I used JC Tolland for roofing and gutters on my house. Any project has its ups and downs and…read moreunexpected additional costs; however, communication is key. I have not recieved the final bill, but the estimate was way off. I appreciate Zach's knowledge and initial communication. He was extremely professional and responsive. The roofing team, in the process, let me know that I had a choice to caulk or to add trim to edge the roof and the siding to ensure it wouldn't leak because flashing wouldn't work. They said caulking goes bad sooner than this trim, so I chose the trim. It was not communicated how much extra this would be. It is now costing me an extra $400 (after I talked them down from an additional $800) to have it painted - and the trim was caulked anyway. So, how was this a better option? A clear way to upsell without all the information. I would have appreciated knowing the trim was going to be an additional $800 when the issue initially arose. This was the initial cost quoted to me for painting this newly added trim after it was already up. For this additional cost, it isnt very pretty. Caulking would have looked cleaner. I still don't know what the additional plywood has added to the final total, though they were up front that it is in addition to the estimate originally given. I am bracing myself for this. The actual roof - the shingles - looks nice. My poppies were trampled in the front yard after finally getting them to grow - I they thought they were weeds and they could walk on them... they were green and leafy and there was a path right next to them. Just added salt to the wound.
