Being a Chico local, I remember being shocked when I realized the building Wine Time was located in was in an old barn. Tate barn use to be a sports equipment place back in the early 90s and it was old and tired looking then. Wine Time has done wonders to clean up and modernize the location. The food is high quality but don't go expecting dinner. This is a wine bar and the food is meant to compliment the wine not replace a meal (unless you are like me and just order half the menu). The staff is polite and the ownership is always there to ensure every customer is taken care of. Its great to see a concept like this 1) north of town away from the downtown area 2) exist in Chico 3) be done without the total snobbery that dogs many of the wine bars I have been to. Went to eat at wine time due to word of mouth. Good decor, laid back enviroment, friendly wait staff. Plates are small but food presentation and taste are excellent. Food pairs well with glass of wine and conversation. Gets five stars because they got the pricing right for chico... not to expensive, finger foods and small entrees are under $10. Wine is reasonably priced with most bottles under $20. We had a group of 4, had 4 dishes, two 6oz pours, four 2oz pours and total bill was under $70. Will be returning again. read more

The selection of food was interesting and most of the things we tried were very tasty. The wine selection was interesting although I thought their blush selection was anemic and I don't know that a temperallio falls in that category. I think the worst I can say is that the service was uneven. Apparently our server went on break but we didn't know. Also, the goat cheese balls were fantastic and the server (not ours) that brought them to the table told us we would probably need more bread or crackers, which we did. But then why charge extra for it? Seemed weird. Why not include it in the price and then the customer isn't surprised when they get the bill. We have been to Chico many times and I wish we had known about this from the beginning. The ambiance is wonderful. The outdoor patio is beautiful with a charming little garden. We ordered 4 appetizers which was a perfect amount for 3 people. Thier baked brie with carmelized onions was amazing. Large wine list with varying prices. We were very pleased with our selection and the wait staff were knowledgeable and able to make recommendations. We cannot wait to go back and try some of the other food. read more

We have been to this place twice this week, once just for wine and then again tonight for wine and small plates! Wine selection is good, local and Napa area wines is week. Food was excellent but a bit slow coming out; fortunately we had time to enjoy talking with the owners and other patrons. The building is beautiful and they had quite a crowd despite just word of mouth advertising. Yummy Spanish Chorizo flatbread and Not Garlic Bread bites. Citrus salad was refreshing. I like that you can get a 2 oz. taste of many wines. They also have Guiness and Sierra Nevada Summerfest for the non wine drinkers. We will definitely return, with friends., read more

Went here for the first time last week and truly loved it. It had been a hot day, so we sat indoors - but they have a nice patio with seating as well. They've got a great set up, with small appetizer plates that can be served for 2 or 4 - and the same applies to the wines - you can get either 2 or 4oz. The server was well informed about the food and the wine. Everything was delicious! Great flavors - I think they could use a little live music (guitar?) but that would be my only suggestion. This would also be great to go with a group of friends - I noticed that seemed to be the majority of diners. Fairly reasonable, enjoyable afternoon/evening. If you're really hungry though - this may not work for you - think of it as a tapas (appetizer) style place. read more

Love the look of this place. It's beautiful on the outside and even better on the inside. The wine selection here is nice, and they even have a few beers in case you don't feel like having wine. You can order a couple different size ounces of the wine to either try it out or enjoy a full glass, which I appreciate. Their food is very good. I really like their Rocket flatbread, which seems to change seasonally. I tried it with peaches, balsamic, and arugula which was great. Their garlic bread and puffed pastry baked brie are also both favorites for me. Unfortunately, they seem to run out of the menu items somewhat regularly, or at least it seems that way when I've been there. Also, after a certain time they limit what items you can order. If they could change those two things, and maybe add a few more items to the menu, it would definitely deserve 5 stars. read more

Wine time has been consistently good. Nice selection of wines, good food to pair. The flat breads are great. I'm still not convinced the 2oz tasting pours are worth it. Most are like a dollar less than the glass or close to it. The one thing that is inconsistent, and not terrible but totally fixable is service. I've had great service here and mediocre bordering on bad service. Last time the really great server was covering for our not as good server. Anyway, you get about what you expect. Came here for the first time Saturday night. One of our friens was playing in a band there and invited us to come and check out the place. They have an extensive wine list and like the fact that you can order either a 2 oz glass or a 6 oz glass. So I tried a new wine for me in a 2 oz. I told the waitress what I usually drink and she gave me a recommendation that ended up being very good. The food is good too. They are small plates and made for sharing. So we tried the jerk chicken and the steak pinwheels. Both were excellent but just a bit pricey for what you get. And they do serve beer too. Which is great for my husband. He would rather have beer than wine. And of course the music snid ambiance was good also. I would have given it a five star if they lowered their price a bit. We did have a fun time though. Wine Time is a great place to go to escape and relax. The atmosphere is amazing and it feels like you are out in wine country and not in Chico at all. The only reason I cannot give them five stars is because of the service. My girlfriends and I went there last Saturday evening and there were about 15 people there, but for some reason it took a ridiculously long time for us to get our wine, our appetizers and our desserts. We spent most of the evening waiting and when a glass of wine or food item did come to the table, it was only one persons order. My friend had her food for a good 12 minutes before someone else's arrived and it went on like that for the whole evening. I feel like orders should be brought out together. Not sure if they were short staffed, but I love the scenery so much that I am more than willing to give them another shot. read more

I almost hesitate to write this review, because honestly I wish they would remain a hidden gem that I can get a table at when I want to without a huge wait. But I can't resist, this is by far my new favorite place to go in Chico. Of course, I love wine, but I also like to eat. Most of the places in Chico to get a good glass of wine only serve things with MEAT. And I'm a sweet little vegetarian who prefers to eat mostly vegan. Where does a human like me go in this town? Red tavern? Nope. Fifth street? Haha, nuh uh. Leons? Maybe sometimes, but what if I don't want a big meal!? Not to fear fellow veggie eaters, Wine Time is here! We eat out at nice restaurants a lot, and this is some of the yummiest food in Chico. Small plates, easily shared, and tons of delicious and healthy veggie options. The anti-meatballs are AMAZING!! But so is everything else on the menu, small plates schmall shplates, I can get my grub on so hard here I'm leaving with a full belly no doubt! Hats off to the chef. But it's not just the wine and food that make this place so great, the owner and staff are wonderful as well. They are so sweet and super accommodating, I would go back to a place with people like that even if the food was so-so! One time my credit card was lost there, it's a long slightly bizarre story, but the gist is that they eventually found it for me, were genuinely concerned it had been lost in the first place, and then gave me a gift certificate for a free glass of wine on my next visit.
