is cool. There's a drink dispenser vending machine around the area. Hemenway hall is located right next to Sinclair library and not too far from campus center and university ave. across the street. I always come here every week for dance crew practices. So yeah definitely one of the coolest places on campus!

Tasty appetizers and cute games by department heads and managers. Venue is large with expandable banquet area walls. They can set up a bar and picture taking station. There are many steps as the Chaminade is set up on a hill but there are ADA ramps if u need to reach the buildings.

I attended Chaminade for the Nursing Program, but my experience was disappointing. I ended up with…read moretwo professors for Patho/Pharm because one was planning to leave, which led to confusion and conflicting information on critical topics. Only a few professors seemed genuinely invested in their students' success, and sadly, one of them is retiring. The program admits a large number of students, seemingly just to ensure that many of them fail. I understand the need to weed out students, but it feels like they do it with ill intentions. This place is sooo expensive. It not even including the textbooks which are $300 or more, and parking passes cost $250 per semester, which is outrageous considering the limited parking space. We have to share the parking structure with St. Louis students, and much of the parking is inconveniently located at the top of a hill. It feels like our tuition is being spent on maintaining a comfortable lifestyle for the Brothers, which might make sense for a Catholic school, but what about the students? Over the summer, they spent money fixing the road entrance, which seemed unnecessary--it was fine before, and now it just has better-looking lines. Kokua Ike is a great study space, but it's often overcrowded and noisy; I hope it gets the upgrade it deserves! On the plus side, there are frequent free events on campus, which is nice, so I make sure to take advantage of them since I'm essentially paying for them. However, for a private school with such high tuition, the Wi-Fi is consistently slow, and the quality of the ID photos is poor--they come out grainy, and the camera setup forces you to look up instead of straight ahead. There's also a lack of food options. Overall, it seems like Chaminade is more focused on making money than truly caring for its students. I do appreciate the campus cats, the pretty views, and the few dedicated faculty members who remain.

I had two classes in this building one semester and I really like the class rooms!…read more The building is renovated, so all the classrooms are clean and pretty! One classroom I was in was a bit different from normal classrooms. There was a really long bench-couch-like piece of furniture that was on one side of the classroom facing a the side where the teacher would stand with a smartboard, and walls that are actually moveable whiteboards! There is also a garden area in the muddle of the building. It's a really nice place to eat lunch and relax.
