Delicious and convenient! This truck stops by occasionally by my apartment complex about once a month and I happen to eat BBQ once a month. Coincidence? I think not. My partner and I typically order the meat combo (1 or 2 depending on how hungry we are), maybe some ribs, but always cornbread. Whenever we open the box, we are always disappointed that we do not get more food for the amount we paid. However, halfway through our meal, we understand that the food potions look small but are very filling. Brisket is my all-time favorite BBQ meat. If a restaurant's brisket is garbage, the whole menu is garbage for all I care. Fortunately, Wise BBQ's brisket is on point. It is tender, flavorful and NOT dry. Note that the brisket comes shredded. The first time I had it I was confused because I was expecting sliced brisket. The flavor is all there, though, so I don't mind. Sausage is not really something I go for, but my partner loves it. I have to admit that the sausage here packs a punch with flavor and texture. However, if I were ordering for myself, I would skip the sausage and get more brisket. The ribs are sooooo pricey, perhaps because they are ridiculously huge. Picture how a European might picture the meat portions here in the States and you'll get the picture. I ordered a full rack thinking that anything less would be a tease but I could only eat one before tapping out... but maybe that's because I ate so much brisket. Mac and Cheese is pretty decent- that's coming from a girl who does not typically eat Mac and Cheese because most of the time the texture is too mushy for my liking. I eat it to cleanse my palate of all the BBQ sauce I'm inhaling but beyond that, I'd rather eat more brisket. The pinto beans are a pass for me. I am used to beans being more seasoned and flavorful, but these don't pack a punch. Skip these and allot more belly space for brisket. Cornbread is not typically something I eat but it is a must order at Wise BBQ. It's something about their cornbread not resembling the Sahara Desert or the warm honey butter that seems to run out before I'm halfway through with my cornbread. Definitely get one for yourself. You won't want to share. Clearly I am a brisket fanatic. Try it, you'll love it. But be warned that the prices are a little steep, so skip this truck if you're on a budget or if you're on a first date and don't want your date to see you cramming brisket in your face because it's too damn tasty not to. read more

The chicken was just ok except for the bbq sauce which was nice and tangy with a little heat. The mac and cheese was almost flavorless except for the small hint of maybe paprika? Had an opportunity to try this place for lunch today. There wasn't a lot of people in line so the wait wasn't so long. The truck has a giant TV that shows off their food. Does make the food look appetizing. I ordered the 2 meat combo with a sweet tea and that came out to about $30. Just keep in mind that the meat choices are hot links, chicken, brisket and pulled pork. I wished they would have offered ribs as an option. Along with the 2 meat combo, you also get 2 sides. I opted for the Cole slaw and potato salad. This is where it all went down hill. When I took the food back and opened the box, I noticed that the brisket was all chopped up and not sliced up as I had hoped. They only gave me 1 hot link. I thought to myself, this meal was way overpriced for what they give you. It was worth more like $15 than $24. The sweet tea that I had ordered turned out to be an Arnold Palmer (half tea/half lemonade). I wished the person that took my order would have disclosed that. The meat was overly salty. Especially the brisket. I was not a big fan of the chopped meat and the saltiness of it. The hot link was actually good, but a little on the salty side. I guess that's why they give you a Texas toast. The Cole slaw was a joke. It was just julienned veggies but had no taste at all. The potato salad was pretty good. It was the summer Thursday nights food truck event in Marina del Rey, in a parking lot near Mothers Beach. We got brisket and pulled pork sandwiches with two sides, no drinks for almost $45. I bit down on the pulled pork sandwich and thought I'd got a piece of the paper wrapping. But it was the meat. The sandwich had tough dark and burnt fibers throughout and was not moist. It had to be thrown away. The other foods were adequate qualtity and taste, just a restaurant price for food truck food. There's an extra charge for a take out box in a parking lot venue with no tables! How can you charge extra for take out when there's no place to "eat in"? Sad to say we won't be back. It was not the fun event it could have been. At least if we been able to sit there, we could have brought the sandwich back and gotten a replacement. Too bad for everyone. read more

One of the perks of living in a posh apartment complex is that they have guest food trucks almost every week come and serve our community. Now I never lived in BBQ country nor was raised from it (though Korean BBQ does run through my veins), I honestly wasn't expecting much from this, after seeing a previous BBQ food truck come to our complex, and it didn't really satiate or do anything for me. Wise, however, was great. I definitely enjoyed the pulled pork, and while odd, the brisket chopped was a bit different, but nevertheless, it tasted quite good. The chicken was slightly dry but still good and the links were right up my alley. The potato salad was OK, coleslaw was pretty good, and the baked Pinto beans did have a nice kick I wasn't expecting. The Mac and cheese was done right. Oh, and the cornbread, was great. One knock was the lemonade, didn't jive with me would have picked something else to drink. My friend and I couldn't stop eyeing pictures of the Mac & Meat with pulled pork, so we decided to get one of those. Wait time was relatively quick, and before we knew it, we were diving in to a 1/3 lb of tangy BBQ pulled pork and cheesy elbow macaroni! This thing was HUGE! Smothered in BBQ sauce, the pulled pork was tender and flavorful. Macaroni noodles were soft and the cheese was rich and creamy. Wise Barbecue food truck was at Pioneer high school on a Tuesday night. The week before, I had sampled barbecue from a different truck and I wanted to compare this to another LA BBQ food truck. I ordered 2 meats (Brisket, chicken) and one side (Mac n cheese) for $15. Included with my order was a side of pickles, sliced bread, plus bottled water. It sounds a little pricey for a food truck, but remember that it's barbecue, and barbecue is usually an expensive food item to begin with. After placing my order, I had to wait a little bit for them to box it. They had a little bit of a mixup where they almost forgot my brisket. Lucky for me I clarified my order and it was fixed immediately. It was a very heavy box, and my meats were package separately and wrapped in foil. I was a little disappointed to find two slices of regular bread rather than one big thick Texan bread, or even cornbread. I'm not an expert in barbecue, so perhaps this is the way Texans do it. The brisket was tasty, but I much prefer the chicken. I wasn't too fond of the Texas sauce, which seems to be more tangy then sweet. Nonetheless, a very enjoyable meal, with plenty of leftovers. The chicken was still on the bone so it was very messy, but luckily the brisket was shaved off making it easier to eat. The Mac and cheese was ok. Having just experienced a gooey, cheesy version at Urban Plates in Irvine, this was a little underwhelming. I'd like to give the ribs a try, and maybe sample a different side dish.... overall and 3 1/2 star, a better than an A-OK experience. read more

