Well during this search I stumbled upon these absolutely stunning little cakes and I knew I would absolutely HAVE to stop in. Well my time in Munich was brief (24 hours to be exact) but I made it In to Maelu (I think I was first in line lol) and boy did they deliver. I got a cappuccino and the pistachio cake to enjoy there. Luckily they have massive umbrellas so I was still able to enjoy this breakfast outside even though it was drizzling, and I even found it to be quite a pleasant experience. It's a bakery so I don't know why I was surprised they have table service but the waitress comes right over and takes your order rather than ordering at the counter. (You DO order at the counter for take away though) Let's talk about this pistachio torte, oh my was it delicious! It has a delicious cake layer at the bottom but was topped with this succulent, I don't even know what to call it. Not like foam but it had this lovely perfect airy texture. (Obviously I'm not a baker lol so my terminology isn't the best) regardless of what it's called or how I describe it...it was amazing! I took some macarons to go because I am a macaron fiend, but I am deeply regretting not taking another torte or two. Wowza If you are in München and you want a delicious pastry or sweet you absolutely MUST make Time got Maelu. I promise you they will blow your mind! In the afternoon, I would stop by the pickle guy and buy a few of the best pickles I've ever eaten. So many choices from sweet to sour, spicy and my favorite a super sour with a spicy horseradish. I found most of the German locations that sell chocolate to be of average quality. Going by the moniker of Swiss Chocolate, I have had better "Swiss" chocolate. Not as expensive as expected there is a nice choice of items. The truffles were ok but we found the bark to be better quality and more flavorful. The staff of young ladies were very patient as we picked out our truffles and provided service with a smile. You might have to hunt this location out so it might not be worthwhile; then again most chocolatiers in Munich were not worthwhile.
