Once you subscribe, they make it very hard to cancel. Can only cancel by phone and wait is very long.

This is the second time I have subscribed to this far left, radical, and biased newspaper. I only subscribed so my husband can see the sports section. After making many calls to a call center in India, I have had it! Will not resubscribe as this has happened twice upon subscribing. I couldn't understand why they were not drafting my banking account each month for payment after enjoying a promotion. After several calls to their call center, I was assured "my account was active and my account would be drafted that very day." No draft showing in my bank account and then once again, they stopped my digital newspaper. This is pure incompetence. Will not resubscribe to the "commie" newspaper again. Their billing department is an absolute disaster. Can't understand how this crap newspaper stays in business. Done, finished! By the way, the day a newspaper places a front page picture of Iranians mourning the loss of a brutal murderous leader instead of a picture of Iranians celebrating the eradication of pure evil, is a sad day for America. read more

Tried subscribing two different times over a 2 year period. Both times were disasters. Customer service is non-existent. Delivery in the driveway? Yeah - good luck with that. I truly am not sure how this rag is still in business. Pitiful. read more

I've always enjoyed having my morning coffee with the local newspaper, however, I expect it to be fair and balanced. The WSJ is anything, but fair and balanced. This newspaper picks and chooses by design news articles and stories that place what they don't agree in a bad light. That is NOT fair and balanced journalism. Living in High Point, among the big three Triad newspapers, the Winston-Salem Journal was the only one we did not subscribe to. One reason why was obvious: the Journal wasn't available in our zip code in High Point. In fact, I don't believe the Journal is available for delivery in Guilford County, which includes Greensboro, at all. However, the paper was still available in stores and other various places throughout the Triad and I'd read a lot of articles online, especially the ones covering Wake Forest men's basketball (I was a huge fan at one point in time and still a fan, to a lesser extent, today). In general, I always enjoyed the Journal's coverage of ACC sports and the Demon Deacons. The Journal knows the Deacs better than anyone else. Overall, I think the Greensboro News & Record did a better job featuring ACC sports, but the Journal did a nice job too. Interestingly, the Journal's TV partner is WGHP of High Point (Fox), not WXLV of Winston-Salem (ABC), yet the physical print version of the paper is not available in High Point. Also, radio station WSJS (600 AM), based in Winston, got its call sign in part from the Winston-Salem Journal: WSJ. The last S stands for Sentinel from Winston's old Twin City Sentinel paper that eventually merged into the Journal. Twin City represented the once separate cities of Winston and Salem. My coworkers and I look forward to reading our horoscopes every shift. Whether it's a one star or a five star day, we find so much joy in discussing each others paragraph for the day. It's been very disappointing to receive the paper recently and on some days find this segment missing entirely. read more

Had subscription for Sunday delivery for 2 months. No paper delivered 3 times in that time frame. Called customer service each time only to speak with someone I'm guessing is in Taiwan or Philippines. Couldn't understand what they said, because they have a really strong accent. What good is customer service if the customer can't understand what the rep is saying. No way to let anyone local know what is going on. Needless to say, I cancelled my subscription. read more

I stopped the print edition when they told me they were going up on their cost by $400 per year. I was trying their digital edition and received a nice letter today (5-10-2022) from Mr. Bob Scott, Advanced Development Director, informing me they were doubling my digital subscription price from $5.99 per month to $10.99 per month. I received a call from both the publisher and another person in charge of newspaper deliveries. They were both very nice and apologetic. I don't know that they will change their policies, but I am satisfied with their response. read more

I would NEVER recommend this paper to anyone. There is no content to it. The paper is only a few pages and they keep going up in price. We have gone not just for days without a paper but weeks and not credited and their customer service is no service at all. the days of coupons etc. are gone. My mom has been with them for years many many years and they just keep getting worse and now awful. read more

Appears in my case, they have abandoned any desire to maintain a decent level of customer service for paper delivery. Customer for 32 years; scaled back to Sunday only a few years ago. Missed me 3 weeks last month. Upon reporting, automated phone system indicated paper would be delivered. It never was and I never heard back. When I called to cancel and ask for my subscription to be refunded, I was told it would be less a processing fee. Incredible logic, 'pay us for something we will not deliver and if you want you money back we will charge you a fee'! So I guess The Winston Salem Journal has no desire to deliver the paper anymore!!!! My mother is 84 years old and has always loved reading the paper every morning!! But for the past year she never knew if the paper would arrive are not!! So now its been a week with no paper! She will call and she just gets lip service and the run around every time!! Its funny to me how we receive our mail everyday perfectly ontime! I guess the Postal Service knows how to run a business....maybe the Winston Salem Journal should take a few pointers from them!! I have contacted customer service numerous times due to missed delivery. I was promised a redelivery, which never happened. I called to register complaints and asked to be contacted by a manager, never received a call back. I called to cancel my subscription, was on hold for 10 minutes the disconnected. Can't find a way online to cancel subscription. The worst customer service ever! read more
