A quirky unique ice cream shop in Chinatown with different flavors run by owner/employee. Hours vary and special tastes change. Tried the firecracker, thai basil sorbet and cookie dough. All were unique and good! Great music!!!

If you're wanting good, non-traditional ice cream flavors -- you'll want to try Wing in Chinatown. Near the corner of Maunakea and Pauahi, this hole-in-the-wall storefront serves limited run dairy and non-dairy flavors. If you're having a hard time deciding what you want to try, I suggest getting the flight for $9 (as of Feb. 2026). Be warned, they don't give samples but the people behind the counter will usually give you a good idea of whether or not you'll like it or not.

Had to get out of the heat and decided to check out Wing Shave ice & ice cream on Maunakea street, but the entrance is on Pauahi street, so it is located on the corner of Maunakea & Pauahi street. Heading down to the ocean on Maunakea it is located on the left side of the street on Pauahi st. This is a small shop with about seating for 7-8 customers. They have lots of different homemade flavors not what you would find in a regular ice cream parlor! Sort No Samples! I tried the Peaches & Cream which was okay the flavor of the peach did not stand out it was more like a vanilla ice cream than peaches. My wife tried belly button is was Hokkaido Haskcup berries and Hokkaido ice cream, she really enjoyed it. We went at night so we found street parking, but also on the side of the building they have public paid parking.

Amazing as always. You just gotta come try this place for yourself. They grated fresh nutmeg on top of the Eggnog. The guy was nice and the vibe is chill.

I LOVE Wing ice cream. They always have such unique and inventive flavors. A few standouts to me have been: ginger+peanut+chili, tom kha, sage+chocolate chip, watermelon+shiso sorbet, pineapple+Thai basil sorbet... This is culinary genius!!! I'm obsessed. They update their flavors periodically, and it definitely keeps me coming back. The shop vibes/ambiance totally match the flavors in funness and whimsy. The art on the walls, the hand-drawn flavor signs, the Godzilla chalk drawing by the front door, the flavor idea board... It's such a great vibe. If you're not as into the unusual flavors, they also have classics, like chocolate, vanilla, or black sesame, and some fun-but-not-too-crazy flavors like chocolate+cherry, matcha+oreo, kinako, etc. There's really something for everyone here! I haven't tried their shave ice yet but am excited to one day. They also always have dairy-free options for the lactose intolerant folks, and they even have over-the-counter dairy relief too. Truly thoughtful. One thing to note is that the shop hours are not always exact - they do have a little note about that on their front window. It's a small business run mostly by one person, so they're not always able to keep the same hours consistently.

I love Wing Ice Cream shop! Their Thai basil flavor is so unique and refreshing, and is definitely my go to from this place. They have a lot of unique flavors that I would love to try one day, but for now, I'm sticking to the Thai Basil! There's not a lot of seating inside, but I love the charm of this shop. There's lots of cool artwork and decor within.

Located in Chinatown area, street parking only. The store was very small and have people waiting in line at busy time. It's a local owner shop. Friendly staff and reasonable price. They have some interesting flavors. Check their IG for the updates. Overall their icecream is pretty good, not over sweetened. I have tried their Blue Hawaii (Vanilla & Haupia), Chocolate, Honeydew, Irish Coffee, Black Sesame and Line-Orange Sorbet. Chocolate and Irish Coffee are my favorites. If you pass by Chinatown, please support this local owned shop.

CODY stopped by on a Saturday night CODY ordered scoop of chocolate CODY ice cream taste was just okay, but worse, it was crystallized CODY ice cream had a grainy, crystallized texture, probably due to improper storage - a cardinal sin. CODY counter person looked like he didn't want to be there CODY may return, to try hopefully properly stored, ice cream

My friend first introduced me to this cozy artisan ice cream shop that serves homemade ice cream (dairy and non-dairy) that are uniquely flavored and named, plus shave ice. Today, I picked a keiki-sized yummy, creamy flavor called "Brie Pre-Peared" with a lovely Brie flavor paired with carmelized pears - get it? Such a cute name! Love it! You must check this place out! You can taste how much care goes into each scoop!

Late night cravings and my coworkers and I made it at 8:55 right before closing. The workers were great and accommodated us despite the last minute run in. I wanted the matcha Oreo and sadly my friend got the last of it. The flavors are unique and quirky and no it might not be the best place for picky palates but I loved seeing these cool flavors. It's a grab and go spot. I'd come back with my hubby to try some other flavors.

Wing Ice Cream in chinatown is an OG ice cream parlor with an ever rotating selection of classic and unique ice cream flavors. You can get a keiki, single, double or triple scoops or a flight of different flavors if you're super indecisive, and since they don't do samples, you're gonna have to trust your gut with the flavors that are calling out to you We got the blueberry lavender and "14-up" which was a combination of lemon lime, kafir lime and lemongrass, which were both SO strong, velvety, smooth and rich. the kinako and black sesame flavors that we got were dairy-free which i loved because you wouldn't be able to tell, based on how creamy it was. They even have dairy pills if you're lactose intolerant but still wanna enjoy the dairy ice creams! The service by Kyro was fantastic and since the flavors are always rotating, you can always try something new and different!

