Fresh flowers, meats, cheeses, baked goods and fresh baked breads, and of course beer and wine bars. There's something here for everyone and it's always fun checking out all the different booths. I walked over every morning for fresh Cappuccino at Leo's Kaffee and would pick up a pastry at one of the bakeries. In the afternoon, I would stop by the pickle guy and buy a few of the best pickles I've ever eaten. So many choices from sweet to sour, spicy and my favorite a super sour with a spicy horseradish. The long line moves quickly and if you like pickles, you must stop here.

This little markt is right in the 'hood, so i go quite often…read more The meat stand (Landhof Standl) has excellent, high-quality meat, and the proprietor is super-nice (he speaks great English, but also works with me on my stumbling through in German). the Fischhaus is similarly outstanding - everything is absolutely fresh, and the fishmongers always offer to throw in a lemon or some parsley or rosemary for free. the fruit & vegetable guy has a great selection and his stuff is always very fresh, seems to taste better than fruit I buy elsewhere. However, be warned that inside, his produce is NOT 'self-service' -- and he will be a little cross with you if you squeeze a tomato or try to put your paws all over the onions. this is clearly posted btw -- in German... Prices -- well, you will pay more to buy your groceries here than if you go to Lidl. but you patronize a local business instead of a giant chain, and you're getting better quality for sure.

The venders were all pleasant and accommodating. I saw fresh breads, bakery items, sausages, meats, cheese, fruit, flowers and more. I wanted to purchase many items but we are not allowed to bring them back home with us. It would make going through customs a bad experience and possibly cost you a fine. So if you are visiting I suggest that you get what you can together for a nice picnic at one of the beautiful parks and enjoy. Or tote around some fresh snacks while visiting the lovely landmarks.

There's decent pasta, thai food, roast chicken (of course) and excellent crepes. The lines for the best food stands are formidable between 12 & 2 pm, so sneaking over in the late morning or afternoon is advisable. I have yet to buy any flowers, produce or specialty items at the market, so I'll have to report back. Absolutely worth a visit if you work in the area!
