I got the lo mein and it came with a side of fried rice and egg roll. The lo mein looked like spaghetti noodles with the veggies on top and lacked flavor. I had to cover it with soy sauce. The fried rice was good. The egg roll had shrimp in it, which we don't eat and didn't realize until we broke it open that it has shrimp. FUN FACT: 43 years ago this was a Greek Restaurant where I held very first job - dishwasher for about $2.25/hr). I got the boneless almond chicken and pepper steak. Taste was good, egg roll was good, light on the rice, not nearly enough. Also, is this is where only three stars come in, it seems the pepper steak is made with chicken not beef, either that or they screwed up, either way I didn't appreciate the chicken pepper steak. A superb Chinese restaurant in the Sterling Heights area! Hidden right off of 19 and Schoenherr, in an empty shopping center, Wing Lee hits the spot when you're craving good Chinese cuisine. Years ago I remember going to a Chinese restaurant in the Sterling Heights area with my family. I remember the food was delicious and the decor was different. Years go by and I somehow was never able to find the restaurant again. If this was an episode of How I Met Your Mother, it was the equivalent of Marshall looking around all of New York City to find his beloved burger that he tried years prior. Fast forward a bit and I meet a guy who lives in the Sterling Heights area who raves about Wing Lee. Not thinking of it and being a lover of Chinese, I say let's go. What a surprise to know I was at the same place I was years prior! The boyfriend and I shared won ton soup and a combination order or Sesame Chicken. The soup was hot and fresh, with fresh wontons. The chicken wasn't as spicy as I expected, but still really delicious and filling! The egg roll and veggies were a nice touch and we even had enough food for leftovers! Can't wait to come back again. Great Chinese food. I usually cant stop eating until I realized how stuffed & satisfied I am. For over 30 years I have given this place my business. Both when I was young and living with my parents and now with my own family. As sad as it is to say, they have gone down hill. Recently they have updated the inside but nothing was done with regards to the food/menu. I think what really has me the most upset is the lack of concern for what they are producing. Three out of the last five times we have ordered carry out, either through the site or over the phone, they have either lost the order or forgotten items. I don't just mean forgetting the fortune cookies but forgetting to put the honey walnut sauce on the shrimp or forgetting the two large wonton soups. The woman who works the front desk can't be bothered with putting down her cell phone to even look at you. If she was doing her job and checking the orders many of these issues would not leave the restaurant. Like many, everyone in our family has their favorite dish. If one of us thought they changed the recipe it wouldn't be an issue but when all of your dishes begin to lack flavor and quality, there is a bigger issue taking place. The honey walnut shrimp is watery with no flavor to the sauce. The chicken used for the various dishes has become chewy and laden with pieces of fat. Even the wonton soup only has half the noodles it once had. Yet, the prices have gone up. Sadly, last night, they lost our order....again. On top of it all, they charged us for everything but forgot two items.....again. We have had enough. All of our business will now be given to Ping On on Garfield and Canal Rd. Huge portions and, even though it is out of the way, the quality of the food is always spot on and they take care in how they treat their customers. I think frozen chineese would have been more satisfying. Secondly, the lady who took my order refused to substitute a crab rangoon for the eggroll that came with my combination (I asked because of the multiple poor ratings their eggrolls received here on Yelp). I'm paying $10 for a combo and you can't substitute one cheapie for another? Ok. So customer service sucks. As for the food; General Tsao Chicken- Soggy. I also ordered it extra spicy and it was not even mildly spiced. The peices of chicken were too large. The sauce likely came from a bottle or can. It's always difficult to find a consistent Chinese restaurant that's close to the house. I've tried a number in the area and most are just OK. Not terrible but not great. I guess that's why Pei Wei and P.F. Changs are popular. They might not be the best or most authentic chinese restaurants but they are relatively consistent and better than average. I was hopeful that Wing Lee would break the mold of average local chinese fare. Unfortunately there isn't a lot to like here. We ordered Chicken LoMein and Chicken with Peapods. We ended up with Chow instead of Lo. When we called and they didn't offer to remake the dish they only offered to boil us some LoMein noodles that we could mix in with the Chow Mein. Now I know the dishes aren't that different but I just thought that was bad form. To make matters worse the food was pretty terrible in general. The sauce was clumpy and slimy, just way over starched. The chicken was a bit narly and the peapods were over cooked and soggy. The egg roll was no better. This was also way over cooked. There was almost nothing identifiable on the inside. The bean sprouts were so deflated they looked like corn silk or something. Needless to say this is one restaurant I would recommend avoiding. read more

Great local gem. On the corner of 19 & Schoenherr, behind 7-11. Small, intimate setting if you want to eat there. Great for take out. Portions are generous and prices are very reasonable. I love the sizzling rice soup, it is brothy and loaded with fresh chicken, shrimp and vegetables. My other favorite is the Wing Lee Special. There is a smokey-ness to the flavor and there is a nice selection of meats and vegetables. read more
