They have a lot more pricey items than the usual markets and the people are unique. Because Pöseldorf is a quite pricey area to live in, there are many snotty people who are full of themselves. So anyway, the supermarket is very nice, yet the people may scare you.

Gluten-free review: I am a bit confused which Edeka I went to while in Hamburg. I believe it was…read morethis one, which is a medium-sized corner market- like a big market for NYC, but small-ish for any other city stateside. I believe there might be a much larger Edeka (not Edeka Kraus) just up the street (5-10 minute walk) in a shopping center. However, Edeka Kraus was closest to my hotel and had everything I needed: a gluten free section, fresh fruit, water, and dairy products. The gluten free section is, like most markets and DMs I went to in Hamburg and Berlin, primarily Schar products. However, Schar has a much bigger range here than in the US. There were also products by Bahlsen not available in the US and a few other things. Just like at every other market in Italy/Germany/Switzerand, be sure you take your own bags. Particular to Germany: not all markets have credit card machines. I paid cash here, as did everyone else I saw, but it appeared they had a credit card machine, too. Not sure if they charge extra for using it.

Of all the Edeka's I've been to in Hamburg, this is definitely one of the nicest. It's in a brand…read morenew building and is much larger than your standard Edeka so you're not walking on top of each other. Selection is perhaps a tad better than at the others in the area, but it's still not the spot to find that obscure pack of American brown sugar or a halfway decent selection of cheeses (my bar there is admittedly really high). Prices are on par with other Edeka's in the area: high enough to let you know you're paying too much but not so Whole Foods-absurd to convince you to walk 10 more blocks to a cheaper place. Pfand machine is rarely in use and works really well, which doesn't appear to be the norm around here. There is a parking deck in the back (entrance is on Hahnemannstraße), and I *think* they validate for an hour or so. I live just above this store, so I've never had to actually use that. There is also a bakery and DM upstairs, so you could kill 3 birds with one stone. The bread at the bakery and Edeka is definitely a rip off, but it's good and convenient if you're short on time.

Enthusiasm is what it takes to raise the sparse German flow of speech here to Italian level. Only the gesticulation has to be learned by the northern man. Italy, from north to south, from east to west, in fact there is almost everything the country has to offer. In flats, in cans, in jars - or even open. Vegetables, wine, meat and sausage. Bread and of course, very importantly, a part of the Italian attitude to life: pasta. Unless we want to appear embarrassingly pseudo-worldly, we simply call it " noodles". Similar to the range of wine - endless shelves in all colours, shapes and tastes. Andronaco - is Italy, eat italian!

I was able to find really specific kind of pasta (that you don't find in German shops, and some neither in Italian too!). The shop has a good selection of olive oil, red/white wine, meet and almost every kind of Italian food. There is also a small Bistro near the entrance if you want to experience some italian food. I had just a minor bad experience with the guy selling cheese. I asked for 100g of 'pecorino romano' and that guy force me to take 200g, just because he said 100g was too less... Please note that prices are a bit higher than usual (especially if you compare with an Italian shop).
