Ely is SO SMART and was so kind and patient with my mom. He knew the right questions to ask even when she was not necessarily familiar with the implications of everything. This made a huge impression on me because New York can be a very rough place for senior citizens and I feel like he treated my mom as if she was his own. He also offered some very helpful suggestions to both of us for some investment planning. Ely knows the tax code inside and out and looks at the big picture for the financial health of each of his clients. I've been using that Brooklyn accountant for 20 years now and my taxes are somewhat complicated but I will be giving my business to Ely going forward. Ely is a very ethical man and he has made a positive change in our lives.

Originally built in 1680, it was the home of John Hurd, who was the town's miller (a very important job in colonial days!) The house as it stands today is actually two houses - the north section is the original house, the south section was added on in 1718. Both had end chimneys, and when combined, the chimney ended up in the center of the house, making it a rather unique construction for the time. The building was acquired by the Old Woodbury Historical Society in 1967, and has been operating as a museum since. The Hurd House is open to visitors Thanksgiving and Christmas morning, during the Woodbury Christmas Festival in December and July to October, Sundays from 2pm to 4pm. They also hold special events throughout the year, including a colonial muster in August, frequent tavern nights, open house on Thanksgiving, and the annual reading of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" on Christmas morning.
