Amateur news reporting from the only statewide channel in the state. If I wanted to know the news in Mass I would tune in to a Mass channel . The only reason to watch WMUR is for the weather which is always so rushed that you have to rewind and rewatch it to see the time stamp. This morning's report by Sean MacDonald on Pelosi's retirement announcement was typical TDS. He quoted Trump's negative statement about her but neglected to say that it was motivated by her calling him "the most vile creature on the face of the earth" 2 or 3 days earlier. I can't watch this news station for anything other than the weather , we need a local news station that doesn't have TDS and can report the news without extreme liberal bias . WMUR is an ABC affiliate. that stands for All Boston Channel. They are owned by Hearst Television of Boston. 90% of the time is spent on Boston, I don't live in Boston, never go there and never will. TDS 24 / 7. All the "news" is shoveled directly from the corporate news feed. NO real Local news. And if you live up in the North Country, forget it, watch the Maine news to get any local info. Biased reporting. In recent articles about high school athletes with gender dysphoria, they refer to biological males as "she" and "girl". They also report on the new law that the governor signed implying it is taking away from right of a boy from playing on a girls athletic team, when it is really just about ensuring an equal playing field. They also only interview people in support of boys playing on girls athletic teams - they don't seem to give equal spotlight to the parents of the girls that boys will be competing against. I reached out to them to suggest that they use more neutral language (i.e. use the student's name or just say "the athlete" instead of using a pronoun) but they simply ignored me. And I know they ignored me because I can tell that my emails have been opened multiple times by somebody at WMUR. read more

They tell people there is going to be a huge storm and stores get raided by people frantic shopping and buying stuff they wouldn't buy all because they lie about the weather. They always get the weather wrong they say it's supposed to be sunny and somehow it rains. They never get the weather right at all. What a provincial little operation. Quality of state coverage as poor as it was 1959 when my family moved to this state. The same news stories stay on site for days...sometimes weeks. Big breaking news stories akin to " Dog rescued from water-filled pothole," "New Hampshire resident recalls that her grandmother once visited Kiev forty years ago."... Bombshell investigations at WMUR are usually initiated by queries such as "Who sells the best maple sugar lollipops in New Hampshire?" Or "What NH lobster pound sells the friendliest lobsters?" On occasion weather forecasts are sometimes helpful. read more

OMG I am so sick of this station. Its all about them sticking to their plananed format, repeating news, old news, recycled news and human interest story after human interest story. The morning news is about 10% news, amd the rest human interest stories. And that traffic woman- she has about the most easist jobs out there- there is hardy EVER ANY TRAFFIC to report upon. Waste of coverage. The website is just as bad. Full of advertising, pop-ups, old news, and recyced news, and of course- those usless human interest stories. I do like their Chronicle show- BUT they only offer about 13 minutes of it and the rest is commercials. They end the show with that annoying Fritz Weatherbee at 17 minutes after 7:00. Their Facebook Page is even worse. Horrible postings not even news or anything even related to NH. JUst tabloity garbage posts every hour. They need a new news diretor. New Hampshire deserves better news and coverage. read more

Lame , repeat news every half hour for 3 hours , revolving door on reporter's, leans left politically, ABC affiliate is the reason. Send reporter's out in snow storms for 6 hours and tells you to stay home. The list goes on ! read more

I like WMUR just wish that they put a repeater up on my hill just a small 500 watter would really cover a lot of New Hampshire area all the way around the lakes region from my Ossipee Hill top about 250 feet up then put up just a tower another 175 feet up you would have a clear shot all the way to Portland Maine down Rte 25 and all the way up and down Rte 16 from Rochester to Tamworth now we just recieve Chanel 8 from Lake Sebago repeater . With just a repeator on my hill WMUR would pull in thousands more viewers . What a big boost for them and then we the inhabitants would have 2 TV stations to watch. We have been viewers of WMUR News for over 40 years and have never seen the mistakes during a broadcast as there has been in the past weeks. What is going on? From microphones not being turned on during the broadcast, to pauses on interviews with reporters on site. It is so unprofessional and it looks like a newbie television station that I know WMUR has never been. It's time to make corrections in the broadcast for us loyal viewers before people start turning their channels to Boston stations. read more

OMG I can't stand this station when there's a snow storm, 6 hours in the morning telling us about the storm, the condition of the snow, the roads, the plows, blah blah blah! I'm not as crazy about WMUR as Matthew. They're okay but really they're just a local NH affiliate of the ABC network. I'll watch for the weather or maybe a new Ugly Betty episode, but the news is generally no more interesting than NECN. What would be interesting? More local content, and for me that means Portsmouth. Give me 10 minutes on Portsmouth at least 2 or 3 times a week, and I'm there. Three stars because they're not interesting. I'm not asking for the news to be funny or sensational, just a bit more relevant to me. read more

Weather reports are NOT accurate!!! They say storm system coming in and and rain until 11pm. Two hours later a complete different forecast.WTF. 10pm, tomorrow will be comfortable in 60s no humidity...8am next day...it will be hazy temp in 90s with high humidity. Also checked weather website for current temp and was off by almost 20 degrees. These people should be fired. NOT ACCEPTABLE! read more

WMUR's slogan is "Nobody covers New Hampshire like we do." First, that's grammatically incorrect. It should be "Nobody ELSE covers New Hampshire like we do." Second, thank goodness no one else does. New Hampshire needs another television station to break WMUR's status as the only commercial station in the state. They don't cover over 75% of New Hampshire at all, or very little. Their coverage is heavily skewed toward Boston and Massachusetts. What in the world does a house fire in Lowell or a bank robbery in Cambridge have to do with New Hampshire. Absolutely nothing! Ditto with their excessive coverage of Boston sports. Yet they'll completely ignore major news from north of Laconia or west of Concord and Manchester. Their coverage is absolutely useless to most of the state. read more

I only do WMUR thru their website. It is terrible. It is slow. It is constantly shoving the viewer somewhere they don't want to go. The news they post is mostly of the crash and burn variety. I can only conclude that they feel that the bulk of their viewers have not more than a 6th grade education. A complete waste of time. read more

WMUR should get a news director that can actually get some real news on the air. As far as weather forcasting Mike Haddad should seriously think of retiring. His accuracy is about 10 % correct. I'm a weather guy. I rely on the forecast to tell me if, and when, my day will be overcome with poor weather. I live in NH and we have only one TV station to produce a forecast for the entire state. I know about the complicated jet streams over Mt. Washington that make predictions difficult, as well as the ocean weather behavior. But if you say it's going to start raining at 5am and continue until 11pm in one forecast and change it by the next morning, well, I've already cancelled or rescheduled my daily appts, now finding out it "may" rain at 3pm. WTF? Get it together or get out. Maybe you should go and open a dog grooming business or start a "What's Happening, New Hampshire?" website. You waste my time. Easier to get accurate forecasts from across the nation than here at home. Embarrassing! read more
