Awesome Chicago dog, very good chili dog (ask for onions), and regular (not hot) polish. Yes, I had all three. My wife had the tamale, she said it was great. I'm going back to try the Italian sausage and beef. It was a little hot outside since there's no indoor seating, but I fought through it, enjoying my meal. Next time I'll do take out. The whole point of coming to Windy City dogs is to actually get the pizza puff. I did order three hotdogs however. Two were Chicago style and one had mustard only. The female order taker/chef was super polite and helpful in my order was prepared quickly. I was the only one in there. The mustard dog had excessive mustard on it unfortunately and the bun ends were a little dry. My family enjoyed the Chicago dogs and said it was one of the best they've had. Yes we are originally from Chicago so I think my review qualifies for that statement. There is no indoor seating to eat. There's a few little seats outside. This seems like a nice location that probably gets business from the nearby park and homes. Very reasonably priced. On the hunt today for a good Chicago dog or possible Italian beef and came across Windy City Dogs. I'm kicking myself for somehow letting this one slip under the radar for so long.. That changes after today. After talking with the owner they've been here for 12 years. I will say I don't frequent El Mirage much besides a few taco spots. So this was a good change of pace. The spot was easy to find and located right in the same parking lot as the neighboring skate park.parking was easy. We were not only greeted right away, but we had a great chat while our food was fixed. The location is small. There are a few seats at a high top and one table, but for the most part all seating is outside or take home and eat. We wanted to try not only the Chicago dogs, but the Italian beef as well which we got with the hot peppers. They offer many side options like fried. Onion rings and more, but we stuck with the three main items and some bottled waters. Drinks are all bottled. Gatorade, monsters you name it. That's awesome of you're at the park on a hot day and need a drink or two. Our food was ready quick, prices fair and I was excited to dig in. The Italian beef looked, smelled and most importantly was delicious! Bread was made well and wasn't instantly soggy. I loved it came with Aus Ju to dip it in. Hands down my favorite. The cashier is extremely rude to everyone and their family. Every time you step foot inside he's got a sarcastic comment about taking too long to order, or asking for a simple napkin. He claims the napkins come out of his check and shouldn't hand them out. He's told me to give up my outside table even though no one was at the park and I was eating lunch with my husband and 1 year old. This wasn't a one time experience he's always rude every time me or my family come in, I've even heard other kids walk out discussing how rude he is. After a fun time at the splash pad with our kids, we decided to stop for a cool treat at the nearby "Hawaiian Shaved Ice" stand. What we thought would be a refreshing stop quickly turned sour and I knew it wasnt "HAWAIIAN" and I should of listened to my instincts. However. whats a small shave ice to a restaurant that is totally empty The man behind the counter was noticeably rude--rushed us even though we were the only ones there, saying "Whose gonna come in on a weekday in 100 degrees" lol, um US and he corrected me when I said "shave ice," insisting it's called "shaved ice." I let him know that shave ice is the correct term in Hawaiʻi and that his menu didn't carry any true Hawaiian flavors--no lilikoʻi, no lychee, no haupia (coconut), nothing cultural, other than pineapple (which isn't even native to Hawaiʻi). His response? "Yeah, it's not Hawaiian. It's just what we have on the window." And when I suggested he needs to change the sign so it's not misrepresenting or misleading of our culture, he said: "I've been in business for 13 years. I'm not changing anything." That's the problem. Thirteen years of misappropriating/misleading Hawaiian identity just to turn a profit. No effort to understand the culture. No respect. Just a name slapped on a window. So we walked out. And we won't be back. If you're craving real Hawaiian shave ice--with aloha, authentic flavors, and deep cultural roots--go see Happy Honu Shave Ice in Peoria. When I arrived i was asked to wait while they finished marking cups of ranch, which seemed like it could have been continued after I left since there was no one else in the building. After I ordered i turned to find a seat and thats when I saw the sign, seats are for waiting, all food orders are to go. Being in sales, so far it seemed like everything about this place was very anti-customer. Received my order, timing was decent and server was friendly. Food: We ordered 2 chicken tenders combos, pizza puff, combo, chili cheese fries, tamale boat and 2 sausage & Italian beef sandwich combos and got crinkle fries with all of our meals. Best Italian Beef sandwich west of the cities!! They were flavorful, the portion was huge and the Au Jus was really great! Service: We had the food delivered by UberEats but I want to thank whomever that put the order together because I considered it a pretty large order and we got everything we ordered! All the food was neatly packed, the fries were in separate containers so we didn't get soggy fries. Price: Pricing was great for the huge portions that we received. Hidden Gem! Ever since the TV show The Bear I have been wanting to try an Italian beef sandwich. Grew up on the east coast with Philly cheese steaks and could not imagine anything better. Found this place today and it is the best takeout sandwich I ever had. Got the beef sandwich with sweet peppers. It's a winner-stacked, flavorful, fresh and juicy. Definitely going back. I went here the other day hoping for a classic Chicago dog. And they delivered. The buns were maybe a slight bit over steamed which made them "gluey" but the dog condiments and flavors were perfect. Hit the spot and satisfied the craving. For the food I give a 5 star review. However the restaurant and service was another story. I walked in and was hit by essentially every sign making it clear my business wasn't welcome. No, you can't use the bathroom. No, you can't eat it here. No, don't touch anything. No you can't use your debit card (I know it's more common these days but it's ridiculous to charge a convenience fee for cards. Much less ask for a $1.50). Good thing I had cash or I would have walked out. No way I pay that kind of fee. Also, there appeared to be just one employee and she never even made eye contact with me. She avoided acknowledging me as a person in every way. Beyond the eye contact, minimal words were spoken and there was no interaction other than order and payment. As is mentioned in other reviews, the building is in a park. Eating is done outside at picnic tables. It is a one-person show that works hard and is highly organized. The food met Chicago criteria. I consider the Italian beef sandwich I ordered only mediocre. The gravy, served on the side of an otherwise dry sandwich, was light in color and lacked flavor. The onion rings seemed to come right out of the grocery store freezer case, heavy on the breading with no onion flavor. This was such a perfect little lunch spot! I just dropped in for a quick snack and I'm so disappointed I didn't stop in a long time ago! Very decent prices and a great selection. They don't just have hot dogs. They had nachos, mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers and even tamales! The kids at the park must love this place. It's got a lot of guilty pleasure foods that are perfect for a rough day and you feel like treating yourself. The man at the counter was very friendly even though he was clearly busy. They were hot but not falling apart, very good and the marinara sauce it came with was very tasty. I loved the little details too. For a small little place they were high tech with the music on Pandora, easy card reader and very clean tv monitor menu. They also had vending machines with great snacks! Most vending machines have the same old things but this one had stuff you don't ever see but always want. Same with the drinks. Great selection! Doesn't sound necessary at a restaurant but it's so convenient for that park! You could hang out all day at the park and never get sick of this restaurant!
