TL;DR/The Short Version: Large, but busy and crowded store. More luxury brands here than other downtown Winners locations. The Longer Version: This location is inside Place Montreal Trust. It's on the most lower level of the mall. Same level as the Food Court. It has the largest selection of luxury brands of all the downtown-ish Winners (more than the Alexis Nihon, Complexe Desjardins and Peel Winners). I spotted an Yves Saint Laurent bag for $2700. They had Gucci shoes, sunglasses and hats. Some Chloe, Ferragamo, and Valentino bags too. And other brands. Their luxury brands are locked up in glass displays so you have to get a staff member to unlock it for you. The contemporary brands like Coach, Michael Kors, Ted Baker, and Kate Spade are out and about for you to handle on your own. This location is large and has a jewelry section and children's clothing and shoes as well (these sections are the first to be cut in the smaller "urban concept" stores, and even though this location is urban it's definitely a full-sized store). It has the usual women's and men's clothing and shoes and housewares. It's also always busy and crowded. So my feelings about it are mixed. I love the size and large selection but I hate the crowds. I always enjoy stopping in here when in MTL. I found a great meditation cushion here a few years ago that I still use and has maintained itself in excellent condition. This visit I purchased a nice winter hat that was made in Canada. It can get busy here with lots of folks in the aisles and long lines, but on the afternoon we visited, it was not particularly busy. They have a good selection of clothing, shoes, etc. but there's very little security and the clothes racks are too close together causing narrow aisles. The majority of those who shop there seem poor people looking for designer clothing at low prices. They walk into other shoppers, never say excuse me, and have a bad attitude. They also tried to knock my purse off my shoulder or started touching it. So lots of thieves in there. I was there recently and it was a horrid shopping experience. I reported it to a salesclerk and I left. They never did much about it. So they don't care. It's bad management. Some of the creeps shopping there fun against other shoppers when they walk by. Makes you wonder if it's deliberate or not. They act like animals. Avoid this store. There are many other stores in the mall. It may cost a bit more but less aggravation. Typo: Some of the creeps shopping there rub against other shoppers when they walk by. A lot of the women shopping there look warped. I shop for women's items. Some of them try to ram their shopping carts into other women, or they're pickpockets. They'll stand close to you or sneak up behind you and try to put their hands in your pockets. This is a larger location and has more items but they are always scattered around the store. Half the items are scattered and left in boxes half ripped open. The staff are pretty rude at this location also, which Is why I had stopped shopping Frequently at this location. The selection isn't great and I don't like the variety. It does have a lot of high end items for sale like bags, shoes and clothing but to be honest it's overpriced as compared to a boutique or online through a reseller like beyond the rack. Not the best. Practically all of my friends either really love Winners or really hate it. I used to be a member of the later group but then I switched over to the former and I'll tell why and how. I too used to be one of those shoppers who would see the long racks and be disheartened. Nothing was laid out in an orderly way unlike other department stores or boutiques. So how are you supposed to find anything in this chaos? Here's the strategy. All of Winner's racks are labelled according to size, TP (tres petit), S(mall), M(edium),L(arge), XL(arge). Each section has a different colored hanger Then there is a different aisle for different pieces of clothing: Dresses, Jeans, Blouses, Short Sleeve Tops, Sweaters, Long Sleeve Tops, Jackets, Pants (slacks), Exercise Tops, Exercise Bottoms, Juniors, etc. Say you're looking for a sweater. All you need to do is look for the 'Sweaters" aisle and figure out if you you are a S,M or L and go to the appropriate size area. And you just look at one after another. It usually takes less that 5 minutes to see if there's anything there that might catch your interest. Same strategy works for shoes, boots and undergarments. I've found designer jeans, cashmere sweaters, leather boots, silk scarves, great summer dresses, leather purses, shoes, heels and sandals over the years at very reasonable prices. The trick to Winners is that you have to stop in often. While I find the quality of the clothing has sort of declined in recent years, I do find that each Winners seems to have a better selection at one thing over others. Atwater: Best Clothing, Purses and Shoes McGill: Purses, men's clothing, household stuff Decarie: Exercise clothing, yoga gear Lasalle: Dresses Marche Central: Purses, Dresses, Shoes Place Versailles - Best for everything It's not just clothes. Their bed and linen section carries bed sheets with 300+ up to 1200 thread counts at very reasonable prices. Home decor sections also has funky glassware, vases, bamboo shower caddies, vintage styled tool boxes, home gardening sets, and many more. Surprisingly, their food section also has hit or miss stuff like gluten-free flour, organic sugar, basil oil. I've also picked up fantastic recipe books here too. Coming from Seattle, I'm very accustomed to the likes of TJ Maxx, Ross and Marshall's. Personally, these types of stores are not for me. They're all hit-or-miss: you could hit pay dirt and find all that you need (and more) within 10 minutes, or you can spend 2 hours trying on every piece of clothing in the whole store and not find a thing. When I was in my teens and 20s, I loved these stores, as I often found treasures for a steal. And even if I didn't, the quest was part of the fun. Nowadays, my time is more valuable and I can't spare the extra hour or more to find items that may or not be available there. All that said, my family had fun exploring this store during a recent extended visit to Montreal. My mother often comes here and gets basics (socks, black t-shirts, etc.), as well as at the Winners at Decarie Square. I brought my two teen daughters to this store in Alexis Nihon Plaza and one kid in particular had a blast here. Again, it's the whole "the thrill of the hunt" mentality. And treasures were indeed found: hip lunch boxes for school, decent quality earbuds for the iPod, a few trendy tops, a scarf, other unmentionables. All at a good price. And I liked how the store was well-organized, clean and easy to navigate. read more

