All in all, this college radio station has been around for quite some time. They've had some issues recently with WYPR, a station in Baltimore with whom they share the 88.1 FM frequency with WMUC FM. Other than that, WMUC is still going strong. You'll find your typical indie rock, hippie, alternative type music on the airwaves with dance shows and hip hop shows usually debuting in the evening hours. They have a show Sunday nights from 6pm-9pm which features live music called Third Rail Radio. I give it four stars because it is a really great place and if you get the chance to tour the station you should. It has one of the largest public collections of records on the east coast. Plus there are definitely some quality shows. On the other side, there are also some bad shows and something is not always being broadcasted. The diversity is also definitely lacking. If you're a fan of the music on NPR then you'll find something. If you like country, rap, pop, classical, or anything that isn't "different" then you won't find it here.

Ham Radio operators are the truest form of the nerd. This is the local club for elite nerds in Anne Arundel County. Stop by on the first or third Thursday of the month for the regular meetings. Or stop by at any of the special events. The club frequently holds free classes to help you pass the FCC license test. As with any group, they have their bad eggs. But in general, this is a great group of people. Willing to help, offer advice, or even come over your house to help you setup an antenna. They even have frequent sales of used equipment to get you up on the air! If you're in the market for a new hobby, then check out this club. They'd be happy to help you get started.

However, after knocking on the door for a couple minutes & texting Herb, someone came out from next door asking if I was here for the concert. I said yes, got invited in & directed to the back of the building where the band was playing. Tickets were $5 & a Donation Box was floating around. The fenced in space was set up with a stage, tables, lounging furniture & a risen deck providing a backdrop of an old school backyard party. Food option was the friendly guy frying Fish & Chicken in the corner, where some people brought their own food & drinks. I got a little insight about We Act Radio. It's a small, diverse studio in the historic Anacostia area, where you can listen to their shows online at WeActRadio.com, AM/FM stations, Podcast or via their YouTube channel. You can add your voice to their live broadcasts by calling the station at 202-889-9797. The radio station has community partnerships with the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities, Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program & the Mosaic Theatre Company. It was a good show, as Herb jams on the Sax. Yet, for future shows/events there needs to be better signage of direction to avoid standing outside knocking on doors & windows.
