I received a digital perm from Windy, and it turned out amazing and had a wonderful experience. Windy and the young lady working with her were so kind and considerate. Scheduling was super easy and quick and they made sure I had all of the necessary information before coming in. A few things to be aware of if you're considering getting a perm here: - For anyone with long hair, they will probably strongly suggest allowing them to add layers to your hair. It's a very important to making the curls look their best. - I had another perm over a year ago at another salon, and my hair still feels very healthy after my second perm. I will just say it is necessary to condition, avoid heat tools when possible, and generally take care of your hair better than virgin hair. I did already have some split ends only a week after, but I'm making sure to focus conditioner on my ends. It's not recommended that you get a perm if you've had any kind of bleaching done in the last few years. - If you have neck/back pain, be aware that the curlers can become heavy depending on the thickness of your hair, and can cause strain. - I have thick hair and my appointment was almost 4 hours long, but that's because there are a lot of steps, and they are very thorough and considerate throughout the process. - Windy gave me a free bottle of Korean conditioning curl cream as I was leaving, and she was so sweet about it. Both Min and Windy took amazing care of me during my very first visit. After struggling to find promising Asian hair salons in ATX, I decided to give them a shot. I promise you they did not disappoint!! Stepping inside their space really felt like home. Despite their small space, the setting promotes a more in depth and intimate setting to guarantee you leave more than satisfied. They recently relocated and appointments are made by phone / Instagram DM's. I went in for a trim and a perm decided to go with one of their pictures on their Instagram for reference. I had a general idea of what I wanted but while consulting with Min she really narrowed for what I really wanted . Overall my stay lasted about an hour and a half! I paid $130 for my service and that is honestly amazing for the level of care and service they bless you with. Updating my review when I lived in Austin I loved coming here the perms were reasonably priced and everyone really kind . I recommend bringing pictures of what you are trying to achieve. Bring a lot of different reference photos ask for a wavy perm if you don't want the curls too tight. read more

I came in for a Korean digital perm and was so satisfied with the results. I have long, pin straight hair with fine texture so I wasn't sure how it'd turn out. The process took about 3 hours, but they're constantly checking in with you and making sure you're comfortable. By the time they dried it, it was so curly and voluminous I almost didn't recognize myself! The price was very reasonable and I enjoyed talking with them throughout the appointment. They were also kind enough to send me home with some free products to support my new curly hair journey. The new location is a bit cozy, but it reminded me of my grandma's home (in the best way!) I really hate to leave a bad review, but I don't want this to happen to anyone else. I had a feeling early on that I what I wanted wasn't getting clear so I went with what I thought would be a safer, more salvageable cut, more like a long trim, but still the cut was no where close to the model I showed. I had very long curly/wavy hair and wanted to shorten about 4 inches with a mild restyling. The stylist dragged her fingers down my hair and held at about 4 inches from the ends. I confirmed the desired length. Instead I had about 7-8 inches removed off the back. She even parted my hair in the middle for the entire cut; neither I nor the model I showed had a middle part, showing she barely paid any attention to the model I showed. When I stepped out of the chair I couldn't even look at myself and rushed home to try to play with it. I still have no clue what to do with this or who has ever had a cut like this. Worst cut and communication I've ever had with a stylist. I've had stylists with language barriers in the past, but they were still able get somewhat close to the picture shown. This Salon is great!! Before the beginning of 2023 I had long hair with damages all the time, so I decided to try something new and cut my hair short and thin before my birthday in January. I was very wary at first because my past experiences with different stylists always disappoints me to the point I just cut my hair every once a year. I gave this store a try even though it's farther away from me, but now I'm a regular customer here every three months for touch ups on my new hair because windy never disappoints me with the outcome! I love looking fashionable, and started stylizing and maintaining my new haircut, so with this new look i'm always getting compliments everywhere I go!! They are very nice women to interact with too and I enjoy talking to them, even if theres a language barrier with some of the girls there. Moving to Austin, it was important to me to find someone who could cut Asian hair really well. I was recommended by a friend and I tried it out. The people here are incredibly kind and accommodating and my haircut looked great! I later went in another