Our guide was VERY familiar to the family that owns and runs the winery and everyone was really friendly. When our tasting started I expected 2-3 tastes, but we ended up sampling seven different wines, pairing a couple with some dried fruit or chocolate. We were also given the opportunity to taste their olive oil...and I wish we could have brought a barrel home with us. We tried their rosé, white, red, reserve, and three of their ports - white, Ruby and tawny. I wish I could have brought back all seven bottles, but we went with the white Port and the white. The white will be nice, ice cold, on my patio this summer with some fruit and dried meat on the charcuterie board.

The product was very different from the other wines we tasted during that day. I particularly loved their white wine which has enough volume to be paired with meat ! Great for all white wine lovers !! I ended up leaving with a bottle of their 2013 vintage port. Also interesting to note that all their vintage ports are the same price no matter the year produced. Strongly recommend this winery !

The wine tasting was also a lot of fun. The view of the river from the outside of this Quinta is spectacular.

Thanks for opening up my taste buds to good white port and three cheers for the beautiful views. Loved learning the history and science of port production and sitting down for a tasting with our small group was a relaxing way to start the day. Only wish was that we had more time to explore this and other little towns, as I am sure there are places to grab a bite to eat, but glad we had time on a boat on the river.

They set up lunch for us in the wine cellar. It was such a beautiful space, the walls were lined with oak barrels and there was some cool art at the far side. The table was set so perfectly with a couple of bottles of wine, a charcuterie board full of different cheeses and meats, and a very tasty fruit salad. They thought of everything, even having a heater under the table. We had the entire cellar to ourselves, just the three of us. After lunch, we did a tasting and tour of the winery with a group. The day couldn't have been more perfect and I had an amazing experience here!

It even smells heavenly with the orange blossoms and rosemary all around the property. Had dinner both nights at the hotel as it was delicious, affordable for the area (which generally has considerably more expensive restaurants) and easy. Kids enjoyed the bar menu to have an earlier night of it (plenty of options for lighter dinners in the bar if you don't wish to eat heavy or late) and we loved our premium wine pairings with dinner. They also have an honor bar with all of their fabulous wines and some spirits for mixing, which was a nice touch. The breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. Wish it would start a little earlier (7? 730? would be great, but I believe it started at 8) but other than that, zero complaints. Our stay included a tour and tasting, which was truly educational for all. Our guide was the sommelier of the hotel and she also poured the wines at dinner. Our stay at the Quinta was a true highlight of our trip. I highly recommend it.

Franciscco de Monténégro have us a great tour and explained the history of his family that took over the winery. They produce great wines that do well locally and in the export market! Their late harvest desert wine is absolutely amazing! And is a close as it gets to a Château d'Yquem, a sweet Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc white wine from the AOC Sauternes Premier Cru Superieur produced by Château d'Yquem. This one does not break the bank!!!! There is a lot to love here!!!

We had a cursory winery tour with a group of around 10 people-all Portuguese except my wife and I. It was your basic tour, walking through the winery, looking at machinery, followed by a visit to their little museum (shrine to the olden days) assembled by the winery matriarch. Afterwards, we sat outside the nice wine shop overlooking the river with amazing view and tried three wines-one white, 1 red and 1 port-nothing special to my palet. What IS SPECIAL are the amazing views from the property and the wonderful restaurant Skip the winery and tasting and book in advance a table for lunch. Depending on the menu you can order a wine flight to accompany your lunch-this way you can taste the wines while skipping the highly mechanized and uninteresting winery. I booked the tour to the this winery because it was recommended by our hotel (24€ pp) . We got there 10 mins before the tour. Parking was right at the entrance and plenty of space to park. Next we headed to the wine shed for our checkin. Then we waiting for our tour to begin. The tour guide was super knowledgeable and explained us the details the difference between port and wine and walked us through the different stages of wine making! The last but not least was tasting the wines and I have to say that QDP went all out on this. We have tasted some of their finest selection and all 5 were phenomenal. We eneded up buying 20 year aged Port and 40year aged port. After visiting here we came to know that this is also a hotel. Next time I am definitely staying there .