Winner's is a big discount store which claims to carry big labels for discounted prices. They carry all sorts of clothing, accessories, shoes and so on. The selection tends to vary from store to store but since this particular location is downtown you will generally find some big name brands including some very high end ones. The line-ups here can be long but they usually have plenty of cashes open so they do move along. The trick to scoring a deal at Winner's is to have something in mind when you walk into the store otherwise you will simply be overwhelmed by all the merchandise. I must admit though that over the years the deals have become fewer and further between. Another thing to consider is that if you don't find your size in the section you expect it to be in look elsewhere because items get mixed up all the time so it's possible they have it but it is hiding somewhere else. read more

This Winners is connected to downtown Montreal's underground city and is within Place Montreal Trust on the food court level. I went here recently to purchase some sox for a Yelp Elite event (WeWork + Yelp Holiday Party) which were to be used as a donation for the homeless. I went to Winners the day before Black Friday at about 3:00pm and I found the place to be very busy. It was busier than I expected since it was after lunch and before 5:00pm. I picked up a bundle/package of 3 pairs of sox and went to the cash register. There were many people in line at the cash register but the line seemed to go fast. There is one line and everyone lines there. Once one of the cashiers are free, the numbered light on the cash register will flash and a French message will indicate which cash register to go to. I believe that at the time that I went, there were roughly 7 cashiers on duty and because there is only one line and people aren't picking which cashier to wait for, the line moved relatively fast. I was satisfied with how my purchase went and for the price that I paid for my package of sox. I don't have any major complaints but there was also nothing exceptional about them so I gave them 4 stars. read more

Love this downtown location of Winners. They have a lot of latest hair and beauty products and branded clothing but you have to be lucky to get them as they go very fast! I wish it was as organised and easier to navigate like most of the other locations; This branch experiences a lot of crowds which is not helped by the layout. It can become quite cramped and overwhelming in some of the aisles, especially the shoe aisles which are super narrow and full of people trying on shoes so it gets quite difficult to navigate around. read more

Ahh Winner's, I have a love hate relationship with these types of stores. Pro's: lot's of different brands in one spot, the thrill of finding a really great item that I would really want at full price but getting it at a price I like better. Con's: Sifting through lots and lots of stuff you don't really want or need but somehow convincing yourself you do, dealing with too many people abd long lines. I've been to quite a few different Winner's and I agree with a previous reviwer who said different locations are good for different things. I live close to this location so it is convenient for me, as far as selection, you really have to come often in hopes of finding a gem in all the garbage packed among the endless rows of clothing. I popped into Winner's last week for same reason I normally come here, with the goal of finding a particular item, I mentioned item, not items, but like always, I left with more things then I planned on getting! I needed some hangers, those velvety thin ones that clothes don't slip off of, I found a pack of 20 for 16$ which was a good deal. I decided to wander around some more and ended up leaving with a few cute tops, a pair of flipflops and Puma workout socks. I like this Winner's but i can't say I find as many amazing things as I used to find a few years ago. If you are brave enough to wade through racks and racks of items and battle hoards of greedy female hands, Winner's is worth a visit. read more

Winners is the place to go when your in the mood to go hunting for a gem. The store is essentially a sea of not so stylish items with a sprinkle of nice finds. You really need to search to find those pieces that are going to offered at a very much lower price. It seems impossible to find a pair of denim jeans that don't have crazy designs or ridiculous fades in them. Once in awhile though youl find a pair that is just normal. I especially like to look for timeless classic shoes and belts. This winners specifically also seems to be lacking in home supplies compared to many of the winners I've been to. They seem to be strictly more on the clothing side. Staff seem to be just doing their job and aren't overly friendly or rude. Located on the bottom floor of the mall, it is a nice place to tie together your shopping day and see if you can nab a few basics at a steal. read more

