All in all rather disappointing and I'd recommend not going for the buffet. Somewhat overpriced considering what is on offer. Service is very friendly, but that only just makes up for it being excessively slow. I know the owner operates alone, but in all fairness this is a very small place (6 to 7 tables) and it was a buffet, so it should not be that slow. Finally, the best dish of the night was beef chow fun. I didn't have high expectations for this one but it tasted pretty close to the ones at home in NYC, with plenty of wok hei. I'd definitely recommend this dish and if I were a betting woman, I would guess that their other noodle dishes might be pretty good too, so maybe just stick to those.

Because it was dinner time, the €4 lunch special wasn't available, but there are a couple €6 dinner dishes, such as the basic fried rice or chow mein. Everything else is between €9-14 or so, which isn't terrible. The service is fast and good; I spoke Chinese with the waiter, and he kept complimenting me on my Chinese after finding out that I was actually Korean. We got our food in a matter of minutes. The taste was fine; not authentic but better than Panda Express level. I wish the food had come out a little hotter. Know also that there's no tap water available! And if you're a stickler about clean and hygienic kitchens, then maybe avoid this place. But Chao Chow is great for cheap, fast, and greasy Chinese food on a budget!