They should put more BBQ sauce on, and I also should have slathered on some more from the squeeze bottle on the side of the truck too. Waiting in line, I could only see the bright writing, red letter and yellow background (sandwiches, ribs, tacos, and sausage). We ate at this food truck when it was parked at a local brewery. Food was unremarkable and ridiculously expensive. Pulled pork sandwich was the best of the worst. It was legit tasty, came with zero sides, and cost $15. Mac-&-Meat Brisket was essentially pulled brisket (not sliced) over mac-n-cheese, surprisingly unremarkable. It tasted like nothing and cost $18. Cornbread was hard, heavy, and dry. Potato salad was ok. Sides cost $6. When I paid for beer and food with a card, no receipt was shown to me. It was auto-sent to my email. I was surprised to learn AFTER my card payment had been processed that 18% was added automatically to my bill for a tip. And the INCREASED total was THEN charged sales tax! Not cool. Can't say if this is the policy of the truck or the brewery, but they both bear some responsibility. One sandwich, one mac-&-meat entree, one cornbread side, and one potato salad side cost $58.54 after tax and tip. Remember, this is a food truck. We ate with paper plates and plastic utensils. We were at street fair and they were one of the few trucks serving food. It was almost $100 for the food pictured. I could have had a nice steak dinner in Beverly Hills for this price. This is no way to run a business over charging people at a street fair. The food was okay. Wasn't the best BBQ we have had but we were just hungry. The owner really needs better customer service and yes I do know how to run a food business. This was my ONLY option at the Riviera Country Club during the Northern Trust Open, and while the menu seemed a bit limited for my diet, I made it work! My stomach was initially talking for me when it was finally my turn to order my lunch... It asked for 2 chicken breast... However, when told that would be one pound of meat, my brain chimed in and said, I'll just take a 1/2 pound. No need to be INSANELY FULL when I have a whole day of walking around a golf course ahead of me... Plus, 1 pound of chicken would have cost me $28, WHICH IS INSANE!! Now if said chicken was the fountain of youth and I were promised to live forever, then maybe I would have done it, but no, no such promises were made! I gave the food truck my name and about 7 minutes later, my name was called and I was given succulent slices of chicken breast (no BBQ sauce) along with some broccoli slaw (they didn't have any dressing) and 2 measly slices of pickles. From the looks of it, this meal did NOT SEEM WORTH the $14 price tag, however I have to admit... This chicken was JUICY & TASTY... AF! I sat down in order to enjoy the bird, and boy did I ever. I definitely recall saying to myself: "I should have gotten the full pound." Alas, before I could say Bubba Watson, my chicken was all down the hatch! I've never eaten at a food truck before this experience and I have to say... This was some of the best chicken I've eaten before in my life... And that includes all standing restaurants (well minus Spitz but of course). If I ever see this truck around again, I would definitely consider eating at it again, however... Totally deserving of a higher rating. My brother and why picked the brisket with Mac n cheese and we had nothing but good things to say. The brisket was tender, juicy and well seasoned. The Mac was creamy soft and seasoned with just the right amount of salt. To finish it off we have the sweet sauce which all combined to make a sweet and savory dish we won't forget. Wish we had a photo but we devoured it quite fast. Hopefully they come to Wilshire again so I can try more stuff very surprised and satisfied 8.5/10! read more

Just happened upon Food truck day located at the Babies R Us parking lot in Cerritos. This was only one of at least 10 other food trucks. I did have a hankering for Texas style BBQ. A 2/3 pound of brisket with two sides (baked beans, Mac and Cheese, included two sauce styles and three large pieces of white bread, jalapeno and slices of dill pickle) was what became my shared dinner.) - cost $20 + tip. Brisket: tender, very appetizing char, sliced into manageable pieces - no knives needed! I thought both sauces were a little on the sweet side, and not as spicy as I was hoping. Beans: sweet, with a hint of hot spice. Mac & cheese: tender, rich, although not that gooey . My brisket had minimal sauce to give it an extra flavor, so if ppl wanted more they could add some. The chicken had great flavor and needed nothing extra. You could taste all the spices. So good. Now to the best part, the mac and cheese. When asked how good the mac and cheese was the owner said "he thought it was the best he made all month", and DAMN it was good. This is my experience with Wise on 6/11/21 at Lakewood mall parking lot. I'm rating them highbecause I believe my experience with the food fell short and don't want to ding them. I ordered the 2 jumbo ribs with coleslaw and potatoe salad. I also got a Brisket sandwich. The meat for both items were very bland. I was surprised because the presentation looked amazing. I had to lather up my Brisket with BBQ sauce in order to enjoy it. The coleslaw didn't have any flavor at all. Maybe I had higher expectations.