Not only does Wing's Shave Ice & Ice Cream have some of the best ice cream I've ever tasted on the island, but it also has some of the most creative flavors I've come across--ever! Their menu is a constantly changing masterpiece, full of delicious and unexpected flavors. The Ice Cream Flight ($8.50) As someone who wants to try it all, the ice cream flight was a dream come true! Three generous scoops of ice cream, and each one brought something completely different to the table. Here's what I tried: Yuzu Apple Sorbet: The Yuzu was bold, but pleasantly delicate and refreshing! I didn't pick up a lot of apple, but honestly, no complaints--it's like a pure yuzu delight! Chocolate Avocado: ORich chocolate with a creamy avocado twist! The avocado makes it extra smooth, and there's this subtle, but pleasant avocado aftertaste. Salted Caramel: I'm not usually a caramel gal, but Wing's salted caramel is the exception! It has that perfect burnt-sugar depth without being overly sweet. Can't wait to see what flavors they'll have next!

Wing Shave Ice & Ice Cream is one of those hidden gems you almost don't want to share--because once word gets out, the line's only going to get longer. I had the shikwasa cardamom sorbet and pandan combo and honestly? A game-changer. Tart, citrusy brightness from the shikwasa perfectly balanced with the mellow, almost nutty sweetness of pandan. It reminded me of my favorite flavors at Chinatown Ice Cream Factory back in NYC--but with a distinct local twist that feels right at home here in Honolulu. Their kurosawa flavor (vaniller ice cream with strawberry swirl) is also a standout--rich, earthy, and not overly sweet. It's the kind of flavor you don't see everywhere, and it's done really well here. Worth noting: they don't do free samples, which I actually respect. Everything is made in small batches, so you know what you're getting is intentional and fresh. If you're dairy-sensitive, they offer 25-cent lactase pills at the counter, which is a thoughtful touch I haven't seen anywhere else. There's a chill vibe thanks to their playlist, but seating is very limited--just a couple of spots, so it's more of a grab-and-go situation or a casual standing-around-and-enjoying-your-scoop kind of place.

There was tons of parking out front so we were glad! It's a cute little shop and I really like the door to go inside. We ordered the strawberry and salted lemon shaved ice #4 and it came with pineapple and strawberries. We also added ice cream so the total came out to $19 and something cents. Without ice cream would've been around $15. I think it was worth it! It was our first time trying and I'm not sure if it was the owner but I feel like she recognizes her customers because she asked if it's our first time since she's never seen us before hahaha!! The person taking our order was so sweet she explained everything to us and was easy to understand. 10/10 would come back and recommend. I wanna try the pickled mango so I'll definitely be back!

The interior is pretty tight, with a narrow walkway between the seating areas. When we visited, almost every seat was occupied, so we had to make our way to the far end and squeeze past other customers to find a place to sit. There was also an area marked for employees only (at what would have been the front door) and boxes were stacked in front of part of the bench seating, which made the space feel a bit cramped. The menu is very limited, with eight bowl options, all priced at $14.99 and no sign of a standard type shave ice. The portion is large and includes fresh fruit, but there is not a children's size or a smaller, lower-priced option available. If you are looking for a traditional shave ice shop with lots of syrup flavors and the ability to customize a simple shave ice, this probably is not the place for you. We ordered what was essentially the plainest shave ice available, just ice with two flavors, and it was still charged at the same price as the specialty bowls. There was not an option for a basic shave ice on the menu, we had to ask for that (since my son doesn't eat all the extra stuff and only wanted plain strawberry banana flavors) and the flavor selection was fairly limited overall. They were also out of a couple of flavors during our visit, despite already having a relatively small selection (around a dozen total). I also found the ice was not as finely shaved as I expected, and the flavors left an aftertaste. While the portions are bigger (served in a bowl), the price felt high for something that melts quickly. Adding ice cream costs extra, bringing the total close to $20 for a single shave ice. One small thing that stood out to me is that they refer to it as "shaved ice" rather than "shave ice." Visitors may not notice the difference, but in Hawaii, "shave ice" is the traditional local term and part of the culture, so the wording felt a little out of place - and definitely didn't seem local (Everyone we saw seemed to be either a tourist or military). That said, the employees were genuinely friendly, and the shop itself is cute. It may appeal to those looking for specialty fruit-forward creations, but it was not quite what I was expecting from a traditional Hawaii-style shave ice experience, especially given the price point. I did like that they had a little treasure chest for kids to pick a surprise! It was small bubbles but was a fun surprise for my son!