time to get a perm and while I was a little bit nervous, I went for it. Came in for a cut and they did a horrible job cutting my hair. I had to go somewhere else right after to get it cut AGAIN. Uneven, patchy, and cut my sides very high up. I'm so depressed about my hair cut. Emotional damage, and I had to pay. 1. I waited 30 minutes past my appointment. They didn't even wash my hair. 2. The hair stylist doesn't speak much English. I told her I just need the haircut to be the same and 1 inch off, under my ear. She seemed like she got it, but she didn't. She proceeded to cut above my ear. She kept saying to the earring, and the earring I was wearing was dangling, so I didn't think she would cut above my ear. 3. I pointed out that she cut one side uneven. It looks like stairs, she says it's bc the hair is blown dried. I wanted my hair to be straight all the way around, but it's so uneven and hair poking out. 4. I went from a pretty / cute girl to a Mean Korean mother-in-law or a rich Auntie who's Medan to people in Korean drama. 5. You can't even communicate with the hair stylist. You don't know what she's doing until it's too late. She also buzzed me using a shaver! All I wanted was my original haircut with a scissor trim, just a shorter length. Can you see she made the bottom super think, and I look like I have very thin hair? That's why I wanted even length of haircut with some volume. But there is not volume. She tried to drag my upper hair out to make it puffy, but I don't want to look like a mushroom. 6. I hate my haircut everyday and everytime I look at myself in the mirror. I am depressed, hiding home and not want to go out. 7. The worst part is that I didn't wanna be rude, and had to pay $8 + $40 for a depression. 8. It's been about several weeks. It takes forever for the hair to grow out, and I still cannot get over about how sad I am and how much I hate this haircut. 9. Please kindly refund my money for this much of damage. This is so bad. I had super damaged hair to the point that I had difficulty brushing it due to constant use of hair iron so I had requested to cut most, but not all because I wanted to keep my length / help me grow it out faster. I am so mad about this place. My hair shop I usually go to has fully booked for two weeks, and I had an interview so I needed a hair cut. Mom wanted also do a perm, so I did a research. I found Windy, photos of customers seems pretty ok, we decided to give a try. But, we immediately knew this was a biggest mistake. 1. We made an appointment at 2:30 pm, when we arrived there early, around 2 pm, there was this one guy at the sofa and they also asked us to wait a bit at the sofa area. So we did. They called the guy who was already waiting before us, and it turns out that he was a walk-in customer. The time they called him in was 2:30 pm. Wth? 2. They told my mom's hair is too difficult to do the perm (my mom has the thinnest hair and very weak), so they suggested a Keratin treatment. Mom said ok. The thing about Keratin treatment, I already got that from my favorite hair shop as well, it is meant to heal your damaged hair from whatever damage it has taken. Keratin is a fatty inclosure into the damaged hair, it gives more strength and energy. So whenever u ask to do keratin, it is a must that they also have this healing treatment afterwards or keratin liquid is too strong. For me, keratin treatment process was super long one (and this is how usual this treatment takes in), it took me 3-4 hours, since whole process is: 1. Adding Keratin liquid onto each strands of hairs with 7 separated parts 2. dry with a perm machine for 30 min to settle in the liquid 3. shampoo (wash out the dried and dead scruffs from the liquid) 4. dry, styling cut, add healing treatment oils and creams 5. machine dry again for 30 min 6. shampoo (washing out) + nourishing oil treatment + washing again, drying 7. finalizing touch (cut, blow drying, etc). Windy? They cut this process down to just a simple one step. They pour down the strong Keratin chemicals directly onto my mom's hair (as I said, she has the thinnest hair, so the chemical were directly damaged her head skins, they supposed to use this paper sheets between hairs and only have applying the chemicals onto hairs, not the head), then used the blow dryer to drying it off. Which, I keep repeating that my mom has the thinnest hairs, the dryer was directly blown into her head, it had a highest power, so it gave her a slight burnt. Mom directly complained how hot it was, but every time they said to mom was like, "don't worry, we're not burning you~" but they did. They never gave her shampoo after this strong chemical was applied to her hair. As the end result, I saw her whole hair was even worser than before she got the Keratin treatment. WHAT USUALLY HAPPENS, when you get this Keratin treatment? You'll get the shiny, soft,Beautiful nourished hairs you could ever get. But my mom's result was completely opposite from what I usually seen as a "keratin treatment". I was so upset. Then they ask my mother to pay 120 dollars for this ridiculous and horrible seizure. By the way, my mom's hair, I keep saying, she has the thinnest hair, energy-less. She never paid over 90 dollars from any hair shops for Keratin, or any type of perm since her hair is super thin. It doesn't take much of chemicals to waste, it