This was my first trip to Winners in a long time and it has really gone downhill. Stock was disorganized and overall quality was lacking. Many items were stained/ripped with no note of damage on the tags. The selection wasn't anything worth spending that amount of time sorting through when compared to the price and other shopping options. This is located in the underground mall food court. Decent lighting and layout, the men's section is quite large compared to other Winners. But they tried high end like Versace and failed, and now their selection of polo's is almost non-existent, while there are a lot of sports wear items. There is also some kitchenware and food you won't find elsewhere, as well as makeup/perfume and some kids toys. The women's section is gigantic, can't comment on it much. The lineups out the door can take a while, but they rush when it's it's closing time. read more

I'm a huge fan of Winners! There...I said it out in the open. I love this store simply for the fact that it is one of the few Winner stores in the Montreal area that sells suits at liquidation prices. I have in the past bought a 400$ suite lowered to $80! Even after the tailoring required to get it to fit just right, it was still a great savings. To find the good deals though, you almost need to go on a weekly basis. There is a large selection here of clothing for both men and women. Their mens dress shirt selection is okay - not always a decent rotation of shirts as the same design will be available for months, and the seem to get ties in different waves. Sometimes having none in stock (like at Christmas and New Years!??) but having 3-4 racks of the stuff during mid-summer. My main complaint: is be prepared to wait in line. It probably has the worst line-ups between 11am - 2pm. read more

Extra star for being in a dense urban locale, and having juuuuust enough pillows for sale to set my gal up for a good nights sleep on our road trip. We were on a long urban walk and ventured into this mall (and down to the bottom floor) to find this canadien version of Marshalls or TJ Maxx. Winners is a place you sneak in for a couple of important piece of clothing. My thing is shoes. Why there? They have large size. I where 13 and even though more and more you find what you need, I tend to go there once in a while 5-10 minutes per time to check out the new shoes arrival. I found some 180$ leather shoes (Clarks) for 80$. So basically they receive stuff from larger store like The Bay or others. It only took 8-10 times (so basically after 1 year) to find some decent shoes. read more

Not the same as "the good old days" when it first opened. Did I EVER score some higher -end stuff here at great prices! If you know your brands/names etc. you can really hit the jackpot, unfortunately, things have changed quite a bit here over the years. The pickings keep getting slimmer and the clothing looks very schlocky, I now REALLY have to look and pick over the merchandise. The stock comes in 3 times a week, so if you do find something worthwhile, grab it while you can because it will NOT be there when you come back tomorrow. The good stuff moves that fast! read more

This Winners is just unbelievable when it comes to returns. I was there today to return a set of walking sticks, still in it's packaging with the price sticker and invoice. Although there were another 8-10 identical walking sticks hanging on the wall, the cashier convened a conference of two other cashiers to investigate, BREAKING THE PACKAGING IN THE PROCESS. They did give me a refund, but now will have to sell it at a reduced price because in the zeal to investigate a $40 item, they broke it. I mentioned this to the store coordinator, i.e., that it would be faster just to go check that the identical merchandise was carried in their own store, but she said that the cashier couldn't leave the cash; however, 3 cashiers left their cashes to discuss and break the item. The cashier did not speak english, but instead of just asking me to speak french, she just smiled and nodded inappropriately. I didn't realize until 15 minutes of conversation that she did not understand a word that I was saying. read more

Winners is great and the place for shopping here's what I find here: For men: undies, socks, pyjamas, slippers, scarves, hats and jogging pants Women: socks, underwear, shoes.boots,slippers,outdoor coats, yoga and work out clothes,bathing suits Children: here you can get just about anything, but the kid's toy section is actually a really good place to buy toys and books Home: Ralph Lauren bedsheets sets (or others just make sure you keep it over 300 thread count), decorative bathroom linens and accessories, again mostly just the decorative stuff. Lots of kitchen instruments and cook wear at great prices. Decorative mirrors and wall hanging's home section is a great place to get any housewarming gifts you may need, and last but not least I love shopping here for hair care and beauty products, which can be assembled to provide a great gift to someone, at any budget. When I first encountered the Winners store in Vancouver, I didn't like it at all. Things seemed cluttered, untidy and expensive for a no-frills store. But that was because I didn't really understand then how to shop at Winners. As the previous poster says, you need to go with the right attitude and a sharp eye (similar to thrift shopping). It also helps to only shop for one type of thing at a time e.g. pants, bags, shoes etc. Now I live in Montreal and I go to Winners at the time. I'm not really that great at going through the racks yet (it takes some stamina) but so far, I've bought a couple of nice dresses, a great bag and thermal socks. Today, I just got great deals of two pairs of sandals from Clarks and Skechers. I got home and looked up their prices online, and they were still a better bargain compared to the discounted prices on the online sites e.g. Amazon, Zappos, etc. The only thing I would say is that you do have to inspect the goods carefully since there's not much QC on the condition of the merchandise. For one of the dresses I bought, I basically sorted through five or six dresses to find one where the buttons were sewed on straight. But with their return policy, I don't think it's really an issue if you do bring home something and aren't happy with it. read more