is super easy. Her hair was never longer in her history too, the longest was it touched her shoulder. So, the prices never beyond the 90 dollars. Wendy? They asked her to pay $120. For that piss of a shit. I never seen a hair shop could damage the hair of a customer for "keratin treatment". When we came back home, mom had to immediately wash it off, since the smell of chemical left on her hair was making her sick. Then we also noticed that some of her head skin were red, like it got burn. 3. I did a simple hair cut. I was still growing my hair long, so I just asked them a minor cutting to make it a more firmer. Then, I showed them a picture of this "hime cut style" that has specific guiding lines for my side hairs. Mine took 10 minutes. Result..? The each strands of hime cut lines are not even in a correct length. For hime cuts, there are side bang cuts that supposed to follow the chin line to cover. This did not. In the end, I had to take out my professional hair cutting scissor that I use to cut my wigs, and actually trimmed my hair by myself. They even ask $45 dollars for my hair cut too. Wow. I am not f-ing returning to this place. EVER. AGAIN. Also I would tell everyone I know that how horrible this place is. They didn't even care to ask a customer if they wanted to have a shampoo service (which it is included!). I needed a shampoo as well, the stylist cut my hair didn't even bother to ask. Nor she offered me one. This left me a very strong negative customer care service experience for Windy hair salon. I mean, you can feel if stylist do care about you or not. This was the one place that strongly given me the feeling of stylist that would not give a shit about you. I tell you, avoid this garbage place!!!! read more

Two great haircuts, one REALLY REALLY Bad haircut. I've been going to Windy for regular man's haircut and perm twice. The perms were... Okay. The curls didn't hold their shape for a long period of time and faded soon after the treatment. My hair also go incredibly dry. The style did look great for a week or two. TODAY WAS MY LAST HAIRCUT FROM HER. As you will see in the photo, she cut my hair in about 15 minutes and left me with an incredibly poor "fade" and no trim at the top. When I mentioned to her of the dissatisfaction of the cut, she grew upset and explained to me how it was indeed a good haircut and similar to the photo i had shown her before. As the customer, i disagreed, but she did not believe me. She seemed frustrated with me and instead of accepting her offer to fade it more and possibly leave it worse, i had to excuse myself to another barber shop nearby where the barber couldn't believe the poor job that had been performed. I was still charged for the haircut at windy's. The place where I went to get it fixed felt so bad for the terrible haircut i walked in with that they didn't charge me on the condition that I return. read more

My gosh. I will never go to this salon again. I gave the hair stylist a video of a girl that had face framing bangs with soft layers. I explained that to another hair stylist who then translated it to my hair stylist. While cutting my hair, she did a lot of big motions (think hair pulling and a lot of other dramatic movements) and tons of cutting, and in the end she thinned my hair SO much. I thought it looked decent because she had ironed my hair. However, when I got home and washed my hair, I realized how terrible the cut was. Multiple people even said it was shoddy work because of how uneven the cut is, and how ridiculously thin and wonky my hair became. I'm not from Austin. I'm actually residing in McAllen, about 5 hours away from Austin. I've always been on the hunt for a hair stylist who can cut my hair the way I want it to. While no hair stylist is perfect, Windy definitely came close! I showed her a picture and she cut my hair almost very similarly to the picture I showed her. Definitely much much better than the last haircut I got. She also colored my hair (I let her choose the color, but gave her a description of what I wanted) and the color came out perfectly. My first time to see Windy at her salon today. I have been looking for a hairdresser who knows how to cut asian hair properly without breaking a bank in Austin. Btw, her salon is inside the mall shared with 99 Ranch and 101 Haus. When I got there, the salon door was locked. I called the number found at Yelp and she picked up and said she'll opened the door. Once inside, I tried to explain what I need to be done in English but Windy already examine my hair and said ,"yeah I think you need a trim here and here". And she started to wet my hair and cut them. She did a great job and I really like my hair cut. Definitely would be back! My expectations were exceeded. I have bleached, dyed, and overly processed my hair. So going in I knew my hair was damaged, but I was really hoping to get a perm. They ended up having to cut all the damaged parts and give me a layered haircut. Which I loved because now my hair felt very light. At first because of how damaged my hair was the perm would come out wavy. Which I didn't mind, since I've had straight hair I was really looking to get some volume and texture. I didn't mind waves as it was better than nothing. After the perm was done. WOW! It turned out AMAZING. Better than anticipated. It's so beautiful and looks natural.
